Nosebleed!

During one of the days while Ace was down with the airplane disease, Ace kept sleeping and his body temperature kept going up.

So we asked him to go bath first.

Since he was sick, i decided to help him lah.. After I wet him, I soaped him... And then I started to wash away the soap.

And suddenly, I realized that it is very strange cos I keep seeing droplets of red water on my hand. Just as I was pulling my hand closer to investigate what these red droplets were, Ace suddenly cried out and I suddenly saw blood flowing like a water fall from his nose out onto the floor.

Ace cried and cried...

I got a shock but I remembered that when I watched TV, they said tat someone with a nosebleed should lean forward and let the blood flow out... so I just kept reminding Ace to lean forward.... I told him it is just a nosebleed maybe because he rubbed his nose too hard just now and some veins got broken or what but Ace cried and cried...

"It's just nosebleed... it is not painful right?" i asked him..

"No, it is painful..." Ace continued to cry and cry...

That got me a little worried... but after leaning forward for a while, the blood was still flowing and i started to panic a little.. still, I had to try to remain calm in front of him since he was feeling frightened. The pool of blood was getting bigger and even if i tried to wash it off, more blood dropped on the floor and formed a fresh pool.

I gave Ace a tissue and asked him to continue to lean forward and catch the blood with a tissue (so that it doesnt look so scary in a puddle on the floor) and quickly ran out to call out to Max to come in and help.. I figured he will know what to do since he was the head of St John's brigade while he was in school.

Max asked Ace to lean forward and used a handkerchief to catch the blood but after a while, the bloody flow stopped and we quickly dried Ace and dressed him and asked him to lie back on pillow for a while...

Once Ace settled down, I asked him again why he was crying. Was he in pain or anything...

"No, not pain already..."

"And why did you cry for so long?" I asked him..

"Because I was afraid i was going to die when i saw the blood..." he replied..

Wahahahaha:P Reminds me of how I tot I was going to die when I was 14 and had a chest infection.. the stupid doctor asked my mum to send me to the emergency department because if she did not, I might die in the night! Wat the %$*%&$%&$*...My life literally flashed in front of me while I was in the cab on the way to the emergency ward.. In retrospect now, I must not have been on the brink of death since I was made to wait a few hours before I managed to see a doctor and got an xray done:) wahahaha...

Another time I tot I was going to die was that I kept feeling unwell and tired... only to find that it was just symptoms of pregnancy:)

Anyway, according to the doctor we saw with Ace in Dubai, children fall sick to gain immunity to certain viruses.. so I quote, "It is quite normal for a child to fall sick with virus four times a year..."

Excuse me?? I mean as someone who believes in holistic health, I can understand the logic behind it lah.. but to be very sick four times a year is too much lah:) Maybe the doctor has this believe cos he thinks this belief will bring him lots of money:) wahahaha..

I told Ace since he only gets viral fever once a year or so... he must be not sick enough times:) wahahahaha.... But of cos I know it is because he has better immunity lah:)

PS: Another interesting thing that happened at the doctors is this.. the doctor asked us if we were travelling before this. "Yes, " we told him.. "We went back to Singapore..." so the doctor paused for a moment and asked.. "Are there mosquitoes there?"

"Yes," replied Max and after a pause, just in case this is helpful info to the doctor, he added that there has been cases of dengue fever in Singapore...

"No, no, I am not worried about that, I am more worried about Malaria..." replied the Indian doctor presumably from India.

Wahahahahah:) Singaporeans equate mosquitoes with dengue and Indians just equate them with malaria:) Talk about cultural differences!

But actually, I even wonder if the doctor knows where Singapore is.. hahaha.. Ok, maybe he does as many indians I have met here have been singing praises about what a wonderful country Singapore is and all the lovely things they heard from their friends who either migrated there or are working there...

Airplane Disease

They call this the airplane disease...

You see, everyone in our Dubai Gang.. or rather, almost everyone who has gone back home to visit their hometown fell sick when they came back too Dubai... seems like the only exception is me as I fell sick BEFORE i went back.. wahahahaha...

So leh, we deduced this is a disease that people catch when they are on the airplanes with tonnes of other dunno whether healthy or unhealthy people and lots of germs rotating around in recycled air on the 7-10 hour flight.. (Mental note to self to let Ace take 40 VP before boarding plane next time..)

Anyway, during the flight, Ace sort of caught a cold. He was sneezing non stop lor.. his sneezing was so bad that the air stewardess actually went tot he first class cabin to get him some chick pea soup to drink so that he can keep warm and sneeze less (I love Emirates)

But leh, after a good night sleep, he was sort of good as new by the time he woke up the next day for school...

So he went to school and was normal and healthy for... two days...

On the second day, I noticed that after he came from school, it seems that his ears are red... (it is usually a sign of fever for Ace) and he seemed slightly feverish. But when I asked him if he was OK, Ace said that he was feeling ok. "See, Mummy, I can run and I can jump!" As he excitedly hopped around the house.

So I let it be.

By bedtime, he was still sort of slightly feverish and his ears were still red. I asked him if he was feeling ok and he said he was ok... and so I let him be again.

For some unknown reason, I was unable to sleep at night. And by the time I went into the bedroom at 1am in the night, I found that Ace was not more than slightly feverish. I quickly got some iced water and a towel and started to towel him for the next hour and the half and his fever sort of got controlled.

By the next morning, he woke up good as new. I asked if he was ok but he said he was ok.. just a little bit tired. I told him he had a fever last night and he is feeling tired because he did not sleep well as his body was fighting a war (fevers are usually a sign of the body fighting some sort of war between the good and the bad). So since he was ok and looked ok, I let him go to school lor...

But came 12 noon, the school nurse gave me a ring and said that Ace is very tired and resting in her room. He is also running a slight fever and she asked if it was ok if she fed Ace some fever medication. I gave her the go ahead and she asked if we would like to pick Ace up.

After discussing with Max, we decided not to let the poor boy take a 1 hr bus ride home and so Max went to pick Ace up from school. The school nurse told Max that Ace is a very strong boy as she very seldom sees him in the nurses room.... and he is probably just having some sort of viral fever as he is ok but just tired with a fever... But she suggested that we take him to the doctor just to be sure....

On most counts, I have always been a firm believer of natural ways of healing. And as Ace has been having viral fever on off like once a year or two... I am no stranger to it and its signs. I am quite sure it is just a viral fever and I know tat for viral fevers, they come and go and take something like 4-5 days to go away...

But I know it is uncomfy for Ace to be having the fever as his eyes were bloodshot and his ears were red... so I try to ice him.. I remembered that I had this ice pack and started using it on him...

But his fever just refused to go down... and finally by evening time, Max suggested that we just see the doctor just to lower the temperature so that he gets some relieve and of cos, we were were worried like all chinese parents will be worried about how high fever can "burn till your brain become stupid".. wahahaha:)

So leh, we checked the address of the nearest chidlren's clinic and brought him there...

That is Panda eyes mummy after taking care of Ace for the whole night and day....

And tat is the very sick Ace. The moment we arrived, the nurse put a suppository into his anus to lower the fever...

That is the very xian Max.. who is always upset whenever anyone in the family is sick...

I then noticed a very strange phenomenon in the clinic. You see, the children here are mostly to see a doctor. If you saw a doctor, it usually means you are SICK right? But they were all snacking on corn crackers and stuff like tat! Amazing! And then they all left the doctor's office with a lollipop on hand too! (which I assumed was given to them by the doctor...)

Anyway, I found this toy in the clinic super scary looking lor... i think it will make sick children feel even more sick!

Anyway leh, I wondered why the children who went in took such a long time to come out and I finally realized why when I went in myself! The doctor is a kin-esthetic doctor who is a GREEN... someone who looks at details and he explains every single detail SLOWLY as if you are an idiot and dun understand anything at all....

I told Max the doctor should tell me something I dun already know (he was explaining that it could be a viral fever as Ace did not have any signs of infection in his nose or throat... and explaining what is a viral fever, what causes it and how it takes a few days to go away...) Max says how the doctor know I am such a clever mum leh? Wahahahah...

Anyway, we then found out tat doctors here do not dispense medication. They merely gave you a list of things to take for the different symptoms and then you go buy them in the pharmacy yourself.. that is quite cool given tat I have heard of many rumours of how doctors in Singapore try to dispense unnecessary medication to patients so tat they can hit sales targets and be rewarded with holidays and what nots... But that being said, they are RUMOURS and I have not gotten them verified...

Anyway, when we went home, Ace's fever went down! Yeah! I was hopeful that Ace could go to school tomorrow but leh, after some discussion, we thought we would let him rest at home for one more day since it was sports day and it doesnt seem like Ace is capable of doing any sports day at all....

Anyway, the next day when he woke, his fever started again... BOTHER!

So I was busy trying to sponge him again because I actually did not want him to take or use any medication if possible. But leh, come 3pm, his fever was still on off and high.. so boh pian lor, I asked Max to just buy the medication for the fever (since cough and cold will get better by themselves one wat..)

I noticed one very very strange trait of my son though... when people are sick.. they are usually very tired and sleep and sleep and sleep.. and they usually do not have any appetite right? My son was tired all right.. he slept through the WHOLE DAY in his semi feverish mode... But hor, everytime he wakes up, his first sentence is , "Mummy, can I eat? I am very hungry..." And he really finish whatever I cook for him... (even if i cook a bigger serving!)

Anyway, by dinner time, his fever was still high and so I asked Ace if he wanted to try to use a suppository to bring the fever down. Initially he rejected the idea but I tried to persuade him about how he can have a good rest if the fever goes away and I told him i was worried if the fever does not go down...

I asked him to be a brave boy and tried to entice him with an offer of some nice food when he recovers.... but he says he cannot be a brave boy... wahahahha...

And then leh, after more persuasion, he finally agreed to use the suppository. Before I used it though, I went to the internet to read up on how to do it lah.. I have never poke anything into anyone's anus before lor...

After reading once through, I ah gar ah gar lah.. hiong hiong go for it... I tried to put the suppository into Ace's bum but hor, he was so tensed.. and because I was frightened and dare not push it in all the way... PLUS he was crying and whining like I was torturing him or wat... the suppository kept sliding out...

I got angry and threw the suppository away... "Ok lah ok lah, dun cry liao lah.. you want the fever, continue to have fever lah, we dun do this lah..." I told Ace and I walked away... upset with myself for not doing a better job and upset with him for crying and whining and not helping...

But after I cooled down, I went back to Ace and told him that I would like to try again as I really wanted his fever to go down. I told him that if he cried, it is not helpful for me.. I would prefer tat he tells me and help me by giving my directions or suggestions as he can feel where the suppository is....

So I went back to the internet and researched somemore.. read a few articles, watched a youtube video and now I am ready to try again. Also, this time, the first suppository has sort of lubricated the entrance.. as I now know tat my mistake was tat i did not push it in deep enough, I just went for it and it finally went in! Yippee!

And almost instantly.. within 5 minutes, his fever went down! YEAH!

That night, Ace sweated all over and his sweat is dam super smelly.. and that is when i know tat Ace has made a turning point on the road to recovery....

Anyway, the next day he woke up good as new! Yeah! he was mostly excited and happy and playing around the house the whole day as he has been sleeping lots the days before. But leh. by evening, his fever suddenly returned!

I tot it just a good idea to get it over and done with and asked if he would like another suppository. HAI.... he refused again and then Max had to persuade him.. and then... because his bum was so tense and because I din push it deep enough.. after a few minutes, the suppository popped right out and somehow this process seem to cause him pain and so he cried again!

But two pairs of hands is indeed better than one lor... so i gave Max the easy job of distracting Ace with a funny youtube clip on his ipod touch.. while I tried to insert another new suppository in... praying that it would be the last one tat I need to insert! Anyway, this one was fast and smooth! So unfair right.. why the father gets the easy job or just playing with the kid while the mother has to do the dirty job??

And thankfully, that was the last of it as Ace got well enough to actually go out with us the very next day:)

Mr Dentist Max

Remember how Ace prayed for his teeth to drop? He finally got his wish granted.. wahahahaha:)

Just before we left for Singapore, Max said tat Ace's teeth is very shaky and tried to pull out his teeth for him. And then he asked Ace to pull it out by himself (cos i suspect he also cannot bear to pull hard and hurt Ace...)

So given the promise that he will be able to play with his Angry Bird toy, Ace tried hard to pull his teeth out...

He managed to stain the handkerchief with some blood but that was it.. wahahahaha.. at the end of 30 min, it was a no go:) wahahahaah..

In the end, a few days after we came back from Singapore, the tooth really started shaking badly and Dr Dentist Max just plucked it out easily:)

Now we are waiting for one of Ace's front teeth to drop! ;) wahahahaha

Ace's Best Friends

As our trip back home to Singapore was a very short one... minus the required neccesities of CNY, we did not really have alot of time to meet up with many people. So in the end, I only met the people who have way in advanced booked my time.. first come first served:) wahahahaha...

And because my sked is so tight (I had a few appts and tonnes of errands to run everyday.. no time to rest!), by the time I am done with my planning almost everyday is full... with ONE SMALL slot on chu san evening to BREATHE...

At this point, Ace asked me if he could arrange to meet up with his best friends from Kinderland YT and HB. While I was in contact with HB's parents, I did not know how to get into contact with YT.... I told him we dun really have time and he kept asking and asking for a few days straight and kept saying please please please please please to me and so I decided to help him arrange during tat one slot I have free...

Once I got back into Singapore, I started smsing HB's mum and then through Ace's kindergarten teacher and his other classmate, H's mum, I managed to get YT's contact:)

As it was a school day, it was really Ace's lucky day that they both agreed to meet in the evening after school!:)

Now, let me just say that my experience of YT and HB is that they are both GENTLE and QUIET little boys.. so I always wondered why they are good friends with the very noisy Ace...

When they arrived, I found out why lor!

We were first to reach... YT arrived later and then the moment they saw each other, they were hugging each other with joy and laughing and giggling so happily... it is like the joy cannot be contained and this joy just seem to fuel their whole being such that the both of them started to be super active and running and hiding around the whole macdonalds!

There was no need for words or even gestures.. there was even no need to discuss what they want to play or do.... they just both unanimously sprang into action and started playing hide and seek inside Mac Donalds! Wahahahaha

Nothing we said or did could stop them!!!!! It was truly a sight to behold! It is the first time I see YT so excited and active! He and Ace same pattern one! They laugh at the same jokes, enjoy doing the same things and it just seem like no time has passed between them! You know how they say tat good frens are those whom even if you have not met them for a long time, once you meet, it feels as if no time has passed and you just pick up from where you left off? That was how it was with the boys lor...

Then we encouraged ace to take out the Boggle game he has to play.. so that they wouldnt run around the whole restaurant... Max almost went crazy with all the noise:) wahahaha..

And then leh, 20 min later, HB joined in with his bro and the boys spent the next hour playing non stop in the playground... Max says he really cannot tahan having the boys running around like that... But well, I think boys are just boys:)

Before we ended the gathering, we decided to take a group photo but even so, they cannot stand still to take a proper photo!:P

But I am really glad tat Ace got to meet up with his good friends. Apparently, his kindergarten class has been arranging meet ups once a month and it seems that whenever they meet, the whole jim gang goes crazy like these boys did at Mc Ds:)

I guess most of them have been together since they were 2 or 3 years old.. so tat really counts for something:) Would be nice if we can do this again when we go back again..

Anyway, while they were playing, we parents just chit chat lah.. and at this age, the topic is of course about homework.. wahahahahaha:) According to them, there is weekly spelling and alternate days, they will have homework.. weekend usually has alot of homework... and on top of that sometimes some of the children also go for extra lessons or tuition....

I think Ace is just plain lucky to be in Horizon.. school of no homework:)

Also, when I was smsing H's mum, she told me she had to go to school to see the teacher for "behavior issues". I know H is a rather active child like Ace. I dun really think he has behavioral issues but I think the teachers in sgp are just not so used to handling children who do not sit still and follow all instructions given.

Ace's teacher tells me he is quite fidgety when at his desk. he cannot seem to sit still but because he hands in his work on time, and always completes his task as he is told and because Ms O'Donnell thinks boys are just more active, she doesnt really mind as long as he hands in his work properly and on time... i am thinking if Ace were in a school in sgp, I would also probably get many calls from his teacher complaining tat he cannot sit still!:) wahahahaha...

This little boy is very heng lor! But leh, I guess when he goes back to Singapore, he will just learn a different set of skill sets as compared to those tat he learns here:) I wouldnt worry much about him cos he seems to be doing ok in school so far and keeping up ok without much help from me:)

CNY 123

For me, CNY really just flew past in a flash!

Especially the first three days... The thought of having to squeeze five adults and one kid into the small car under the hot sun.. and running around to a few different places for me is a good enough reason to choose to dress relax then dress up in my cheongsam.. wahahaha.. and the tot of it just conjures one word in my mind- TIRING!

But what to do? Tradition is tradition.. I still remember feeling excited about all new years where I dun have to make required trips to other people's homes (my grandma stays with me and my mum is only child) and just relax and enjoy collecting ang pow and eating CNY goodies:)

I wonder though to Ace, what does CNY feel like and what does it signify to him. As I was typing this, I asked Ace if he liked CNY and he nodded his head and said, "Mm..."

When I asked him why.. he answered "Because got lou hei lah.. because the lou hei very hao chi what.. " Whahahaaha.. realy tam chiak lor this boy!:)

Anyway, first day of CNY came and went.. we as usual visited the same few elders in the Chua family and went home for a rest before heading to Max's parents house for the traditional CNY day 1 party.... As I did not have time to find my shoe in my boxes, I had to wear this old shoe I havent worn in years and it died on me halfway! wahahahahaha...

As they say, blood is thicker than water... when Ace saw Nana, his cousin, they just naturally clicked and played together:)

And then, after going home in the wee hours and zzzing, the next morning is another round of visiting... this time is Max's mum side of the family... before making our way to my grandma's house for the traditional Peng Family gathering..

This year is full force lor:) My cousin who has migrated to Perth is back with her 4 kids.. my other cousin, even though he could not be here (because he runs a lion dance troupe) had his wife bring their two kids over as well... so we had so many children... we left the children to lou hei for us instead:)

I wonder if these children will grow up close to each other since they only see each other like once a year.. wonder if these cousins, will like us, enjoy many happy moments together and many happy games together.... (I think Qing, Yee, Quan, Xuan will remember our favourite game.. "Bee Dees.. bee dees.. bee bee bee bee bee bee bee...." and catching using Yeye's bed wahahahahaha)

Since we are here full force, have to take picture mah:) tat is us getting ready to take photo...

Okie pose CHEEESE!

Now for a funny one...

Then everyone else left and then Ace started playing with gongong...

Afterward, we went to kaikan to chant...My good son chanted halfway and started having a conversation with gohonzon... "Gohonzon.. can you please give me a didi.. also, can you let my teeth drop so that I can become boh gay...." wah lau... he heng he no kenna scolding from my mum:) wahahaha

After all the chanting, we decided to have a quick dinner before goiong to Annie ganma's house to visit them... Max ordered food and ask me wanna share a porridge. I said OK and then when the food came, I peng san!

This crazy man go and order $5 worth of chai tow kway.. $5 worth of fried kway tiao... Somemore is spicy one.. even though Ace was there, he already had dinner and doesnt eat spicy food so he cannot help much..

But hor, dunno where Ace find the courage to eat spicy food tat day.. in the end, he ate quite alot of the chai tow kway.. heng ah!

Went to Annie godma house still got alot of thigns waiting for us lor.. ice cream lah.. crackers lah.. etc etc etc...

Third day of new year finally early morning can rest abit... I had intended to colour my hair with the hair colour that I bought before lor.. but have been so bz i got no time to colour it... Even then, I still cannot find time to colour my hair lor!

Anyway, thanks to Ah Yee, our whole family went for a movie outing together while Max took care of Ace. We went to watch the Mediacorp movie, Long Zhong Wu..

If you ignore the lame storyline, it is actually quite funny lah:)

In the cinema, we were thinking when was the last time our whole family went to watch a movie.. i think hor.. if whole family hor, would be when I was in primary school.. watch Kai Xin Gui leh...

Cos I went with my mum and sis to watch Liang Popo and 881 before but never with the whole family... It was sort of nice to have a breather and to spend time with my family even though watching movies are sort of an anti social activity to me...

And so, that is our CNY 123 in Singapore...

Reunion Dinners

In the chinese tradition, reunion dinners are very important...

Actually, Ace has a one week school holiday in mid Feb. So if we had chosen to come back much later for CNY, we would have been able to stay for two weeks instead.

However, as Max feels that it is very important that the whole family has dinner together on CNY eve, we made the trip back a few days before new year and stayed one week before going back to Dubai....

I think if me and Max never go back.. maybe our parents dun mind so much.. But given tat this is the first CNY tat Ace will be coming home from Dubai... I think the grandparents might mind very much if their baobei is not back to have reunion dinner with them:)

The Chua family tradition.. lou hei before the reunion lunch:)

As all years tradition, we always will get a fried toufu, a fried mock duck and lots of mushrooms and not to forget the "chinese" salad hahaha...

The ever so beautiful nai nai gathering the lou hei for Ace..

"YumsZ! " says Max..

Ace's favourite:P

This one is for ALL THE PEOPLE who always ask me how Max looks like with hair and for all those who dun believe me when i tell them Max used to have lion king hair..

Handsome boh??????

After lunch, shushu took out this toy hor which was passed down from Max to shu shu and now to Ace.. it is a billard toy.. and then nephew and uncle started to have a game! ;) And Ace was so happy to have a chance to play with shushu..

After we were done with lunch, we decided to go visit our other "family".. my other "Mother" whom now forbids me to call her tat and say we all have to call her Meinu.. wahahahahah...

Anyway, before I left for Dubai, my good fren Jez helped me alot with my packing. she actually cancelled her work and then came to my house and packed till 2am with me on the night before my movers came... and she also came and save me by driving me around to settle all my documentation at MFA and Dubai Consulate in singapore before I came over to Dubai... without her help, I might have had more white hair or might have died of stress!!!!

So I just wanted to buy her something and show her some appreciation lah...

Alas, when we got there, it was raining very heavily.. so stupid lor.. we reached her house liao but due to heavy rain have to wait in the car for 5 min before we can go up... this would never have happened in dubai!:) wahahaha

Anyway, Ace and Jez's daughters, Tashi and Oracle, were happy to see each other again. Perhaps because their parents are very good friends.. they also became very good friends! When they saw each other, it seemed like time never really pass through and they just play together happily as if they meet each other everyday lor:) I still remember how when tashi and oracle were young and me and max were not married yet, we were always playing with them or playing nanny to them lor.. now all so grown up and tashi can even be my nanny and help me take care of Ace liao lor:) Time flies... bu ren lao dou bu xing...

And Jez Meinu knows me best! She also bought me a few bottles of my FAVOURITE CHINESE NEW YEAR SNACKS for me to bring back to dubai!:) I am happy to announce I have finished up most of them already! wahahahahahaha

Afterward, we went home to have reunion dinner with the Peng family but we had a small little problem..

My grandma, who is suffering from Alzheimer, is upset for some unknown reason and refused to come over for dinner.. even hanging up the phone on my mum.

So leh, I tried to call too and told her Ace is here too.. hoping she would be happier.. but she also complained tat her hand is painful and did not want to come.. I told her I can feed her and she said, "You are my grand daughter.. if I feed you.. it is the right thing to do.. how can you feed me?" And she got very grumpy and hung up the phone on me as well...

The the end, the helper saved the day... the helper, S, came up with plan and told my grandma she will bring her downstairs to exercise... once my grandma got downstairs, she forgot where she is going and she just followed S's lead and eventually made their way to my house!

Phew...

Once grandma saw so many people in the house, she was happy again!:)

Ace was very excited to do all the cooking by himself.. cos he is finally old enough to do that:)

This is what goes into a vegeterian steamboat dinner:)

This is my sis, C... for her, this is only ROUND 1.. she going for round 2 later at her in law's place..

That's grandma and my aunty, KC. Aunty dotes on us alot and I remembered that she was the person who brought me to Orchard road and to the museum for the first time in my life.. but she also traumatized me alot when i was young.. wahahaha.. knowing tat i am a greedy girl, she always show me some snack she has and made me go round the house to call everyone before she gives me food... hahahahahaha

That is my mum.. who kept pouring soup lah, serve this person and serve tat person.. never sitting down to eat.. hai.. so we had to ask her to eat lah.. dun worry about everyone else..

That's grandma.. she was happy to be eating steamboat.. and since Max was seated beside her.. she kept talking to him and every 15 min or so, she will repeat to him.. "Teochew love to eat steamboat you know..." Max just smile at her and continued eating.. wahahahaha..

That's my Lao Hero dad...

One more with my mum..

After dinner, grandma went to the living room to take a seat. Max tried to use his broken teochew to converse a little with her.. I told my grandma that Max is teochew but cannot speak teochew one... and then somehow she retained this fact and that the next time Max tried to say something funny to her.. she said, "Haiya, I dun want to talk to you.. you dunno how to speak teochew..."

Wahahaha.. hilarious lor:) My aunty says tat as Grandma gets older, she will lose more of her inhibitions and speak more and more of her mind.. gosh.. so now leh, then we truly get to know our grandma for who she really is:)

Anyway, we spent some time reminiscing about how when we were young, we had this tradition of going over to my grandma's house to stay.. me, my sis, my cousins, yee, quan, xuan......

Then we talked about how we will pester grandma to buy us chai tao kway and soy milk for breakfast and ask her to cook fried sotong balls and also chicken with dark soya sauce for lunch and dinner..... I dun think my grandma remembers much of it but these memories are impt to me and C...

After that Ace took out the whole stack of Garfield and Tin Tin comics that we brought home from Max's house.. they used to belong to Max as a kid and Ace wanted to bring them back to Dubai to read as he has just started to get interested in comics...

Hopefully he can take good care of it and maybe it can become a family heirloom:) ahahahaha...

But leh, Ace actually finished reading most of the books before we even brought them back to dubai lor!:) wahahahaahah...
