China Trip Pt 11: Little Island In Tongli (Suzhou)

This has to be my favourite part in Tongli and we were at this little island for the longest amount of time. If it did not rain, we might have even stayed on longer:)
That is how the jetty looks like..

And below is our boat. It is a very stable boat and interestingly, the chairs in the boat were just chairs put in.. and they are totally not screwed onto the floor at all like most seats on moving vehicles are.. but remember, this is China, land of anything goes;)

Ace did not get to sit down and was a little upset.. but nevertheless, it was a short journey.. only few minutes and we reached this island with a temple and a gong tower... my favourite though is the pond and the little garden...

This is the buddhist temple....

This is the gong tower...
When we came out through the side, we found that right next to the bell tower is a pond and there are many koi fishes that keep swimming around the circumferences of the bell tower and they are so cute lor.. they will swim like they are queuing up like tat.. very interesting:)

As you can tell, Ace perked up the moment he saw the fishes!:)

This is the scenery from where we fed fish.. looks like a painting right?

The fish will queue and father whenever someone tries to feed them something...

Ace was upset cos we had nothing to feed the fish..then I remembered that there were some biscuits in my bag and so we used them to feed the fish.. Ace was so happy tat they came to eat the food he fed them...

When Max asked him not to throw the biscuits too far away... Ace replied, "But I want to give the small fish a chance too.." Apparently, other than koi, there were many other small fishes around the area but they dun have a chance against the koi unless you threw the food furthur away... what a sweet and thoughtful little boy Ace is...

We found out that the fish are all actually very stupid... cos when we ran out of food.. we just had to stand there and wave our arms and they would come towards us for food.. even if we threw water or nothing own.. they would still come and they would get cheated again and again and be non wiser! But maybe they just never gave up any possible chance;) hahahaha

Here is a video of Ace feeding the fish.. just to give you an idea of how the fish will FIGHT for their food;)

After we ran out of things to feed the fish, we took a little walk around the garden but Ace was rather restless.. thank goodness we saw some clover leaves and I told him that if one can find a four leave clover, it means the person will have good luck.. so that kept him entertained for a while.. Cos Ace wanted to have good luck.. be he kept having saying he found one and only to find out that it was only a three leaf clover..

Max photog at work and so I got to be model:)

Max the photographer says he is very happy with the following series because my hair the the weeping willows are all flying in the same direction so it is very beautiful:) wahahaha

Then we went up to the bell tower for a while but to strike the bell (for good luck, success and peace) costs money so we walked around and went down again...

Then we spent time sitting at the edge of the pond and looking at the fishes again.. Alas, it started to drizzle and so we thought it might be a good idea to head back...

We took the ferry back and while waiting for the ferry, we took out the umbrella and asked Ace to carry it to protect him from the rain.. but he ended up playing with it and posing with it.. hahahaha

All in all, it was a pretty relaxing trip.. I think Karen, CK and Phoebe would have liked it here but too bad they couldnt come. Anyway, we got the driver to pick us up at the ferry terminal and send us back to Suzhou. Initially, the plan was to go dinner direct but too bad Phoebe was not feeling well yet.. so we just paid the driver and went to rest ourselves before going out again for dinner later.. Read about our rest time in a cosy cafe and our wonderful dinner in the next post.
