China Trip Pt 4: The Bund (Shanghai)

I grew up listening to the Shanghai Bund song as it was a famous tv series during my growing up years.. and never did I think i would ever have a chance to visit THE BUND:)

While we were exploring Yu Yuan, we saw a sign that said "The Bund" and so we figured the bund should be nearby within walking distance and thus decided to venture to walk towards it.. we asked around for some directions and finally saw the COKE bottle-like building in a distance! That is the tallest building in Shanghai..

The coke bottle in a distance... But gosh, the clouds were gloomy and the wind was very cold!

While walking towards the coke bottle, we discovered a park with lots of beautiful flowers!

It is called the Old Town Park...

Getting nearer to the "Coke bottle"....

We discovered a bamboo forest and so I asked Max if he wanted to take pics in front of it since bamboos are his fav:)

And since there are so many beautiful flowers that are almost as pretty as me.. (ahem), I guess wouldnt hurt to take pictures with them!:)

Yeah, we just need to corss the street to get to THE BUND!

Ace is all hooded up and has his hands in his and Max's pockets because it was freezing cold!!!!!!

And finally, we reached THE BUND:)
For some unknown reason, Max actually purposely took this pic with the building sticking out of my head.. maybe he wanted to know how I would look like if I were an alien..

Welcome to Shanghai!:)

We also found Peach Blossoms there:)

Ace: Hey! I am almost as tall as that building!

View of Pudong from Pu Xi. Well, in China, there is a famous river called Huang Pu Jiang.. and it cuts through Shanghai.. so on the eastern side of the river is called Pu Dong and the western side is called Pu Xi. Apparently our friends say it is nicer to look over from the other side but wat the hell, we got no time.. can see can liao.. anyway, I already like this view very much!:)

Volkswagon boat anyone?:P I never knew they have boats too!!

Ace saw his favourite drink being sold in these cute vans!

So we bought a drink and asked if we could pose inside and let Ace pretend to be a coke seller for a few seconds:)

Happiness!

Saw many of these sand carrying boats.. I wonder what the sand is for and where they were going...

Pudong and Puxi at a glance..

Love all these old buildings... so beautiful!!

My sis said that her boss said that if in Shanghai, one should visit the Peace Hotel as it is very nice.. no time to go in leh.. so just take picture from the outside.. wahahaha:)

Ace drinking coke in front of the coke bottle building:)

Found a cafe tat carries the name of Max's indian colleague.. we are going to tell her we found her cafe in Shanghai!

Taking a rest after all the walking and photo taking.. also taking in the beautiful sight:)

We were posing for pics with each other and my son said he wanted to be in the picture too...

But he purposely hooded himself and this was the end result.. I think he just wanted to spoil the picture.. hai....

Mac donalds, anyone?

Ace came up with a clever idea and said he wanted to take photo of him BOXING the building.. hahahaha

We found kites flying in the sky. I think there is some sort of park in the Pudong side cos there were two kites flying high in the sky..

Got to the crowded part of the bund and there were people everywhere!

I think this is a popular wedding shoot location.. there were so many sets of brides and grooms taking photos here:) We noticed tat they were all very young... apparently in many parts of China, people were mostly married by the time they are 23.... we also noticed that the men were all very short and small sized... alas, none of the brides were saw were really very pretty...

Max got tired and here is why bringing your son along for the tour is good... cos he can help you massage your tired legs;)

The only quiet part in the park... this hero memorial building tat looks like the one we have in Singapore! Shanghai is so much like Singapore!!!

I also saw this bridge tat looked like Benjamin Shears Bridge in Singapore.. wandering about in Shanghai made me homesick.....

Anyway, we found that we still had some time and so we decided to go to Tian Zi Fang for a spin... More about that in the next post:)
