Ace complained that he is very bored... and I did not have time to bring him out to a far place as I was also feeling tired... so leh, I brought him to the library to borrow books and then bought him a cake mix so that we can bake a cake here in Singapore ;)
Since Ace was very excited about doing everything himself now, I let him do everything from start to finish.. except starting the fire and watching over the cake... whahaha :)
Turns out that the mix is pretty easy to make.. it is Devil's Cake.. gluten free mix... just add butter and the cake mix and some water and tat is it :) quite easy to do actually :)
Used the HCP to bake over low heat...
The end result actually tastes quite good! :)
I told Ace he can put some in a container and keep for when we go over to Yeye and NaiNai's house... and then he can bake for them... the rest he kept in another big container... and then I went out lor...
When I reached home.. Ah Yee told me that Ace pasted a sign on his container filled with cakes...
Ah Yee say, "Why your son so selfish one... bake for us to eat but must ask his permission then can eat....
I told her it was probably because he wanted them to eat while he was around so that they can praise him.... cos Popo told me that right after dinner, he took out the cake and kept asking everyone if they wanted a piece of cake.. even though they were so full!
Not bad leh.. now tat Ah Yee is a mother.. she not so anal towards Ace.. she actually pointedly ask for his permission to eat the cake and also praised him and said his cake tasted very nice and that he is very clever.. wahahaha
Ace was of course very happy that everyone liked his cake... He enjoyed it so much he asked to bake another cake.. so we bought another set of cake mix..
When Gong Gong saw the cake mix.. he complained.. "Aiyah.. he bake for himself to eat only one lah..." hahahahaha.. apparently, all the leftover pieces of cake.. most of them eaten by Ace himself! No wonder he so excited to make one more.
Now that I know the cake mixes so easy, next time can buy in Dubai and bake lor :)

Balloon Man Ace
Shu shu is now Ace's best friend.. wahahahah.. cos whenever Ace is back, Shu Shu will take out some of his toys and let Ace play.. not only that, Shu shu will play with Ace and Ace is always happy to have someone to play with him...
The other day, Ace went to Nai Nai house to stay over and shu shu was at home... shu shu showed Ace how to make a dog using a balloon...
Shu shu says... after watching him do it one time only, Ace did one up by himself... without any help for him! Wah... he learn this sort of wu eh boh eh so fast... if only timetable can also learn so fast!:) wahahahahaha
In addition to that hor, they had some broken balloons which burst.. so he says it is a pity and recycled them... he pumped them up and made this machine gun all by himself! Kiang hor?:P haha
Of course, shu shu is not the only one who will play with him lah.. Yeye taught him how to play the rubber band game he played when he was a little boy... the game was to flip the rubberband and let your rubberband land over the other person's band...
Even though Ace never play before and Yeye gave his all, Ace actually won 4 out of 5 games they played :) wahhahaa...
THe other day, someone asked me if Ace took time to warm up to his grandparents since he hadnt seen them in a long while. I was a little surprised and thought it a little strange that people will ask me that.. cos i had never thought that he would ever need to warm up to his parents since he was very close to them and grew up for a number of years here and spent lots of time with both his paternal and maternal grandparents before going over to dubai...
But it also made me wonder.. if I ever do have another kid and had to stay on in Dubai... how would the second kid react to his or her grandpas and grandmas.. will they need to warm up when they see them or will blood naturally be thicker than water and create an inexplicable bond that crosses all borders....
All in all, I am really glad that Ace is close to his grandparents and have a chance to spend so much time with them while growing up :)

Meeting Uncle Wes and Family
I know in this high tech world where the world can be reached at the touch of a button, pen pals are not that common anymore. But I have a penpal whom I have known for years.. it is funny how time flies...
I first got to know Wes on the #Singapore IRC chat channel. Back then, I was still studying in uni (I think I was only in my first year of uni) and Wes was well, trying to court his current wife.. who is Singaporean... Being very KPO, I tried to provide him with more info about Singapore... and then when they finally visited Singapore together, I met up with them.. and that is how I found out that his then gf (now wife) was my JC senior!:)
Over the years, we kept in touch, we watched each other get married (Wes even attended my wedding during one of his trips back here!) and watched each other have children... with the invention of Facebook, I got to know his wife even better and they got to know Max better too...
In recent years, they have not been able to come back so often because their kids go to school... so I was really happy to know that Wes and his family will be coming to Singapore when we are back home :)
Ace was excited to meet up with Wes's daughters, AL and AV... and they had fun playing together with rubberbands, drawing together.. etc..
Because when we arrived, Wes's family had already arrived... so it was only when Wes stood up that Ace realized that Wes is very tall!:) wahahaha.. our families went supermarket shopping together and Ace says that he wants to grow taller than Uncle Wes the next time he visits (which is possibly two years later). Hahaha...
Looking at the huge difference in height.. I think it is very difficult lah :) wahahahaha...
Anyway, it was great to meet up lah.. too bad tat Max is not in SGP yet :)

I Want To Poop
Whenever I come back to Singapore, I try to make it a point to bring Ace out once a week at least. It can be to anywhere.. just so we can go out and spend some time together...
I happened to be having an off day and I asked Ace if he wanted to go swimming with me.
Initially he was rather excited.. so he said YES..
Then leh, he started watching videos on youtube and cartoons on okto and started to ask me to "WAIT"
So I waited and waited and waited and waited until finally, he was ready to go because finally at 4.30pm, it was Zeng Popo's turn to watch tv (they have some sort of agreement about who watches which channel at what time of the day) and so he finally kam wan to leave the house...
So we happily packed the swimming stuff and I got Ace to bring along his swim board.. cos that is the only way I would have been able to swim with him.. wahahahaha :) "Can you carry the board.. so that no one can tell I am the one who is going to use the board?" I teased him.. And he actually agreed...
And so, we finally reach the swimming pool, picked up a fengshui location to put our things and 10 minutes into the water, our good friend hor suddenly say he tummy ache.. I asked him to go toilet.. BUT he said he could not find the cubicle for pooping when he came running back from the toilet...
I asked if he could hold on a little longer and he said he will try.. so we played around in the water... we had contest to see who can reach the other end faster.... and we monkeyed around a little and then Ace announced that he only has LITTLE BIT of tolerance left.. and that he has to use it to walk home as he has decided to go home and poop...
So leh, after only 30 min in the pool... we went home :) Wahahahahah... Well, I guess it is better than nothing...
On a side note, when me and Ace arrived, we saw two indian man taking pictures by the pool.. as in, they were taking pictures of each other... and then hor, in the mere 30 min we were there, I observed that they walked around the whole pool with the phone in hand raised high in the air to camwhore themselves.... and then hor.. after taking alot of pictures, they go and dry themselves to change to go home! I wonder if they were really there to swim, take pictures or were actually only pretending but trying to take pics of bikini babes since it is common for people to wear bikini to the pool now....

It's My Number One Best Strategy
Ace was inivited to the birthday party of one of his friends in kindergarten..
Thinking that it is a good time for him to meet up with his friends, I brought him to the party, left him there, went to meet my frens and went back to pick him up...
Just about 30 min before we were due to leave the party, my son suddenly said that he needed to buy a new toy gun. I told him it is too late to buy a toy gun and he started to CRY! Because he said other people will not want to play with him if he does not have a toy water gun as the party was held by the poolside.. I told him that they can share with him and it was not possible to go buy his gun this last minute!
So he cried and cried and cried... and I was so fed up with him lor. Wah lau, 8 years old already and still cry over such a stupid thing...
Finally, I told him if he chooses to cry and if he is afraid of people laughing at him or that no one want to play with him.. then he can choose not to go to the party... So he boh pian.. cos going to the party is more impt.. and stopped crying lor...
I explained to him that I wanted him to go to the party because he can meet his friends.. but if my taking effort to buy present, send him to the party and pick him up is only met with more crying and tantrums, then what is the point of me making all the effort. Might as well let him stay at home and he wun have reason to throw tantrums..
After i picked him up, I asked him how was the party... he said that someone's older brother fought with him and so I asked him what happened...
According to Ace, when he arrived, his friends shared their water guns with him.. this boy came and snatched his gun and used the gun to shoot him... and even pushed him onto the floor..
I was curious what Ace did and if he stood up for himself... so I asked him, "What did you do then..."
"I cry!" he said very loudly.
I laughed at Ace because I told him..." Is that a good strategy? Does it solve anything?"
"Yes!" he exclaimed... "That is my number one BEST strategy!" He added... "Because his parents are there too!"
Wahahahahaha... wah lau eh, chao geng lor! Just where did he learn that from...
"SO what happened after you cry?" I asked..
"My friends all came to help me and console me and then brought me to his parents and so I can tell them what happened..."
"So what happened to him?" I asked. "He kenna scolding lor..."
Apparently, Ace's strategy worked.. so I cannot say he is wrong.. I gave it some thought and told him that I am glad to learnt to stand up for himself... but there might be other ways to stand up for himself which might work as well... because no one likes a tattertaller. For example, he can ask him to stop.. or talk to him to sort things out. Or he can just dun play with this boy and walk away...
I also asked him what he would have done if the boy's parents were not there... "Then I will walk away..."
I guess I am relieved that my son DOES know how to protect himself... he is indeed growing up!

On top of that, he recieved another new present... a LEGO GALAXY SQUAD set...
Am very happy... cos he actually built the whole thing by himself this time without my help.. previously, he always needed my help to complete it.. but this time he did the whole thing by himself!:)
This robert is very happening lor.. can shoot things and can open this and that.. and got the good guys and the bad guys.. so can do imagination play as well.
Too bad though, Ace lost the legs of one of the insect spaceship the very next day and he was quite upset...
He is very excited and says he wants to do a review of this toy and post it up onto youtube.. wahaha :)

Ace's BD Celebration WIth Godma Annie
The very lucky Ace hor.. even though his bd is already long over after he returned to Singapore, he still had many sessions of birthday celebrations with various people.
He met up with Godma Annie for a birthday celebration the other day... Godma brought him to eat his favourite SUSHI at Sushi Tei..
I was working that day and his godma went to fetch him from home and eat first.. I joined them later... the last pic, his godma took because she wanted to tell me the following story...
"I saw Ace eat and eat and then finally left one piece.. i think he was too full to eat liao.. so he din eat.. so I asked him why he din finish his food.. and he said, "I am keeping this for my mommy!" "
By the time I arrived though, that piece he LEFT for me was also already in his tummy.. wahahahahaha :)
Dunno why.. seems like once he is in Singapore, Ace's body has a different metabolic rate or what..
When we are in Dubai, Ace will only eat breakfast before school... and then in school, he eats a little during his recess and by the time he reaches home, he has lunch.. and then hor.. by 6pm, he will eat dinner and go to bed...
Here in Singapore, every hour or so, my good son will tell me that he is hungry.. and he will eat and eat non stop.. like he cannot be full like tat!:) wahahaha... Like in this particular case, Ace at something like 3 sets of the tong luo shao ice cream (shown in one of the pics above) lor! Horrigible...
Thank god he only has HOLIDAY SCHEDULE for two months and spends the rest of the time with a decent and disciplined diet.... But leh, everyone says his face round round now.. wahahaha..

8 Months Old Vs 8 Years Old
Ah Yee bought a play mat with a railing around for her son... but leh, end up the 8 mth old go inside, not very happy and dun like to stay inside.. the 8 years old leh, on the other hand, go inside and play and play with the toys inside.. lie inside and sing song for the 8 month old.. wahahaha :)
I laugh at Ace and say why he more excited than the 8 month old...
But Ah Yee stood up for him and said that he must have been too bored....
BEcause I am working on some days of the week.. and the other days I am not working, I am always going somewhere.. so Ace is always at home... with nothing to do.. other than watch youtube, there is nothing much for him to do.. and so, I think due to the extreme boredom, anything to play is better than nothing to play
Sigh.. must try to bring him out more.. if not so poor thing.. stay at home everyday...

Haw Par Villa With Long Time Friends
Just before I was due to come home, a friend asked if anyone is interested to go to Haw Par Villa for a shoot. Turns out that the friend (who works in a production company) is looking for someone who has visited Haw Par Villa in the past to go there again and be interviewed...
I thought it is quite interesting.. so I decided to volunteer myself and bring Ace lah. The friend then linked me up with his colleague and then she asked if I could ask more people along...
I asked around but my friends were either not free or had young children... so they were concerned that Haw Par Villa is too scary and might give them nightmares..
The night before we were due to go to HPV, I was talking to another good friend who said she has never been there before and so we made a date to go together with her two girls.. who are long time friends of Ace as well... Ace and this two jie jie have long time affinity one... they seldom meet up but when they do.. they usually hor behave like long time friends like tat...
Anyway, I was told to bring along my old photos taken and HPV and my grandma helped me find some photos lor:)
Gosh, seriously, without the photos, I wouldnt have remembered anything else about HPV except the 10 courts of hell.. apparently, everyone i spoke to also only had one memory of it.. most of them were so traumatized that they had nightmares after visiting. So I decided I had to do some prep work for Ace....
That's me a little more than 30 years ago.. hehehe..
Before we left.. I told Ace that we were going to a place that I visited when I was very young. I always wanted to go back again but never did because it is so far away... and later, you had to pay alot of money as entrance..
And then I told him about the 10 courts of Hell and told him it is based on a legend... and some stories from long ago... not necessarily true stories...
Lucky for us, the MRT now leads us straight to HPV...
Here we are at the entrance.. apparently, they took away the dragon... cos it was too expensive to upkeep.. HPV is now govt owned and is free entry...
Ace making friends with the sound technician and helping to hold the microphone :)
Ace and O Jie Jie looking at the map..
We decided to start off with the scariest part of the visit..
The least scary set of statues there.. ahahaha:)
It is not as scary as I remembered it even though there is alot of blood and gore..
This is the city for people who were wronged and died as a result.. it is set for them to watch the people who wronged them enjoy their desserts..
As we finished visiting all the 10 courts and viewing all the various punishments for the various crimes, Ace started to purse his lips.. when we asked him why.. he said he is disturbed because he knows he sometimes wastes a little bit of food... hahaha :)
I explained to him again that it is not true and also, as long as he is aware and make a different choice and dun waste food from now on, it is still ok...
I asked Ace if he understood what this is about... he says he doesnt... so I explained that the daughter was being fillial to the mother by feeding her her milk that is meant for the baby...
After that, there were still many things to see.. it is a great pity that all the explanation boards are old and blur.. so I couldnt read many of the stories..
we even found a statue of liberty inside!!! :)
Ace and O says, "We are taller than madam white snake and xu xian!"
Then it is time to say goodbye to HPV :)
The kids started to complain that they very hungry.. so we went to Mac Donalds for lunner :) THat is a cross between lunch and dinner... very good lor.. got T jie jie as leader.. the kids in charge of buying food and cleaning tables... me and their mummy just continue to chat :)
Walked around this stationary store and the children got excited and started drawing together :)
Then we went to Toys R Us at Ace's request :)
To my surprise, all three kids enjoyed it immensely! And T jie jie who is almost double Ace's age actually shared the love for the same toys as Ace.. no wonder they so gum key...
My friend bought her daughters and Ace a bouncing ball each... check out all their happy faces!
Ace showing off his martial arts skills to T jie jie because she knows martial arts too..
Hahaha.. T jie jie very cheeky.. keep wanting to steal Ace's kiss :) Managed to kiss left and right cheek! wahahahahaha....
