Make A Nila

I read online that there is some sort of event going on on Sunday.. it is called Make A Nila and they are calling for people to go to NTUC and make a small NILA soft toy for the Sea Games. Nila is the official mascot for the SEA Games and the mascots wil be given to all the different athletes...

It was happening on a Sunday morning and so me and Ace had to get there ourselves. We ate some breakfast and made our way there bright and early.. turned out that the NTUC that we chose was not so easy to find and it took us a while before we found it..

When we arrived, we were given a packet each....

Inside each packet is this limpy cloth tat had to be stuffed up to be made into a soft toy... Ace says he wants to stuff.. But I will have to sew... It also came with clothes that you can design to customize it...

And also a card that you can fill in and hang around the soft toy after it is done...

Simple instructions..

Actually hor, though the instructions look simple... it is not that simple.. I took 3.5 hours to complete both Nilas together with Ace. Usually a person will take about 2 hours to complete one according to the staff there...

Stuffing the NIla requires skills cos hor, if you dun stuff properly, the nila's limbs will be soft and it will be difficult for Nila to put on his or her shoes later...

Sewing is another complicated affair cos you dun want to the cotton to not go into the "grooves" of Nila's fiery red mane..

While I was sewing, Ace was designing the tshirt..

I am a little amazed with his tagline on the shirt:) Wow.. how did he come up with that:) haha

I asked Ace to try sewing a little bit cos I was not done yet and he had some time on his hands.. He sew a while and say hand pain.. wah lau.. useless...

This is how Nila looks like after it is stuffed and sewn up..

Ace's creation..

Mine:)

My design inspiration is how LOVE makes the world a better place... and also 2015 is drawn to remember this special year.. I also made laces for the shoes of my NILA:)

Ace's design... it is colourful because it is supposed to be a happy design:)

Love his tagline..

Each Nila comes with a serial number and so go buy 4D!!!:)

After we were done, we realized hor, not only were we given a packet of milo to drink while doing this (i gave mine to Ace cos he says he very hungry and thirsty), we were given a goody back tat has a packet of those powdered milo.. a pack of 6 packet milo with straw, a milo cup...

THe lady opposite us said that we are very lucky cos the P5 students in school also had to do the same thing but they will be doing it free.. we still get a goody bag...

Anway, 好心有好报 right... cos we were contributing to the country.. a country gave away free ice cream to promote their tour packages and also to contribute to our well being ;) wahahahha

I certainly hope whoever gets our Nilas will like them:)
