Then Max suggested going to Cameron Highlands and
Genting... since he hasn't been there in years. Ace says he doesnt fancy
just going to farms at CH so we ended up deciding to go to Genting and
KL :)
Early
morning woke up to pack. Yeah... can use my xmas pressy! I packed alot
of extra things because DYM is due for a visit and because I thought I
might go exercise in the gym or something.. Anyway, driving mah, bring a
little bit more is ok mah:) And lucky I brought extras cos Ace ran out
of shirts and had to wear one of mine:)
Now that we are all packed, time to go have breakfast and eat our fav veg wanton mee before making our way there....
Driving
there was by itself some sort of adventure. The very clever Max
suggested Ace bring this cushion we bought for our sofa to use as
bolster.. heng ah... cos Ace really slept using that throughout the
trip.
As I did not rest well the night before, I was
literally zzzing most of the drive towards genting too.. leaving poor
max to just drive..
Drove past the countryside and saw cows eating grass....
While
searching for it, drove past this interesting coffeeshop that was right
next to the... YES.. next to the traffic lights:) hahahahaha...
Arrived at the restaurant but it looked suspiciously like a non vegetarian restaurant.....
Ace
was sniffing away... and we asked if he would like to have coconut
water.. he said NO.... he wanted coke. Then he started sneezing.... so
we swapped coconut for his coke lah... sigh...
That is him trying to dig out all the "meat" inside the coconut:)
The restaurant is a normal restaurant... BUT it does feature a few vegetarian dishes...

Found
out later after the meal there is wifi so logged on for a short
while...thinking I can login again at the hotel.. WRONG.... that will be
the last time I log in to the internet for long long time after!
hahahahaha
On the way again!
So
as we went along, we realized... that the air from the aircon is
getting warmer and warmer and warmer... siao liao.. if the car air con
spoil.. dun tell me we gotta tahan the heat all the way through the
trip!
In the end, decided to just stop somewhere with
workshop and see if it can be fixed or something. Max very clever.. any
how drive drive and found his area full of workshops...
THe
gor gor helping us check what is wrong.. he took out the glove
compartment to check. I never knew the glove compartment can be pulled
out!
And he said cannot tell what is wrong...
Then
this old uncle cameout.. he is boss of the workshop.. he asked his
staff why is he even checking... "We cannot fix even if really spoil....
this is continental car... we dun have spare parts at all..." and told
us to go find another workshop that has continental parts....
I was thinking the uncle why so mean one...
Then uncle did his magic...
He
asked where we were driving from... we said Singapore.. then he told
us.. if we have been driving on long expressway rd from SGP to Msia..
cannot on air con and full blast.. if you do... the condenser will
FREEZE... and then it will not work properly and so your air con not
cold. He said.. "Just off your aircon for half an hour.... then turn it
on again. But dun turn full blast.. full blast only when driving around
in the city. If on expressway, aircon turn down abit..."
Wah...
GOD OF CARS! I take back my thoughts about uncle being mean! He is
right lor.. once we followed his suggestion, no more problem.. and he
never even need to touch our car or take out anything to check!
That is why they say, 姜还是老的辣... the experience older workers have really cannot be ignored..
Yay! Aircon back to normal!
Saw
a funny car... the car so nice wor.. why wanna go get some car plate
tat says TAXIo1 leh? hahahahahaha.... But maybe it is uber or grab car
Misty mountains ahead! We know we are near!
Ace very shiok... zzz for most part of the trip:)
Finally going up the mountain!
Along the way they planted so many nice, beautiful trees... almost feels like we are in europe or something:)
Finally at Awana Hotel... Aircon temperature naturally! SHiok!
Read the night before it is supposedly 5 star family hotel that is perfect for families with kids....
But
our first disappointment came... when we found out.. this hotel is so
old, it has not internet... even paid internet only available at hotel
lobby!
But I guess if you are looking to unplug and
detox yourself from your phone, this is a good place to do so:)
hahahaha.. Max said there is a golf course here and initially thought of
bringing his stuff to play golf. I asked him if he is sure... i mean..
this is family trip right... if he go play golf.. we do wat?
THe
whole place seems very in line with nature like tat lah.. lots of
pictures of plants found on these surrounding hills... one of the hills
has lots of pitcher plants..
There is even a nice mini garden in the hotel..
Seems like they offer alot of nature related activities like walks and such as well in the hotel...
At any rate, the scenery is beautiful lah:)
Feels so magical!
Ace chillaxing... boh internet.. so can only sleep and watch tv:) hahaha
After
a little rest, we decided to venture up the mountain and the only way
to get there is to take cable car.... so Ace was very excited..
Walked past this and Ace said that he wanted to do this one of the days...
Realized that the mini garden pond we passed by earlier has koi fish inside.. naise:)
Walked
past this poster... looks interesting wor:) Decided tat we should sign
up and do it tomorrow.. But hor, the hotel is poorly managed.. We call
the number no one picked up.. so we ask conceirge, concierge say ask
golf counter, golf counter says ask another counter.. basically no one
knows who else to call or ask lor.. sibeh jia lat...
But we were lucky.. just as we were asking around after our third redirection, the person said ask Eddie... "There he is..."
So we made an appointment to do it the next day! ;)
Ace was so impressed with this pitcher plant.. we were told this is "harvested" from one of the mountains in the genting area.
Though Christmas is over... the whole hotel still in very christmas mood:)
Decided
to go walk walk in the area since the bus tat will take us to the cable
car station wun be here till about 10 min later:)
Max
is all dressed up.. cos he wants to go to the casino later.... this is
also the LAST photo in this nice looking shirt.. cos someone forgot to
bring it home:) hahaha
Bus
lai loh.... More "sightseeing" on the bus... cos though the place we
are going to is very near... the bus takes quite a long time to go
there... looping here and there...
And here we go into the cable car...

This
picture deserves a special mention.. because.. the lights of the sign
on the building came on the moment I was taking the photo!
Before we came, someone told us Genting closed down all the fun places and very boring now...
When we reached the Star Avenue, and saw this.. I was thinking.. siao liao... very beautiful.. but nothing here!
Then
walked and walked.. and found the older part with shops... Ace saw this
and kept saying he wanted to go to the huanted house.. I was surprised
cos I thought he would be scared but he kept saying he wants to go, he
wants to go... and I was thinking.. "Wah.. my boy has grown... grown
braver too.."
The
last time I visited this place was almost 18 years ago. the whole place
looks so different. We came here for family trip shortly after the
death of my grandfather to cheer Laoma up.
Then
we walked around to try to find dinner... walk and walk cannot see
anything nice to eat.... Then Ace saw this place that sells his favorite
Chee Cheong Fun and he says he wants to eat.. alas, tat one is inside
casino area lor... children cannot go in..
So end up we decided
to eat in this chinese food place.... and Ace was grumpy... I told him
CCF everywhere in malaysia also have lah... dun need to be so grumpy...
Ordered our food and then best father in the world said he will try go in casino to dabao for Ace...
Our food came and we started eating..
After very longtime, Max finally came back with a cup and a tissue covering the cup.
Turns
out that they dun allow dabao.. but that doesnt stop Best Dad In The
World... he just improvise lah... this CCF super ex.. $8 lor.. all fit
into such a small cup niah!
After our meal, went to walk walk...
Then Ace bugged his dad and say want to go to the Huanted House again.. I asked him if he is sure and he says he is...
Looking at all these scary deco.. he still not scared leh!
His
dad says hve to go ATM first and while waiting... we realized tat this
gorilla sitting at the roof of the ticketing counter is a real person
who moves!

Taking the lift up...
Before
they went in... I told Ace I will go Adidas to shop..after they are
done, if they dun see me at ticketing counter, means I am in Adidas..
Then
hor, I finished shopping there and still no sign of them so i walked
away to other shops.. when I finally came back to Adidas.. saw Max
there.. and Ace... looking glum...
I walked over to Max and asked "how is it?"
And then walked over to Ace and the moment he saw me.. he hugged me and cried in my arms!
That is his dad trying to tell me wat happen without laughing too much...
So
apparently, our good friend DID NOT really know what is a haunted house
and did not know wat to expect.. when he went in and all the moving
props moved to scare him, he cried and said he wants to go home liao..
but there is no way out so his dad tried to tone down the scaring by
scaring the moving props back....
And I tot he grew up and became braver! hahahah
Then we went shopping lah... bought our CNY clothes
Saw this minion bag.. so cute hor
They also have som sort of snow place like Dubai!
Scared
Ace will be hungry so hunted around for snacks to buy. Bought some
chocolate muffins for him to bring home and we made our way back alone
while his dad stayed on to try his luck..
View back has literally nothing.... Cos it is pitch dark all over...
We
realized we can only take photo when the cable is going through the
pulley portion were there will be lights.. so we tried to take wefies
whenever we have light:)
Finally reached the station and went to wait for our bus... WHile waiting for our bus, Ace noticed something interesting..
Ace
said that this sign is upside down.. because smoke from a cigarette
should go up.. not down:) hahahahaha.... And he asked why the sign is
slanted. I told him because the person who put the sign up has poor work
attitude:) hahaha
Finally back in our room.. Ace eating his muffins while watching cartoons on his fav Cartoon Network...

No wifi.. sibeh boring.. so play with cam app...

I
realized I have lots of games in my phone I dun play anymore.. hahhaa:)
Ace enjoyed one which is a IQ puzzle... and he liked it so much he
asked to play pretty often throughout the trip.
Then leh, we zzzz lah.. dunno wat time will Max be back.
