Go The Fuck To Sleep
Ace fell sick today...
In the morning while he was waiting for the bus, I noticed he kept rubbing his nose.. so I suspected it was going to be a bad nose day today...
True enough, by 9.30am, his school nurse, Mrs Frisk, called me and said that Ace is having a bad running nose.. and asked me if she could feed him some cold medication... I gave her the green light and then at around 12.30 in the afternoon, she called again and said that Ace has gone to her again as his running nose is back and he says that he is feeling very tired.. so he is currently sleeping in her room... she asked if i could pick him up and assured me that he was not having any fever and was just tired...
I told her that I did not have a car at the moment and if I guessed correctly, Ace will probably recover after a good sleep... tat is cos i think i passed this bug to him cos the day before, i was exactly the same way.. But nothing I cant heal with a good night's sleep...
Anyway, Ace came home at 3 and I made him take a nap at 4.. so he slept till 6 and woke for dinner... and then we watched Johnny English and Evan Almighty together and before we know it, it was time to go to bed again...
Alas, this little boy is quite awake and so was happily singing to himself... I closed the door of our bedroom so that there will be less light and hopefully, he can start SLEEPING...
And then I came across a link in FB.. showing a youtube of a grandma reading an interesting story book.. it is called Go The Fuck To Sleep.... How apt it is for me now:)
I found it quite interesting and googled it... Okie, so it is actually a chidlren's book for adults.. not really a children's story book.. since it consists of the F word.... Found the PDF format of it and read it... it is HILARIOUS lor! Only a parent who has a kid who does not want to sleep will be able to write it and relate to it lor...I must say those excuses mentioned are ones tat Ace use often enough on me too.. wahahahahaha...
Anyway, it's very apt and describes how I feel now... hahaha... I am now at the last part though.. where I am going to fall the fuck asleep.. hahaha:)
Nitez...
PS: Ace just told me that the bus driver says they are not allowed to sleep on the bus and he is mighty pissed because he loves to spend his waking hours playing and sleeping on the bus.. wahahaha.. very time effecient in this sense:) He insists that he is very tired after school and needs a nap in the bus.. once he reaches home however, even as tired as he is.. without the nap, he still wants to play and read books..wahahaha.. and still only sleeps at 10 plus at night.. our neighbour's daughter who is on the same school bus goes to bed at 8 and sleeps at 9 everyday lor!:)

Ace Wins Some Awards
Remember in the assembly post where I mentioned, that during assembly every week, different kids will recieve aknowledgement for good things they might have done in the week?
The first one Ace recieved was a special award for settling down in Horizon and making friends some one week after he started school... how cool is that?:P
I am proud to announce that since then, Ace has collected a second certificate of achievement...
I have often wondered wat is their judging criteria and whether they are doing it because they try to find reason to give different kids awards throughout the semester to encourage them or are they really giving it out because the kids are really doing a fantastic job...
Anyway, Ace recieved an award for collecting, recording and interpreting information about buildings in Dubai.... I knew this few weeks their theme is UAE and they have been doing different things about the UAE like building their own souks, etc...
According to Ace, only two children in his class got the award this week. The other child got it for something else and he is the only one who got the award for this... wah.. I dam proud and happy for him:) hehehe...
I think he was given the award probably really because he was really doing well.. because we were driving and we drove past this building next to an mrt station and I just casually mentioned that this seems to be the Emirates Building station... and Ace immediately corrected me, "It's not Emirates Building, mummy.. that is Emirates Tower.. I studied about it..."And then he went on to tell me about Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and also Burj Al Arab...
Impressive!:P I am looking forward to when he gets yet another certificate!:)
PS:
This is a Emirates Tower building that Ace made for his UAE project..:)

Ice Kachang In Dubai!
The last time I came to Dubai, Max told me that someone brought him to this place where they had ice kachang... but try as we might, we just couldnt find the place because he merely remembers it being located in international city, but international city is huge and has got poor town planning and so we were just driving in circles without finding the place...
Then the other day, our friend Fayth told us it is at C10 block and by chance during our weekly chinese supermarket shopping, we discovered it is actually near the supermarket:) yipee! And so we decided we will come back another day for dessert:)
Initialy, I wanted to order an Ice Kachang but Max says that ice kachang is just ice... and suggested that I order a smoothie isntead.. which turns out though.. to taste more like yogurt ice cream type of iced dessert than the taiwanese shaved ice I was thinking about.. PLUS, it tastes better too!
The shop is very quaintly decorated.. i think probably by a woman.. who is rather artistic:)
This is the ice kachang I was lusting after...
This is wat we eventually ordered and it is yummylicious lor! the peanut they grind until so fine together with some sort of ice cream or wat lor... tastes heavenly!
The other one we ordered is the mango one...
That is Max and his very nice iced tea... apparently there are three other flavours for this smoothie and so we think we will come back and try them another time:)
Wah.. so nice ah?!
Max savouring the 'ice cream'....
Anyway, we were told there is a la mian place nearby and we went there for lunch... I din really like the lamian though.. but the fried brinjal and egg with tomato is good... the only thing is that we were too full and had to dabao the cold veg salad home....
The salad..after being out in the sun for quite a while smelled funny when I took it out of the box when I reached home. In fact, the smell of it made me want to vomit lor... but once you started eating, it was quite ok liao...
Max went out for a soccer game and a drink with his friends and when he came home, he decided to fry the cold veg and add an egg.. he says he turned out to be rather tasty.. wahahaha.. I din try lah.. cos I was toooo full by then to eat anymore after the buffet we had the day before:)
But I guess I dun mind going there again:)
PS: We also dabao the tomato fried egg tat we couldnt finish and for dinner, I just cooked noodles and added that in to make Ace a meal.. he loved it so much he asked me today if I could cook that again for him for dinner... sorry pal, I dunno how to cook like what they do...

Visiting Daddy's Office
Max's company has shifted their office in Dubai. Instead of being 45 mins away from home, it is now a mere 5 minutes away from home.. which is good.. cos it means he can be home earlier and maybe go take a job or we can go out after dinner if we want;)
Anyway, he was tasked as the main co-ordinator in the dept for the shift and so he had to go back to the office over the weekend just to see if everything is unpacked already...
He asked Ace if he would like to visit his office and Ace very excitedly said YES:)
When we arrived at the lift lobby of the office building, a strange sight greeted us....
Who in their right mind will put goats and ostriches in their main lobby... so errie right?
I told Max I suspect there is some fengshui thingy involved because no one in the right mind will do this sort of thing.. and true enough, when we passed by the main door I saw two stone lions standing in front and two paintings of galloping horses by the side of the doors.. confirm is fengshui!
Anyway, this is Max's table.. Ace is sitting down and looking here and there at his daddy's table...
Before we arrived, Max said his office has the best view ever... so much so for BEST VIEW...wahahaha.. Max expl;ained later though that it is relative.. cos the other people facing other directions have worst views.. oh well..watever, this is dubai.. no matter where you look out of, it is just sandy sand colour... unless you stay by the sea.. if not, this is typically what you see no matter where you stay:)
Daddy's desk...
After about 5 minutes, Ace asked me if he can draw something.. I think he wants to re-decorate daddy's desk or maybe add his own special touch:)
Just before we left, he gave his drawing to his dad...
So max says he will pin it up at his cubicle so that he can think of Ace whenever he looks up...
SWEET:P

Dinner At The Palm
Inside the Palm, there is only a very small section that is open to public and to the people who are not staying there... it is the section that leads to the Atlantis Aquaventure park.. it is kind of like the big splash but bigger and features things like dolphin feeding etc... but not cheap lor.. go there for one whole day for my family will cost something like 600aed.. which is like 200 sing...
We were walking around and trying to find a nice restaurant that we can go to and then this lady stopped us and said that if we walk inside, we have to pay 30 aed each to view their aquarium.. we said we were just looking for our restaurant and she just let us walk in lor... so in the end, we got to see the aquarium for free!:)
This is how up close and personal you can get with the fish!:)
The actual size of this "window" is much larger hor... and as you walk.. there are so many panelsof this...
This fish very funny one.. always next to the window and waiting to pose with us:)
Very ugly fish hor?:P
Stingray!!!
And there are these yellow schools of fish that swim around together in a group... I kept my eye on them and noticed that though.. most of the fish know when to turn, there are still one or two blur ones that will get lost.. hahaha
Ace enjoying his buffet dinner.. I think he dam happy cos got his fav salad.. and then we forced him to eat some rice and some pizza as mains and afterward, all hell break lose liao..
These are the only things he has his eye on lor.... and he was so excited to see jellybeans... I know tat jellybeans are a ang moh type of sweet so I am surprised how come he know they are called jellybeans and so I asked him.. and he said, "Hop lah... " stood up, show me his bum and said, "Boooooot... the rabbit in hop shits jellybeans..."
Actually there is quite alot of selection lah.. there is sushi, bread, salad, italian food with risotto counter, indian food, "chinese" food and hell lot of cakes and snacks lor....
And I nevver see before buffet hor got whole row of candy one lor.. Ace go crazy totally!
And so many cakes!
And chocolate fondue too!:)
After we finish eating, Ace was so full he had to walk rounds around the table..wahahaha.. I ate so much tat next day whole day i was still feeling full....
On our way home, we saw this strange machine.. it is a dispensing machine that allows you to buy GOLD! You just choose wat type of gold you like, swipe your card for it and get it dispensed out to you!
It is all the gold coins or pendants with atlantis design on them...
The night view on the way home..
Ace was too full and feeling sick in the car.. he had to lie down in the car all the way home.. tat will teach him not to eat too much the next time.. wahahahaa:) I din have this problem since i mostly stuffed up on veg:)
Anwyay, it was a lovely lovely trip that I really enjoyed;)
