Home Alone Ace

When you are overseas and things aren't going well at home, it can be quite upsetting..

Just the other day, my sis sent me and all the Peng Family cousins a whatsapp message that our grandma wasnt eating. For some unknown reason, she has been refusing food.. even her favourite ice cream...

So she asked us to chant for her and when I told Ace about it, he said we should chant together for Laoma.. and we did..

That is him chanting while eating his dinner...

At the same time, I received news that I have to attend a meeting but Max has soccer and won't be back till two hours later. After some discussion with Max, we decided we will let Ace have his first taste of HOME ALONE :) Hahaha...

So after making dinner and making sure Ace finished his dinner, I told him to go bath, pack the house a little and go to bed....

This is how messy the house is.. and why I asked him to pack up....

Ace threw toilet paper in the air as celebration when he heard the news because he says he can reenact HOME ALONE.. wahahaha

Crazy boy...

And true to what I expected.. the short meeting was sort of long.. hahahaha...

By the time I was done, it was 8 plus.. when I called back, Ace asked me to run back quickly because he was really  bored... "I am so lonely because both of you are not at home.."

And so, the brave little boy survived alone at home for about 1.5 hours and had his first taste of freedom.

But.. he did not abuse this freedom. WHen I returned and asked him what he did, he said he finished up his homework, cleared up some of the mess in the house and took a bath and then he watched tv while waiting for me to come back :) wahahaha...

Looks like we might really be able to steal some time and go dating for a short time now... Haha :)

PS: After all the prayers and chanting by all the Peng family sons, daughters, cousins, happy to announce that grandma is eating again. Ace was really concerned. The next day when he came home from school... he asked me if Laoma was eating. I told him that when I asked Ah Yee, she said that laoma started to eat already. He asked what food she was eating.. and I told him I don't know. And so he told me, "Can you please go and ask Ah Yee? I want to know.. I want to know if she ate nutritious food or she ate only junk food..." Shows that he really cares lor... Laoma 没有白疼这个小瓜 and I think it was his blessing that he got to know her before she suffered from dementia and had the experience of her taking care of him and also feeding him...

Civic Minded Ace

Does Ace look good in my PINK apron?:P Wahahaa.. He says he doesnt want to dirty his clothes and always uses my pink apron when he washes the dishes now:)

My little boy has been obsessed with cleanliness recently.

While he was in toilet, he and another friend, L, were so disgusted with the state of the boy's toilet in school, they used part of their playtime (the most important time to him in the whole wide world) to help clean the toilet up on their own without any instruction from any teacher...

When I asked him why he did that and asked if he did it because his teacher said so or his friend said to do so, he said "I wanted to clean the toilet because I want it to be clean. It was disgusting, mummy. There was toilet paper on the floor everywhere.. I think the toilet cleaner must be the happiest that we helped to clean up..."

Wah.. impresssive leh... so I gave him a high five for a job well done..

The next day, he said he helped to clean the art room.

This time though is because the Teacher said if they do not clean up the art room, they will ALL not be given any playtime...

Play time is like the most important part of his school life and the thought of no PLAY TIME was just absolutely HORRIBLE!

So he helped to clean up lor...

But he complained to me... "You know, mummy, it is so unfair. Even though the teacher said there is no play time if we do not keep the art room, there were some people who still did not help and in the end when the art room is clean, they got their play time anyway..."

Well, life IS like that one lor... I told him the most impt thing is whether WE want the playtime and if we do, WE DO WHAT IT TAKES.. nevermind what the others do lah :)

I just wished though, that Ace paid more attention to cleanliness and tidiness at home :)

PS: We just bought him a little drawer and a vegetable rack with wheels for him to keep all his barang and now his study desk looks much neater. Next will be to de-clutter his toy desk and toy drawers!

PPS: He has been helping to wash the dishes lately to earn money.. SHIOK AH!:) But hor, he only wash plates, cutlery and cups.. never wash my pots and pans! Hahahaha... Must train him to do that next!

I Am Like Old Man Now

Once a year, Ace will have a school triathlon of dancing, throwing ball and skipping for 10 min each. And they will solicit donations in support of them doing that...

Many thanks to the generous aunties and uncles who supported Ace in his "triathlon". I am happy to report that Ace...
- danced for 10 min...
- threw ball for 10 min..
- skipped for 10 min...
as promised...

And while it seemed easy on paper... for Ace, it was really much of a struggle... hahaha

In his words, "You should have seen me mummy.. by the time I was done, it was like it was raining even though I was indoors!"

I think he really worked hard at it.. tonight he complained that he ankle pain, joint pain and shoulder pain... hehe:)

"Mummy, I here pain there pain like old man now..."  He said..

Wahahahahaha...

He asked me why since people were going to donate, they are still required to to work so hard for the money. Why couldnt they have just asked for donation.... :"Why did they still torture us children?"

I explained to him the concept of giving to him like that lor.. "giving" is an energy mah. In this arrangement, people with money will give money, and as he is a student, he does not have much money, so he gives his effort in doing these things and when the effort multiply with his effort, the money he gives brings along more energy of love and blesses those who receives the money as well.

Dunno if he understand or not...

Trapped By A Spider

Ace has been learning about Spiders and their webs..

He borrowed a Horrid Henry book about bugs and we learnt about the many different types of spiders and how they actually catch and eat their prey....

The other day, while we were on our way to lunch, he suddenly exclaimed in the car that he was caught by a spider.... "Mummy, mummy! Look! I am caught by a spider..."

I turned around and this is what I saw...

Dam boh liao this boy.. wahahahaha...

Seriously, after vomitting many pints of blood and struggling to teach Ace chinese, I really DUNNO whether to laugh or to cry when I saw this piece of homework handed in to me....

Best part is, after I corrected him, he does it AGAIN in the next piece of homework!

*sings* 神阿,救救我吧!

In fact, I am thinking he has so many hilarious mistakes maybe can compile them and make them into a joke book!:) wahahahaha...

Using The iPad

Ace requested to use the iPad for 30 min and since he has finished his school work for the week, I said ok lor...

5 min before the 30min due to end..

Me: Ace, 5 more min..
Ace: Ok.

On the dot when the 30 min is up...

Me: Ace... your time is up...
Ace: Ok, wait, I am buying something...

2 min later..

Me: Oi, your time is up.. you tell me you buying something, i turn around and see.. you are playing..
Ace: Yeah, I was buying and now I have to test it out what...
*PENGZ*

Wah lau, nowadays, he always has some ready retort on hand one leh.. how can it be that he says he is bad in debate?????

But I am thankful lah... at least he will ask before he use...

Anyway, the other day, he told a lie... he did not complete his work but said he completed it and went to play ipad. His punishment? No ipad for ONE MONTH. Hahahahaa...

So far he is surviving by sneaking my old iphone around or watching tv...  and playing with toys he has forgotten that he owns...

We were talking about how these games are not good for children because they can easily become addicted... and he said, "Yes, and you helped me by giving me cold turkey treatment!" (referring to the one month ipad ban at home) Hahahaha.. YES, I am so happy he cannot use ipad for one month! wahahahaha...

I Lost My GShock!

About few weeks back, Ace came home and kept telling me how good a GShock watch is... and it ended with "And everyone in my school has got a G Shock!"

"Everyone?" I asked him.. and when I named a few of his classmates, he says they all have got one.. and so he is determined to also buy one.

F said she will pay for half of it as a BD present.. And Ace dun want.. strange boy this one. Cos he says if only half, the other half means he has to xin ku and make money for it.. so he rather dun want.. wonder why me and max will have such a lazy son with this sort of slacker attitude man...

Dunno how, he managed to polosoh his dad to share share and buy one in the end.. cos he only saved 120 dirhams.. so his dad will pay the rest..

The father and son spent so much time looking at watches online... throughout our Istanbul Trip, Ace driving me nuts with Gshock this, Gshock that....

And finally, Ace bought his new GShock. Pick and choose hor.. in the end still did not choose the cheapest one.. wahahha.. want world time lah.. solar battery etc lah.. and this is the one he chose...

But to give him credit, he chose this plain black design because, "I want it to last a long long time and black wun get dirty easily and will last a long, long time..."

And since he bought the watch, he has been wearing it to school. (In my opinion it is to haolian and show that he ALSO has a gSHOCK.. he was so shiok when his friends say his watch is awesome..)  I told him, dun wear to school lah.. wear two days hao lian finish put at home... in case you lose it..

He ignore me and continue to wear the watch..

His dad say, "Don't bring to school lah.. in case you lose it. Put it at home and wear during weekends.."

He ignore his dad and pretend he never listen...

I told myself. It is his watch, let him learn to take care of it then...

AND THEN... today, someone comes home and announce to me, "I lost my GShock!"

Faintz...

This is called 不听老人言,吃亏在眼前!

But I was little surprised.. usually, he will throw tantrum or cry. This time, he looks very calm...

I asked him when was the last time he saw it and he says that he last saw it when he was in the car on the way home cos the light reflected on it... and then he found out that it is gone just before he arrived home.

So it sounds like very likely it is in the car lor.. I told him I will message C's mum and ask her to check her car then. Asked him to better chant..

While he was chanting.. I messaged Max and told him "Your son lost his GShock.."

His dad's response? "Didn't we see that coming?"

Hahahahaha..

Then leh, lucky Ace.. C's mum messaged me and told me they found the watch and will pass to Ace tomorrow.

So I told Max found liao... Max asked if I told Ace and said, "Shouldn't tell him so soon.. let him worry a little more.." wahahaha..

So Ace heaved a sigh of relief and continued chanting cos he wanted to chant for Laoma... because Laoma has not been wanting to eat recently and we have been chanting together for Laoma...

I asked Ace later why he seemed so cool and did not cry or throw a tantrum and he said, "Aiyah, I grow up liao lah... " And then he went on to explain  that actually he was very scared that he will lose it. But he felt reasonably confident that the watch is in the car because:
  • He last saw it in the car on the way home (I remember the sunlight reflecting on it)
  • He discovered it was lost just when he reached home and was still in the car
  • He sees a very fresh print of the words from his watch that he sees when he takes off the watch... which means the watch only JUST dropped off
Heh.. little Sherlock Holmes leh..

Anyway, Ace says he regret NOT listening to me and his dad and he will keep his watch at home now.

PS: Somehow watches have a way of slipping off his wrist... he lost another watch while we were in china and it is also just lost like tat for no reason...

PPS: Now that he has achieved THIS target, he has been trying to bug us to buy him a HELMET to use when he goes swing scooting cos he says he wants to do stunts... faintz..and while he is at it, he says he will also need a stunt kick scooter...  why he has never ending list of things that he wants ah.. can someone tell him his lao peh dun print money?

Scrum!

I received an email informing me the other day that the Singapore National Men's Rugby Team will be having a match in Dubai...

Excerpt from the email is as follows:
The Singapore National Men's Rugby 15s (The Reds) will face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai on Wednesday, 23rd April 2014 in the Asian Five Nations (A5N) Division 1 competition.

This is an important international match as it will determine whether Singapore or UAE will stay in the Division 1 or be relegated to Division 2 for next year's A5N competition.

We hope to rally as many Singaporeans in UAE as possible to come down and to support our National team when they play on Wednesday.
 The details are:
Match: Singapore Vs UAE

Venue: The Sevens Stadium, Dubai
Ticketing: No tickets are needed as confirmed by host nation
Date: 23rd April, 2014 (Wednesday)
Kick Off: 7.30pm (Dubai Time)

Thank you.

So I gathered our Dubai Kakis and even though.. almost all of us DO NOT follow the sport and DO NOT understand the sport, WE ALL GAMELY ARRANGED to meet up to SUPPORT TEAM SINGAPURA!

It was a school night and the next day is also still a school day but me and Max decided to go because we also hoped that Ace will have a chance to watch his country in action. I remembered the time where me and my secondary school and uni mates will arrange to go watch Singapore play in the Malaysian cup and the euphoria we felt when we were cheering them on... I hope that Ace will also get to experience that as well.. and so, we made a decision to go despite it being a school day...

That day, Ace came back from school and said he told his friends that he was going to watch Singapore and one of his friends who watches Rugby matches told him that he predicts that Singapore will win... "Because UAE team is quite lousy.." he said.

So we hurriedly had dinner and went over....

As it was held in a sports club and the club is quite big, we were not quite sure where exactly the match is held. When we arrived, there was a match that has already started but there was no sign, and they did not have any national flag on their jerseys.. so I couldnt tell... PLUS very important, you wouldnt believe it but hor, both teams were filled with ANG MOHs.. so how to tell if this is the match we are looking for or not?!

Plus the crowd was pretty small.. and we were the only Singaporeans there.. felt a little disappointed on Ace's behalf... We were all geared up lor. We brought our SGP scarfs, Ace brought a noise maker and me and Max were dressed in red while Ace was  dressed in I LOVE SG!

We asked around and found out that THIS IS THE MATCH! So leh, we decided to find a place to sit down and watch the match lor:) Anyway, we were the earliest and none of our friends have arrived...

Ace was rather disappointed..  that the crowd was small and there is no chance for him to cheer.. plus.. we all did not really understand the match lor...

But since here, take some photos lah:) wahahaha...

Anyway, Max was my Rugby teacher that day and he tried to explain the game to me lah.. so I sort of can catch a little ball..

A little after we sat down, two of our friends arrived and another malay man and his son arrived. We just smiled at him and told him to sit down with us as we are the only singaporean supporters:) hahahaha....

I recieved the email from the Singapore Women's Group but to my surprise, no one from the group came at all.. I tot they all very on about this sort of thing...

But at least, whenever Singapore scores, we will ask Ace to blow his noise maker:) wahahaha

Eventually another family arrived... and here are our fellow Singaporeans who are here to support..

Half time and Max was super happy cos there was a beer cart where they dispensed beer... Okay, dispense is not the right word.. SELL is:) hahahaha...

Yes, and we scored another goal!

Team Singapore's supporters!:)

Max said hor, dun think that it looks very messy but actually it is a ruffian's game played by gentlemen... because they have alot of rules and techniques... when they pass the ball have to pass backwards and becuase of the rules and because they have to fake body movement so opponents dunno where they are passing, the end result is that they look like they are dancing!:) wahahaha

And then some parts they will carry someone up to catch the ball... also like dancing to me:)

The people who were there all brought their dua leng gong camera with their dua leng kong lens.. sorry ah.. I only brought my phone and this is the best I can capture:) wahahaha

THis is called a SCRUM... basically just people gathering together and then someone called the hooker has to hook the ball out...

And the match ended 30 vs 13! We won!!!!

Congrats all around to the Singapore Team!:)

I think the team members were excited to see fellow Singaporeans as well and so they said we should all take a picture together! :) And we did!

That sort of set the stage for me and Ace also..because for the longest time, we have been talking about watching SCRUM, a tv drama produced by a friend of mine:)

Now that both me and Ace understand this game better, it is a good time to watch the show lor.. and so we did.

I enjoyed the show (even though I would have prefered it to be acted by seasoned actors as I find most of the actors inside were stiff and too green that they were either mostly awkward or super exaggerated.... ) and Ace loved it.. he complained that it is too short and kept asking me when is Uncle YX going to make another tv show... wahahaha :)

Only thing I find it a pity that the drama was very focused on the storyline and somehow, the cinematography was not able to translate the beauty in the movements of a rugby game. I find the movements in rugby while very fast are very elegant and beautiful...Pity I feel that it did not get represented in the show...

PS: I am curious though why the SGP rugby team is mostly made up of ang mohs and not second or third generation Singaporeans.. Anyone knows why?

It's Easter...

Ace was doing his homework halfway.. and then he came over to ask me something. After I finished replying, I asked him to please go back and complete his homework...

And he turned around, squat down and said, "And I am going to hop back to my table because I am still in easter mood..."

"Please lah.. easter is already over.. easter was yesterday... today already not easter anymore..."I told him..

"Who says.." My son retorted without missing a beat... "It is still Easter in Amercia..."

I totally did not see  THAT COMING and I realized he is RIGHT!

Win liao lor..

I asked him how he knew it was still easter in America and he says he found out while using Google in school today for some work he is doing...

GOOGLE FOR THE WIN! wahahaha...

Drama Rama Ace

Ace has been having itchy eyes for a few days now... but it always got better I asked him to wash his eyes with the bar and also wanded it for him using my AMWand...

Yesterday, he asked me for the ipad password as he had already finished his homework. I told him he has to pack his toy and study area first before I will give him the password because it is getting really messy there...

And then halfway while packing, his eyes started to itch and he started to whine.. I told him to stop rubbing his eyes and go and bath..

And he just continued to whine and rub his eyes...

At this point, Max the volcano erupted and told him to go and bath.. "Don't you understand stop rubbing your eyes?"

And then Ace started to cry and cry and cry...

I told him that dirt is one possible cause of itchy eyes.. that is why we are asking him to take a bath and wash his eyes during bath time... and he just cried and cried and cried and complained it was very itchy.. and as he cried, he took off his clothes and then he stood in the middle of the bathroom and asked me...

"Why???? Why does this have to happen to me????!!" With his hands raised high up in the air...

I reminded him that Popo asked him to chant little bit every day but he did not. I told him chanting will mean gohonzon can protect you....

"Asked you to chant, you dun want and say chanting is too hard.. now then chant already your eyes are itchy lor..." I told him...

"I want to chant now.. I want to chant now!" he cried..

I told him he has to bath first....

And so he went into the bathroom to bath.. as he took a bath.. he sobbed uncontrollably... as if his father and mother died like that.. (I really wonder how he will cry if i die if just an itchy eye he cry till so cham).. cry and cry.... cry till bent over in the bathroom... I just ignore him and let him do his crying thing lah... I figured having lots of tears is good to wash the eye anyway.. haha!

After he finished bathing, I explained to him that itchy eyes can be due to a few reasons. One is dirt lah.. if your hands are dirty and you rub your eyes, the dirt goes it and you have an infection...and it turns your eyes red... That is why asked him stop rubbing and go and bath but he never listen... and if that is the case for him.. he will have to see a doctor and will not be able to go out this weekend... with that, he started crying again..

I told him that there is another explanation as things related to the eyes sometimes linked to our liver... If our liver is not so healthy.. it may lead to the itchy eye thingy too... to make liver healthy, we have to eat lots of dark green leafy veggies, have to sleep early also so our liver can do its work.. so he should sleep now...

I told him if he sleeps and wake up, it might all be ok.. he just needs to take some VP and sleep early.. and I will wand his eye and let him sleep with my AMWand...

"Can you fry lots of green veggies for me to eat tomorrow?" He asked me... and I told him I will..

And then he closed his eyes for me to wand...

"Mummy, now i know why Popo chant so much..."

"Yeah.. Popo chant so much for our happiness... she has to chant for you, me, gong gong, zeng popo, daddy, ah yee, cayden, net net, laoma... etc..." I told him.

"No, but the chanting will go mostly to her.." he told me. (Very impressed he remembers what I taught him..) "I know why she chant so much.. it is because when you chant alot, gohonzon will protect you.. and give you the wisdom to do the right things to keep healthy... I will do anything not to have itchy eyes again...I will chant like popo... "

Next day though, he woke up and his eyes were still little bit itchy... he ownself go and eat 50 VP.. wahahaha.. and then when I asked if he is chanting, he said he already chanted while sitting in the sofa...

As I am typing now, he is packing and cleaning his toys because he realized that his toys are dusty and that is one reason why his eyes were dirty and itchy... wahahaha:)

I Need To Prepare My Heart

We were watching Friend Zone.. a show on MTV where a boy or a girl will pretend that they are going on a blind date and ask their good friend to be their wingman. Their wingman doesnt know.. but actually the date was prepared so that the boy can tell her or the girl can tell him that he or she actually likes her or him and they get a chance to proceed from friends into MORE THAN FRIENDS:)

I very boh liao and so I asked Ace how he feels after watching this show. I asked him if he will tell the girl he has a crush on that he likes her...

"Yes.. tell is better..." he agreed..

But many of these pple dilly dally.. friends for 5 years then try to tell them leh.. so I asked him if he will tell almost as soon as he knows he likes the girl or he will wait and wait and wait...

"Need to wait.." he said.

"Why need to wait? Just tell lah.. wun die mah.."  I told him.... Cos me and max is action very fast one cos by then we dun want to waste our time liao.. wahahahaha

"Cannot tell immediately lah... need to prepare one.... " Ace said..

I was so curious what exactly he needs to prepare....

"I need to prepare my heart..." he said earnestly..

FAINTZ! Sounds like he knows more about relationships than I think! Wahahaha...
