Dinner Table Ping Pong

When we were in Dubai,we have been thinking of getting those sort of table tennis sets that you can use on your dining table. However, we did not have a nice dining table we can use to play.. so we kept putting the idea on hold...

Now that we are back in SGP and have a proper dining table, Max  decided that we will get it so that Ace and him can play ping pong at home.

As I was out, the two boys stayed home to play for the whole afternoon.

Ace enjoyed it so much that after we finished dinner together, he wanted to play again at night..

The end result though.. is that Ace complained that he has a "stomach ache" the next day.. and it was painful for about two days :)

I think all the twisting motion throughout the day worked out the muscles he did not know he had.. hahahaa:)

After a whole day of playing though, he did improve a little from losing 1-11 to only losing 4-11 when he tried to play with his dad. And he was also able to serve a little better:)

Not bad lah.. $20 can play whole day.. and can play again and again.. very wu hua:)

Minions!

 The things the parents will do for their kids..

When I saw the ad for the Mac Donald Minions.. I was thinking.."Siao liao.. have to eat Mac D every week till I sian again!"

The last time the minions were out as Mac Donald toys, we were in Dubai and I had to eat Mac D every week for a few weeks to collect all the minions! Eat till sian lor...

But Ace says he wants them.. and then it is launched at 11am every thursday.. so LL I have to go and queue to get them lor.

Somehow though, the queues not as crazy as the last time I think.. so I just meet up my hao jie mei in Mac D for breakfast and 11am come, go and queue.. actually only queued 5 minutes or so lah.. But thought of eating mac donald every week for next 5 wees is super duper sian lor...

 Then I asked Ace to travel to Mac D to meet me after his tuition...

Actually when I walked into Mac Donalds that day, I was a little surprised... because hor I was looking at my phone and at a glance, I am wondering what is this yellow yellow place because I remember this is mac donalds mah.. when I looked up, I was in for a big surprise! Mac Donald plastered Minion pictures all over! I wonder how much they paid for all these...

Anyway, Ace came, had his lunch and then said he wanted to take photos with the minions:)

The following week, his dad happened to be working from home and so we said we will go eat Mac D for breakfast and buy the sets when it reaches 11... we found out by chance that the Mac D near our house does not have any queue for minions:) hahaha.. woohoo! I am so going to buy from there after this!:)

 This is the "I hate eating Mac D look" hahahahaha:)

 Ace was so happy when we got the minons cos he said these two are those tat he likes:)

At night.. even brought him to eat minion ice cream:)

The following week, I was in a workshop and so poor daddy has to take over my role and go queue up to buy the minions... and have to eat Mac D AGAIN even though he hates it.. I hope Ace really appreciates and understands that all these is done out of our love for him...

Once and again... the things parents will do for their children.. sigh...

PS: Ace was mightly pleased tat day cos he said Cay gave him a minion towel which is so cool! Apparently Cay got it from some birthday goody bag and Ace asked if Cay can give him and the generous little boy said YES.. so Ace was sooooooooooooo happy:)

Ace's Doodles

Ace has many new notebooks and post it notes.. so the other day, he took them out and started doodling.. He said he is going to draw a phone for Daddy... Cos Daddy kept complaining that his phone is very lousy and very slow...

And he asked me if I thought this iPHAKE is nice?:P hahahahah.. It is a fake phone. and thus iPhake:)

And then he drew this very complicated comic ... One is him wishing for some presents and getting his presents and on the other hand, as a contrast, is a spoilt brat who has everything and lots of money.. and in the end, all he ever wanted on his birthday is a friend but he doesnt have that and so he cried..

On a lighter note, he did a comic about why Mums are #1 in the world:)

The summer break is about to start and the other day, one of Ace's classmates in Dubai did a skype session with him.

It has been a while since the boys talked and I think Ace already forgot how to speak with an accent and also had problem understanding his accent.

However, they were still calling each other BRO and in their conversasion was peppered with "Bro this" and "bro that".. hahahaha...

After he finished his skype, Ace was in considerably good mood. He was suddenly very boh liao and did those flying kiss pose and I told him I was going to try take picture of him doing that and posting online:) hahahaha..

So he will pose and when I whipped out my camera, he will laugh and change position...

Sibeh act cute right? Hahahahaha..

Anyway, Ace says now... whenever someone leans forward and rests their body on their desk while standing with the bum jutting out... someone in the class will say, "Miley Cyrus!"

Hahahahahaha...

He says one of his classmates who has the habit of doing that kenna called Miley Cyrus most often..

Kids these days....

Family Dinner At Home

The last time I cooked for my parents was when Ace was about three years old..

We were living in our old house then and I wanted to cook something for the. Alas, I was a lousy cook.  I remember that I tried fry veggie for them but the veggie I fried was terrible. I did not know tat you had to pluck the leaves of the veggies to wash them and fry them. I just wash them as they are and cooked them!

Then I did some soup a friend told me is very nice. I agar agar.. never practice before and then, it turned out to be bitter and yucky...

The only dish that was SORT OF ok was the vegeterian mutton curry tat I do every christmas.. haha

But my parents were happy I think because it was the first time they had any cooking by me.

Then I lived in dubai and started to learn how to cook and got better at cooking...

And since my dad and grandma have not visited my house before, invited them over for Fathers' Day celebration...

 First step is pack the house... so since have to pack the house, I entertained myself by doing a MINIONS exhibition.. hahahaha..

 After packing the house, time to start making food. I decided to make my 拿手好菜- braised niang bittergourd:) VEGETERIAN one okie:)

 After braising... My mum say very nice and asked me if it is really vegeterian:) hahaha

 And the 3 colour egg. Just before this, I watched a program that taught you how to make this dish and so this time round it looks a little more like those we eat in zi char stalls:) I am very happy with it:)

When I went to buy the duck egg,  I had to as the uncle which ones were duck egg and whether I had to cook the duck eggs. I think he one look can tell I dun go market often.. hahaha:)

 Hehehe.. I think my sis not very confident of my cooking:)

So she bought curry fish head, toufu, pork knuckles, etc along:)

So much food lor:) Eat till we so full:)

Ace was in a slightly bad mood and din play much with Cay...

Speaking of which, the other day he told me that he does not like to play with Cay because he is upset. I asked him what he is upset about and he complained that everytime he played with his cousin, everyone will give him stares and say cannot do this or do that...

"Who is the everybody you are talking about?" I asked him.. cos i dun remember anyone doing that... He looked hard at his dad and then looked at me again...

And then, to my surprise, he was actually quite aware and expressive cos he paused for a while and told me in a very small voice... "Actually another reason why I don't like to play with Cay is because when you all see him, you all give him all your attention.... I think I want more attention from you.."

Wahahahaah...  I told him a little difficult to give him attention when all he does is look at his phone and play phone games..

But I also made a mental note to include him when Cay is around and to give him more attention lah.

Hahahaha.. so old liao still jealous of a 3 year old.. hahaha:) I gently reminded Ace that he doesnt need to feel jealous because when he was 3 years old, he already enjoyed ALL the attention that 3 year olds get too:)

Anyway, part of it was also because Cay said wanted to play with him but did not want to share the toy Ace wanted to play with.. so Ace was small air and upset lah.

But leh, the other day, Ace's birthday mah.. so Cay sang him a birthday song and he went.."Awww... so sweet" and forgave Cay for everything!:) hahahaha

I Like Tennis!

Once upon a time, a very sporty young man decided that when he gets a girlfriend, he is going to get one who has short hair, loves sports like he does and they are going to do lots of sports together.

Alas, fate intervened and he eventually met, fell in love with and married the LEAST SPORTY PERSON ON EARTH! To rub salt to the wound, she had long hair too! She couldnt swim, she couldnt run. She couldnt ride a bike, couldnt play most sports and hated the sun. He was destined to lead a life where he had to pursue his passion for sports on his own...

Him taking part in a run and her all dressed up nicely for the beach to WATCH HIM RUN... And that was more than 10 years ago...

That is... perhaps... till they had a son.

As the little boy grew, it seemed obvious to everyone around that he had developed a passion for inactive hobbies like watching YOUTUBE VIDEOS, recycling junk, building cardboard weapons, reading comic books.. A little like his mother...

Alas, the young man, who is not so young now...is not one to resign to fate...

When his son started to be of school going age, he sent him to learn swimming...

He tried to send his son to Karate but his son gave up after a few lessons.




It did not help that his son could not run very fast, had poor stamina and had poor ball sense. "It's such a waste your son is not into sports, " his PE teacher friend told him. "If he were in my school I will certainly put him into the school team and put his exceptional height to good use!"

He was determined to MAKE his son SPORTY. He tried to bring him along when he goes running or play soccer. But that happens only like one in a blue moon.

He remains hopeful and hit jackpot when his son was posted to the Recreational Floorball Team in school. Whether he liked it or not, his son had to at least go for Floorball training every week:)


And then, one fine day... the man's friend, the same PE Teacher, asked if he would like to play tennis together. Little did he know that that was going to be THE turning point where his dreams and aspirations is starting to slowly come true...

But this did not come without challenges. As the man accepted the invitation, he was now perplexed with a new problem-- Just where is his tennis racket?

He tried to search for a long time and only found... THIS.

His brother decided to offer some assistance and found him his racket.. and the rest they say... is history...

He brought his son along to the tennis session and his inactive son said he actually enjoyed it and will like to play tennis.

The man who thought his dreams were not meant to be is now happily searching for group tennis lessons that his son can enjoy so that they can put the tennis courts in their condo to good use:)

And then, they lived happily ever after.

Beun Momento Charity Run

 Max signed the whole family up for a charity run... I do not know much details except that I needed a pair of new running shoes:) OK i take back my words... a pair of new WALKING shoes:) hahahaha

We arrived a little earlier and there was some little carnival there...

 Ace's favorite game is this one where you use a rubberband gun to shoot at some cans... (which resulted in his rubberband gun frenzy afterwards....)

 Funny thing is.. when he used one hand.. he only shot down 3 cans. When he one hand one gun and shot like those heroes you see in the movie, he shot down 6 of them! Wahahahahahaha!

 Another one he likes and spent most his tickets playing is this shoot the duck thingy but it is a little more difficult to hit the ducks:)

 We took part in a lucky draw and won ourselves.. some MAMEE, some biscuits... and a roll of scotch tape.. which got Ace all so excited!

 Ace tried his luck at this roll the ping pong ball game. I think it is quite difficult but nevertheless fun:)

 He decided to do the gun game again and he says he is going to win a bag of cosmetics FOR ME:) THank you, Ace!

 He tried the lucky egg thingy but did not manage to get anything other than lots of raisins:) hahahaha

 We are all ready for the run!

One round around Bishan Park where this event is held is 2.7 kilometers. Each round we run/walk, we will be able to raise an extra $1. Our plan is for Ace to follow Max and run together while I walk slowly. I told Ace once he is done he can go back to carnival to wait for me.

 Not bad lah... Ace only ran one round but I only spent 200 metres running and walked the rest of the way!:)

 Max ran 3 rounds in total..

 I walked!!!! There was this group of young boys and girls in front of me who chatted as they walked:) Lao aunty me try to walk a little faster... so dun need to leave Ace alone too much.

 I paced myself along side a few people... when I started, I was pacing mysef against this aunty who was walking as well.. then as I overtook her, I paced myself against this lady in orange headgear... And I even paced myself to match the pace of this family.. dad and mum with a toddler and a 5 year old who are running/walking with stroller!

 Even saw some amazing young people jogging and juggling at the same time. How do they do that? I can't even RUN!

 After one round, I thought since I am walking.. just walk one more round and raise another dollar more lah. So I walked a second round. We started at 4pm and after almost an hour, I managed to walk two rounds and cover 5.4km. Ok lah, give myself a pat on the back. Even Max as impressed that I walked two rounds. I couldnt do round three though cos by then quite shagged liao.

 Ace feeling unwell after he drank this energy drink that was so sweet it tasted like shit.. and burnt his throat...

 That is him doing the "I finished the run but I am so sad my throat is burning now.."

 He did feel better after drinking some water lah..

 When we went home, he took out the scotch tape and told me this is the favorite prize that he won! Alamak.. I told my friend and she said she going to buy Ace rows of scotch tapes or masking tapes for birthday:) Hahahaha...

The run is run by the Cultural Club in NTU. I must say that the students from NTU are very good at canvassing.. at the end of the run, we received a whole table full of funny funny things in the goody bags and as prizes for lucky draw and stuff.... there is skin care, tissue, scotch tape, biscuits, snacks, sweets, soy milk, bottled mushroom, sausages, pens, notesbooks, women and children's magazines.. etc etc etc..

Ace says he wants to join again next year:)
