Support My Dad

Ace was rather intrigued when I showed a stop animation youtube video done by this 6 year old kid based on one of Ace's favourite videos called Dumb Ways To Die...

He was intrigued by stop animation because of that and kept bugging me to download the software cos he said he wanted to do it too.

So I suggested that he make one to support his daddy in that case. And so, me and Ace got together and made the above stop animation movie together:) (PS: It took us a few days to make this.. the sian sian voice part is cos Ace was sick.. but we still wanted to complete it..)

In case you want a run down of the video.. here is wat it is about lah...

Max and some of his colleagues are going to take part in this thing called the 3 Peaks Challenge. It is a challenge where you had to climb 3 mountains in 24 hours.. so it is no mean feat.. and Max has been training hard because i think it is going to be quite cold and will require lots of stamina.

And they are doing that to raise funds for Sailors' Society

Sailors' Society is a society that provides welfare for down and out or less fortunate seafarers and their families.

The funds they raise actually go into providing communication between seafarers and their families, provide funerals and coffins if sailors die out at sea far away from home, provide funds so they can visit sailors who are in jail or in hospital due to injuries or sickness..

And being an ex-navy wife. I really appreciate what these people are doing for seafarers. I mean, Max used to be from the Navy.. it is tie fan wan (iron rice bowl).. and he is well taken care of by all the schemes they have in place to protect them.. and Max rarely sailed longer than 2 weeks... and even so, I worry much for Max whenever he is away. I can only imagine how much worse it must be for the wives and children who have to endure their father or husbands being away for a few months each year.

Living overseas also made me understand how sometimes one can be really helpless when you are in a foreign land and not much resources to garner help when it is needed. So I really think the guys at Sailors' Society are doing excellent work.

Anyway, using the funds they have raised, here are some of the things they have done..

  1. Help 376,200 seafarers worldwide
  2. Transport 21,600 seafarers
  3. Visit 233 seafarers in hospital
  4. Visit 305 retired or injured seafarers at home
  5. Make 569 welfare grants
  6. Distribute 8,187 international news sheets
So if you feel moved to help, do help to donate to this worthy cause at https://www.justgiving.com/Team-ISS-2014.

If you decide not to donate, that is no problem at all. Please send your blessings to his team that they complete the challenge safe and sound.

On behalf of the seafarers and the sailors's society, thank you for your donations!:) And on behalf of Max and his colleagues, thank you for your blessings!:)

If you will like more info, you can email Max at maxchaush@hotmail.com

PS: Anyway, pardon our rather badly made stop animation. It is really more of an experiment for us as we dun really know how to use the app fully yet.
