Nezha Looks Like Me?

I was outside the other day and when I returned home, Ace told me that Nezha in that Channel 8 show looks like me when dressed up as a woman.

I was like.. HUH?

So the next day, I sat down in front of the TV with my phone.. and waited for Nezha to appear so that I can take a picture...

Look like me meh?

My mum insists look like me very much.. and says must be look like me becos even Ace also says so.. hahahaha...

This made me wonder... if that is the case hor, then since Ace looks like me... does it mean that when my son grows up, he will look like this actor?

So I decided to go find some "normal" pics of this actor..

Hahahaa...  will Ace look like this when he grows up?

Actually, many times when I walk on the streets and see young men, I will wonder.. when my son grows up and becomes this age, how will he look like? What sort of hairstyle will he like? How will he dress? Will he be like his dad? Will he have his own style?

What do you think?

Mum's Cooking Is The Best

Before we got our rental place, we were staying in Popo's house.

Staying there is heavenly! There was no need to clean, no need to wash clothes and someone to prepare food for us everyday.

But leh, every kitchen will only have ONE master or mistress.. so while we were there, we will not be able to cook our own food.

Then one day, Gong Gong said he will he going out and will not be able to cook lunch for us. I told him it is ok. I will cook lunch for Ace then..

And so, Ace was really happy that he also got to help make lunch as it is something he hasn't done in quite a while..

After looking at the available ingredients, we decided that we will make OMU rice:) hee...

And Ace says it is VERY GOOD!:) Hee hee...

He says he misses my cooking since me and gonggong's cooking quite different style..

Oh well, have to count down to when we get our kitchen lor :)

Who Does Ace Look LIke More?

The other day, Shushu was packing the house and found some photos of Max when he was much younger.. and so, he took a photo and whatsapped us.. hahhaha

And then I put it together with Ace's photo to show how alike father and son are.. :) Check out that same smile.. wahahahahaha...

But someone mentioned that Max also looked a little like the MAD Magazine character as well...

Anyway, we showed Yeye the photo and he said, "But I think Ace is more handsome lah.."

And that is but of course!:) Because Ace has an added extra...that extra is "ME!" Wahahahaha...

And then we started to have a debate of.. who does Ace look like more?

Max says Ace looks like me.. and said maybe I can put the same hairstyle on all the photos and do a comparison..

So now... who does Ace look like more?:P Wahahahaha

Furniture Shopping!

Since we decided on where to stay.. it was time to do a little furniture shopping so we spent the weekend shopping:)

Brought Ace along so that he can have a say ;) haha

First stop we went to was this shop at Tan Boon LIat Building... we saw their online catalogue and as both me and Max are very woody people.. we love all the wooden furniture they have... so decided to go there to take a look.. only to find that there are quite a few furniture shops there...

Alas, their stuff all dam ex siah...

Ace was very intrigued by this pair of XXL size chopsticks and asked me to take a pic

That is Max posing with his favourite piece.. a dining table cum bar top counter. Alas, this whole set costs something like 5K. Way beyond our budget...

They had a kids corner where children can doodle and Ace took the chance to draw..

Went to a few other furniture shops..

So nice this piece is sort of retro...

And then we decided that we will head to IKEA...

Only to find a similar piece there. The one we saw in TBL was 2000 sing.. the IKEA one also almost 900 bucks...

Well, KIV only lah.. so ex...

Ace trying out this bed..

Ace saying that he WANTS this chair... hahaha.. in the end we din buy cos he din need it at all

Thought this is interesting idea.. and that we can do the same. Alas,  Ace's room was too small to do that..

After IKEA, we went for dinner.. Ace was super hungry and we couldmt really find any good place to eat and settled for Ma Masons....

THey have got a promo.. dads get a beer... mums get ice cream...

Ace gets a game:)

But the food so so onli leh..

But we had fun playing the game lah :)

The next day, we went to this place called comfort furniture cos i did my sums and find all the furniture we have seen so far too ex and I saw that they were having some sort of promo...

Ace loved this horse there and kept asking me to buy for him.. hahaha.. but no place to put lor!:)

Max says the rocking chair very comfy.. and I agree! We bought one in the end:) haha

Saw this and it reminded me of a friend who loves vodka...

We love benches.. alas, in the end no space..

We did find a cheap and nice dining table there and went home happy after we made our orders..

And I guess all that is left to do is unpack and purchasing the little nick nacks..

Ace Forgot To Bring Wallet

Our good friend forgot to bring his wallet today.

Everyone so worried that he dun have money.. how to eat lah.. will he be hungry lah.. (When I say everyone, I mean gong gong, zeng popo they all.. haha)

But leh, when he came home, our good friend said he had money to eat wor.

Apparently, he told his friends he forgot to bring his wallet and his friends said, "Why don't you borrow from the teacher.."

And so, our good friend borrowed $4 from the teacher!

That is not the best part... best part is.. he SPENT $3.50!

I asked him if he thought about how he is going to return all this money to his teacher.

Then he came back and count count count his money.. and realized he only had $2 left in his wallet!

So leh, it was time for naggy mummy to jiang dao li to Ace again.

Firstly, I told him because he has shown he has yet to understand budgeting and the importance of sticking to your budget, I will have to take away all the spare cash he has in terms of all the red packets he has recieved for his birthday.

Then I asked him where the $3.50 went to and found out he bought TWO BOTTLE of aloe vera water to drink. He bought the first one because he was curious and never tried it before and he bought the second one because he liked it very much.

So I explained to him also that money cannot be squandered because that is considered disrespect to money.

"Yeah lah yeah lah.. i know i know.." he said, "If you waste money, money will waste you.." Wahahahahhaha... actually I think the quote I used was "If you waste time, time will waste you.."

So I explained to him that to decide if you are wasting money, you must understand whether what you are spending on is an investment or not and whether there is value in what you recieve when you use this money.

For example, if you buy something to eat and it is to feel a need like you are hungry, that means there is value to it. Or if you use the money to buy a book that will learn something from it, then it is an investment because you can develop your brain.

So how do we decide if something is a waste? Well, if we spend the money and there is no value to it, then it is a waste lor.

And why is buying sugared soft drinks a waste?

  1. He already has a bottle of water, so the money is not spent to fulfill a NEED.
  2. He read a book about the human body and found out that alchohol is POISON to the liver and kept asking me to read to his dad and ask his dad to stop drinking. BUT, sugared drinks is POISON to your immune system and also our kidneys. So essentially he is paying money to harm is body.. so is that value?
Soft pattern finish.. his dad came up with a hard pattern and told him we will monitor his spending habits next week. If he is still going to drink sugared drinks everyday, we will still give him $10 pocket money but we will make it compulsory savings for him and he will pack lunch and bring water bottle to school everyday and not have excess to buy things he like or indulge in occasional treat.

So will Ace learn his lesson? Watch this space for updates.. :) hahaha..

PS: I whatsapp his teacher next time just lend him $2. Hahaha...

Ace Bear Also Wants To Wear Clothes

Long time ago,we bought a bear for Ace's cousin, C, and bought another one for Ace. Happens so, Ace chose the same bear, so they now have two same bears....

Ace wanted us to buy clothes for his bear but I told him the clothes are not so nice and we buy when we see nice ones...

We put an old singlet on his bear and so when he brought his bear over to Popo house and C saw it, he said he also wanted his bear to wear clothes.. so Popo took a newborn clothes belonging to C and put it on the bear...

Ace see liao leh, he say his bear ALSO want...

And after searching around for a long while, we finally found one that can also fit his bear:)

So me and Ah Yee decided we should let them take picture together with their bears..

But din expect.. so difficult to take ONE good picture of the two boys lor...

Took so many tries lor:) hahaha..

So do the cousins look alike?

Ace's First Flag Day

Our Lions club was having a flag day... helping the Lions Befrienders raise money and since Max was back in Sgp, he decided to bring Ace along to volunteer.

I did not go with them because I was at a workshop and when Ace returned home ,he told me he was initially shy and afraid to approach people.

But he soon found out that as he is a child, all he needs to do is just to stand there and hold out the tin and people will automatically donate to his tin:) Hahahaha...

When he said he was tired and passed his tin to Max, Max stood there but the percentage of people who donated dropped greatly:) wahahahaha..

Anyway, I am just glad that he the experience of doing a flag day.

Best In The World Of 40

The other day, Ace came home and gave me and Max a pleasant surprise when he declared that he was TOP IN CLASS for his English test.

Considering that in Dubai, his scored lowest in English... and considering that he did not study or practice much for his test, we were really happy.

Apparently, the test was upon 50 and he scored 44.5. The lowest score in class for that test was 19 and he was pleasantly surprised when his teacher announced that he scored the highest in class too.

When he talked to Max about it.. he was quite haolian lah... hahahaha.. The bad thing about him scoring the highest score was he very yaya papaya lor.. just like the rabbit in the race with the turtle.. wahahaha :)

He asked if we could reward him with money because he said his classmates get $100 everytime they scored more than 70 points in their class test. I told him he can forget it. If he wants that, he has to change parents!:) wahahahaha

I am happy to reward him for something well done. BUT scoring well in his exams is something HE SHOULD DO.. it is his responsibility as a primary school student and a son... not something he should do because he wants to earn more money or because he is going to get rewarded.

But when he do well, I might feel like I want to encourage and reward him and buy him something he likes. That is the way our family will work:) haha..

Interestingly, while he was all boastful to us when he came home, when he went to Yeye's house that night, he was shy to tell Yeye of his achievements. We suspect mostly... it is because HE KNOWS that if he were to tell Yeye, Yeye will reward him with a red packet.. which he really did!:) wahahaha...

Because he was so proud, his dad teased him and told him that he is the BEST IN THE WORLD.. BEST IN THE WORLD OF 40.. cos he only comparing to 40 pax in his class... hahaha.. But of course, we understand he needs to be encouraged.. and so we told him that if he were to score 90 and above in various tests and exams or to score best in class.. every time he did that he gets a star. When he gets 5 stars, his dad will give him permission to buy the Gshock Navy watch that he wanted to buy..

Anyway, haolian people need to learn their lesson.

Few days after Ace became THE BEST IN THE WORLD OF 40, he came home with a test paper he did not dare to ask me to sign till boy pian got to go to bed liao...

He scored 26/50 for the Digestive System topic and when I asked him why he only scored 26 because I dun think that is his best result he can achieve, he told me lowest point is 3 and most of his classmates scored 22+.. so he feels he is average! Faintz!

I told him we need to spend more time to go through with this so that he can get better at it, and then he whine and whine and whine at the thought of doing extra work...

I had to explain to him that wherever you spend your time, you will get result in that area. If he chooses to spend his time using ipad or loom banding... he will become expert at that.. and so he has to choose if he wants to stay a science expert or become ipad or loom band expert.

He says he wants to be expert in all areas and so in that case, I told him he has to work faster so that he can do more wiht less time.

Had to remind him of the story I heard about the Nobel Prize winner.. who came up with some equation in math. Apparently, when he was younger, he was not so good in math. But he worked hard at it and always encouraged himself to study till late in the night.. when the last student in the hostel switched off their lights, he will push himself to study another 5 minutes more and it is this accumulation of 5 minutes everyday that made him so good in math till he could come up with the equation and win a nobel prize for it:)

Seemed like he take to heart what I explained to him cos he showed much better attitude the next day.

But leh, I am still disturbed that he is easily frustrated and talks rudely all the time. Especially if he sees his cousin get attention from crying and screaming, he will try to do the same. I keep explaining to him that all I ask him to do is for his own good.. and that I am always on his side.. cos I am his mother. I am not his enemy...  This TWEEN age is really challenging man!

PS: I tried to read through the science textbook and the part about digestive system with him. He says it is SO BORING! So I found this book about the human body that I bought when I was still helping people do IRIS SCAN  and there is  detailed explanation of the digestive system... interestingly, he says MY BOOK IS VERY INTERESTING! Hahahaha...  So he read and insists that his dad should read as well because the book says ALCHOHOL IS POISON TO THE LIVER!:) wahaha

Boys Play Loom Bands Meh?

When we were in Dubai, I saw many of my friends posting about this new trend called Rainbow Loom becuase they all had children and it was apparently popular in Singapore. Since it was a craft, I thought Ace might like it and asked if Ace wanted it.

But Ace told me in his school, only the girls will play with rainbow loom.. so he rejected my offer.

But leh, when we came back to Singapore, he was given some bands in school and then, he started to go crazy over it and bugged me to buy it for him.

I told him though that since many of his godmas want to buy him birthday presents, he can perhaps ask them to buy for him.

So finally, Karen Godma got him a small set for a present (as he wanted to choose another toy as present as well) and Ace started his loom band journey.

He already learnt how to do the basic one from his friends in school and with the set, he was able to do different things as well and he started out making this necklace:)

Initially, Ace was a little upset cos it seems like no matter how he tried, he is unable to make that "Pendant" portion... I encouraged him by reminding him that even I took 3 tries before I was successful as the instructions in the booklet was kind of difficult to follow...

That is why he is smiling so happily when he finally mastered it:)

Then he saw a youtube tutorial that taught him how to make a snack and he made many many snakes!:)

And many many bracelets of the same type in dfferent colours. As he made more, he realized he can do different looks ...

Once he mastered that, he tried another type of design..

The one he made and named it THE FOUR ELEMENTS.. wahahaha :)

He decided to make one of his snakes into a bracelet:)

He made this for me as a present.. Cos he says I like pink.. but in reality, because he doesnt like pink and has alot of pinks in his loom band set:) hahahaha

He even made me a ring!:)

And another bracelet...

This one is nice hor.. but he made for himself..

He also made for Ah Yee and tried to SELL to Ah Yee...  Ah Yee said she will pay in kind and paid in the form of Loom Bands she bought online:)

We also went through lots of trouble to buy him boxes to store his stuff. So glad to finally find a box tat can fit everything in...

Some time back, he said he wanted to buy the monster loom to create different designs... and so he saved money and went to buy the loom...

And he made this handphone accessory for me..

Whenever I wear the loombands that Ace makes for me.. people will ask me who made them and if I say, "My son..." They will usually go, "Boys play loombands meh?"

Hahaha.. and usually they are people who do not yet have children or are unmarried. So just to answer your question... BOYS DO play loombands. Ace has quite a few loomband experts in his class and they are boys and they make much more than bracelets using the loombands:)

Anyway, I am happy he found something new to keep himself occupied lah;)
