Waste Money

 Ace has been wasting money again...

Firstly, he has been buying those turn one egg for one dollar thingy to get lots of USELESS toys... when I say lots, I mean like I see a new egg at least every day!

Then, he has been wasting money playing arcade games when he goes tuition... And he proudly showed me the toys he won... sigh..

His dad says if he is going to waste more money, he is going to deduct is pocket money liao.

So Ace promised to stop... and he did... only for two mths...before he forgot all about it and started buying RUBBISH...

Current trend is those sticky spiderman... ugh!

Tampopo Finally

 Brought Ace to Kino to buy things and he said he wanted to eat Jap food..

So I finally got to visit...


 And it is great.. cos i got to try their black pork ramen.. very yummy!:)

 On our way home, even saw the helicopter fly past for NDP. Time flies, it has been about a year since we went to watch the NDP preview!

Same flag... but different feel..

 So I saw this really cute minion container for cereal online...

And then I was thinking Ace sure wants one.. so I told him about it..

In the end, we went to three different supermarkets also cannot find cos sold out lor!

A friend who had friends working in nestle told me that can find in the huge GIANT in tampines next to IKEA.. so I messaged Max and the best dad in the world really made his way there to find. Alas, when he was there, he said only one box left! Want to buy one more for Cay also cannot :(

And also, it was weekend and the crowd was crazy.. and he had to queue for long time to pay for ONE ITEM.... knowing Max, he would have just decided not to buy the item and leave.. but he didnt.. for his son's sake..

THis is the happy boy and his minion container.. I think maybe the cornflakes will taste better in this container:) hahahaha

Gong De Xin

Went to Ace's tuition centre to pay his fees and met his teacher. His teacher said he wasn't very focused and they were trying to memorize phrases for oral and while everyone managed to memorize everything, he was the only one who did not do it.

She said to bring home and memorize it.

I asked Ace why he couldn't pay attention and why others could memorize and he couldnt.

He said the others could memorize because they were looking at the paper. I told him I can accept that but his teacher also said he was looking around and that meant that he was not really paying attention as well.

He said had a long day and he has been working hard at school....

"So hor in the morning, I am "Let's do this and learn everything!" And then after 2pm... I become like.. "Ok erm... I try..." And after 4pm, I am like " hee hee hee hee hee..." and after 6pm I am like "hor hor hor hor"" Ace was trying to explain how he become more and more "crazy" as the day went on. But I get the point. It is a long day and he is tired.

So leh, we worked on going through the phrases over the weekend.

His teacher did say that he did not need to say exactly as the phrase is. As long as the gist of it is there is ok liao.

So leh, after he memorized, I had to test him. This week they had to memorize phrases used for various topics: Hurting small animals, saving water, cutting queue, littering etc.

And I realized that my son only has ONE standard phrase to all topics.

伤害小动物：伤害小动物是一件很没有公德心的事。
节省用水： 浪费水是很没有公德心的事。
插队：插队是一件很没有公德心的事。
乱堆垃圾：  乱堆垃圾是一件很没有公德心的事。

After he tries to repeat the phrases he memorized, I realized he is having problem also because he is not familiar with the phrases used. For example... the chinese phrase for Roadsweeper 清道夫, he keeps saying funny things like "清洁地上的人” or what.

His dad says why not just say "扫地的人" I say can lah. But then wun get as many marks lor. where got father like tat teach son one right? LOL

Hope he can memorize them well and do well for oral. Jia you, Ace!

PS: He did not get to use these FAMOUS WORDS during his PSLE Oral... LOL... BUT it was a topic that his tuition teacher had gone through with him... so phew!

Good Boy Apple Juice

Ace brought home a canned drink the other day.

It was a Fuji Sparkling Apple Juice. I asked him about it and he said he was given to him by his Chinese teacher.

Apparently, at the end of every day, they get a lucky draw. If you are naughty, your name goes on blackboard. So if lucky draw is you... and your name is on the board, you miss your turn and next person is drawn. Everyday there are a few prizes to be won and best biggest price is ice lemon tea and this is next best prize.

Ace calls this his GOOD BOY APPLE JUICE! LOL... hahahaha

 Like tat also can!

Kudos to his teacher for being creative and really grateful she is taking so much effort to help the boys concentrate in class!

PS: My son says he has 10 of these sitting in his locker now cos when he is thirsty, he will go drink instead of spending money on drinks.He says he will bring home to have Good Boy Apple Juice Party with me.. lol

Injured Hand

So there was this huge bump that appeared on my hand.. it was a raised bump that was red, angry, and painful.

LIke a pimple that had no place for the pus to come out type... So my son tried to show concern.. he says I have to wrap it up in ice pack so that the swelling will go down and made me do this.

 I must say it is not too bad. Kind of helped... Hahahaha.. swelling went down a little after that.

He was quite smug that he is so clever and came up with this good idea to help me... hahahaha..

 There is a nasi lemak burger by Mac D... and when Ace found out there is egg in it.. he bugged me to bring him to eat.

So I did.

He loved it!

But i told him it is cheaper if I buy and make for him myself... LOL... Just need to buy nasi lemak chilli and cucumber mah:)

He also loves the bundung Mc Fizz..

Too bad after we ate it twice, it was out of stock liao.. hahahaha..

Mummy Goes Back To Work

Me on my first day of work:)

Some time back, I told Ace that I will be going back to work soon. I explained to him that I have dedicated my life to our family and as a result, I neglected building my own life and that is not healthy. Because if I did not have my own life, by the time he is married, I would rely on him still to take care of me and he probably wouldn't like that as compared to we each have our own happy lives:)

He was initially not very happy about it.

Then he started asking if I could only go to work AFTER he finished his PSLE and I told him I will try to do that.

However, life doesnt really happen the way we plan usually :)

Certain priorities in my life changed quickly and then I realized that I needed to get back to work as quickly as possible. And as I was praying for a job, I had a good feeling a good job was coming my way. Within two weeks of starting to find a job, I got it!

It was almost perfect. It is an MNC, in the east and not too far away from home, allows me to knock off at 5.30 on the dot on most days and when I got started, I realized I had awesome colleagues and an awesome understanding boss.

When I told Ace, he was really upset. HE was rude to me the next two days after I told him I got the job and starting in a few days time. He said he did not understand why I had to work since his dad can provide for me and take care of me mah. I told him even if that is the case, woman cannot ask their husbands to take care of them forever mah. Sometimes, a woman loses their attractiveness this way when they are in situation where they need someone to take care of them.

I told him my working is part of my working on myself and making a better life for myself so he can have a better life too. And he will be able to enjoy more freedom and independence too.

First day of my work, I bought a surprise snack for him. I think he realizes that now that his mum has a source of income, she can buy him more good food and go nice places more right? ;) Hahahaha...

He did eventually get round to it. Surprisingly, he became more independent. He helped to wash the dishes, he could remember his own schedule about what time to go where, he became more responsible and also started to show better attitude in school.

My cute colleague added sticker to my name plate.. cute or not:)

PS: Now that I have already started working for some weeks, things are settling down into a routine. Ace requests for me to still walk him to school and I oblige because that is our alone time together. But I told him because I rush to work, I can only walk him half the way like I usually do.

I know he appreciates and really treasures these time together. Last week, because my big boss from US was visiting, I was unable to walk him for a few days as I needed to get to work super early. Friday, when I was walking him, he held on to my hand very tightly and kept smiling.

Yeye's birthday was round the corner and since everyone is in town, we quickly celebrated with a durian party:)

Even went for a car wash after sending them home.. Ace was so excited because he says he hasnt been in a car wash since he was 6 and it was one of his many favorite memories;)

But hor we realized nowadays very difficult to find those fully machine type of car wash liao...

Cayden's Antics

Cay is like 5 going to 6 this year.

SOmetimes when I look at his cheeky antics, I really miss Ace at that age lor.. sooooo cute! Haahahahaha... 

THe other day, he started pasting stickers his mum bought him onto his toy cars.. and then as he was pasting, he talked to himself and said, "Come on, car, I am going to dress you up!"

LOL

I told him these stickers make the car look cute. I asked if that was the look he is going for and he said he wanted to dress them up to look cool. I suggested chicken stickers may not be the best option in this case and so he removed them:) hahahahaah

Then leh, later when he was eating, he suddenly went to shut the windows. I asked him why he did tat,, he said cos it was windy.

I said windy is good mah.. means is cooling..

And he told me, "Windy my hair will be messy and cannot be handsome like Zhang Zhenhuan!"

SST GAT and CRT Tests And Yuneng Learning Festival

So Ace had a packed day...

Early in the morning, he had to go to SST for his written test... and after that, he came back and we went to the Yuneng Learning Festival together.

His dad brought him first to eat his fav breakfast... milo and chee cheong fun...

Ace said the GAT test was like an IQ test but it was pretty tough because you were given one minute only for each sum.... and if you got it wrong, they will deduct your marks... so he only did 27 out of the 30 sums... but the CRT test that was like a language test was easy. His dad was quite worried for him cos when he went online to find GAT sample questions, they looked so difficult! (Anyway, Ace passed through this and even went for the one day camp in the end)

So anyway, after his tests, he went to eat lunch with his dad and his dad drove him to school to meet me before heading off to his secondary school gathering..

We were both super excited to go to the Yuneng Learning Festival because Ace was invited to take part in the filming of the welcome video:)

And too bad we could only reach very late when most of the stalls were closing.. because it is a very interesting festival.. the whole school was divided into zones and diff zones provided different learning experiences related to language, math and science, art and craft, PE, etc..

And because the theme was Let Learning Take Flight.... they made the ticket into a boarding pass..

Ace couldn't really decide which place he wanted to go to.. we walked around in circles for a while.. and thank goodness his friends and teachers helped out and so we got to experience some of the learning booths and also got the required chops to exchange for gifts..

Ace wanted to do this but it was too popular..

They even provided maps..

They even had card sorts to help the kids find out what sort of careers they might be interested in!

The language booths were quite empty.. so we visited those first.. but it was also cos Ace's teacher STRONGLY ENCOURAGED him to do so... hahahah

We stood there and watched the video to wait for Ace's "appearance"... hahahah

Just before we were going home, saw these guys flying drones.. Ace wanted to watch.. so we watched a little and went home..

Too bad lah... too little time to enjoy this fully...

But really appreciate the school for putting in all the effort:)
