I Sibeh Regret...

Note to myself: ALWAYS read the instructions and the DESCRIPTION of the toy before I pass it to Ace.

The other day, Max said he wanted to go and visit his godson Ryan... you see, on the day me and max went 'steady' together, one of his very good friends, Lance and Christine, gave birth to a set of twins.

One is called Ryan, the other is called Ross. When we visited the babies with another friend, Wee Tiong, they just each chose one son to be their godson... and Lance and his family have been away for work at Sweden for the past few years.. (and they also have another girl who is one year older than Ace) so we thought it would be nice to visit them and catch up...

Because we havent seen them for so long, Max thought it would be a good idea to buy them some toys.... and so we went to the Metro Sale and see if we could find any good deals there.

But because we brought Ace along, I knew it would be hard to buy alot of toys without buying anything for Ace.. so we told him that if he was a good boy and ate his dinner by himself and he behaved himself, Daddy will buy him a nice toy too.

After picking out the toys for Ryan, Ross and Heidi, Ace started to look around for a toy to buy. I just randomly picked out a gun that looked big and was cheap and asked him to show Daddy.. cos the gun can shoot out bullets (which Max likes to play with Ace)

And then Ace decided that this was what he wanted to buy. No matter what we showed him, he insisted that this was what he wanted.

When I reached home, I really sibeh regret lor!

What I did not realize was that other than shooting out bullets, the gun, if you put batteries in had LIGHT and VERY NOISY SOUND EFFECTS!

And then he started shooting at anything and anyone when we put in the batteries. It was so noisy we banned him from playing in the living room and told him that if he wanted to play this at night, he could only play it in his room.

Finally, it got a little too late to play with something noisy and we asked him to stop. And after we repeated ourselves for the umptheenth time, then did Ace stop playing with the gun... Phew..

The next morning, when I woke up and walked out of my room, I was greeted with a smiling Ace, gun in hand and he started shooting.. "Mummy, now morning, now can play in living room right?" And before I could answer, he started happily shooting away...

Sigh....

Sibeh regret passing the gun to him..

Thank god though, he kind of played with it less frequently after a few days...

Nainai's BD

The other day, we celebrated Nainai's BD by having lunch together...

T0 our surprise, Nainai has never eaten Korean food before! So I am really glad she enjoyed her Korean stewed fish and Yeye was just happy to eat wasabi:) Hahaha...

As for Ace, he quickly gulped down his sushi and ran over to the playground to play...

I wonder if my parents ever had Korean food before. I shoud bring them there one day.. :)

The Most Insane Excuses

Today, I woke at around 8 plus and heard Max asking Ace to wake up. I drifted back to sleep and wondered how come there were no more noises and Ace was out of the house liao.. usually he come to my room to kiss me or to ask me to help him with his tie..

Today, all was just quiet.. So I thought it was probably cos he was very fast today and that Daddy was in a hurry..

I woke.. took out my yoga mat and started my yoga excercises and midway, a sleepy looking Ace walked out of his room. I was so surprised to see him.

"Why are you still at home, Ace?" I asked him.

And then he told me that he doesn't want to go to school. I asked him to sit down on my lap and tell me why and I suddenly noticed that his pants were wet and there was a stench coming out of it...

"Did you pee on your bed?" I asked him.. knowing he must have done that because he had liang cha late at night and a big papaya late at night yesterday at Yeye's house.

"No, it is just water lah.. I liu da han.. that is why it is wet.." he insisted...

So I went to take a look at my phone and I saw a message from Max. "Walk him to school. Tell him it is his punishment for wetting his bed. Everytime he wet his bed, he walks to school."

So I told him what his daddy said and asked him if he did not want to go to school because he has to walk...

"No..." he insisted...

And then he started to come up with a variety of excuses like:

  • School is so boring...

  • Harold Pang made me sad...

  • He dun want to go to school, he wants to talk to Daddy

And the best one is this (this one he came up with after thinking intently for 30 seconds): THE NEIGHBOUR BABY IS NOT HERE.

Just what has that got to do with whether he wants to go to school OR NOT?!

I got inspired by The Blindside and did what Sandra Bullock did. I looked at Ace in the eye and asked him to tell me the truth... "Why don't you want to go to school?"

Finally, he admitted it was because he did not want to walk. I told him then that if that is what he want, he will not go to school and on top of that, he will not be able to go to Bali with us when we travel there... and so he decided to go to school in the end.

I smsed his dad and told him what his son told me and his dad said that he will not be allowed to eat ice cream or sushi until he can show that he wun pee in the bed for one week.

Surprisingly when I told Ace that, he took it like a man and just said, "OK..." silently.

Hai.. kids..

Replacement Is The Key

When we came back from Penang with two big bears, we knew Ace would definitely ask us why he didn't have a bear...

So, we told him that Daddy will share his bear with him and so Ace took over Max's brown bear.

Now, I think I mentioned before that Ace has this carebear that he loves to death... he cannot sleep if carebear is not around and he would whine and walk around the whole house to search for it no matter how tired he is and refuse to sleep if he cannot find his carebear.. it is like his comfort pillow....

Now that he has his BIG BIG bear from Uncle Arthur, when we asked him if we could give his carebear away, he said, "Yes!"

Hahaha... so the trick to taking away what you dun want your kids to hold on to.. is replacement..

I was just talking to Max about our friend's one year old who has with a very strong mind of his own. Max was just saying how tough it must be for my friend who is a working mum as he felt tired just taking care of the toddler for 5 mins. I told Max that when I think back, that was probably one of the toughest times in motherhood for me too as one year olds do not understand logic and liked to test limits.... "Now that Ace can understand logic, we can persuade him, we can promote other things, we can appeal to his sense of fun, his desire for other things... but back then, at age one.. parents only had ONE strategy-- REPLACEMENT...

So guys, remember.. REPLACEMENT IS THE KEY! And this strategy never fails and is useful for ALL AGES! hahahahahaha...

Concert At Botanic Gardens

My friend, Stanley, invited us to Botanic Gardens to hear him sing... he has this accapella group called Agapella.. and they were performing in Botanic Gardens over the weekend...

When I told Ace we were going, he was really excited. Alas, it kept raining and so we told Ace to go and chant to gohonzon for the rain to stop.. And then Ace held my hand and asked me if I can chant together with him... and his chanting was so earnest even Laoma decided to chant together.. Alas, after laoma started chanting for a while, Ace decided to stop as the sky started turning bright again...

It was a pleasant experience and there was this group of really cute santerinas who went to the concert as well...

Ace was also fascinated by the many xmas trees we saw along the way and he was happiest when we reached the concert location cos the stage is surrounded by a pond and Ace saw many tortoises swimming around.. he would point them out to me and they would duck under water when I looked at them...

So I asked him why the tortoises keep swimming away, "I think mama, it is because the tortoise like me but he dun like you..."

Hahahahahahaha.. win already lor!

Singing In The Rain. I Mean Loo...

There are alot of people who like to sing in the rain.. or some even like to sing in their bath...

Some like to sing here and there.. but my son.. likes to SING IN THE LOO when he is pooping and it is extremely smelly! I really cannot imagine how he can still breathe and open his mouth to sing loudly!

Also dunno what he is thinking.. but it shows that he is happy to poop lah.. so I guess that's better than him refusing to poop:)

Magic Show

Thanks to Eddie Gor Gor ahis contacts, magicians, Lawrence and Priscilla, we brought Ace and a bunch of old folks from Lions Befrienders to watch a magic show!

A week before, we started reminding Ace we are bringing him to the magic show so watever we wanted Ace to do, we would actually remind him tat if he does it, he will get to watch the magic show...

It was quite fantastic and some magicians from The Magic Circle actually performed as well. It was really quite funny and my favourite is this magician from New Zealand who performed as Charlie Chaplin.. had us all in stitches! When I asked Max and Ace afterward, I realized tat that was their favourite performance as well.
Sorry I couldnt attach any photos of the show cos photography inside is not allowed.

Ace's Swimming Class

Ace has already been swimming for close to three months already.... I am happy to say he has been enjoying himself and has learnt to do the 'star' (floating on water) and has also been going under water due to his daddy's training.

Now after swimming, Max will ask Ace to hold his breadth and go under water and wave to his daddy.. if he does it like 5 times, we will bring him to eat sushi after tat;)

I wonder though, how long more will it be before he can take a bronze test...:)

Standchart Marathon

Ace's daddy took part in the standchart marathon and so just to support Max, we decided to go there and wait for Max to end and then go breakfast with all his buddies..

Alas, while Ace was happily driving around in the children's zone, I received a call saying that Max finished the run but is not feeling well....

So I told Ace we have to leave.. BUT the little boy still wants to play somemore before going to find his daddy.

By the time he is done, his daddy is already at the medical area... so we went there to look for Max.. apparently, he blacked out due to dehydration and exhaustion... and Ace was a little scared to go near his daddy with all the tubes hanging out (cos Max was under the drip) and after that, when Max was finally ok, we walked all the way to his car to go home..

Because Ace was such a good boy, we told him that because he walked such a long distance together with us, he is a strong boy so we will reward him with the medal that received for completing the half marathon and he was really happy:)

Buy A SEXY Bag

That's Ace having his hair cut by Master Max:) Look at his cheeky smile...

And he is very cheeky indeed....

The other day, I borrowed a book about changes in the body and it talks about how our body will grow and change so that eventually, we will be able to make babies. And the book talks about people having sexy thoughts sometimes and how that is normal....

For me, I just read the book to Ace.. BUT I do wonder if he understands what sexy means...

Now, I know he thinks of it probably as being beautiful...

The other day, it was somewhat drizzling, so I used my bag to cover his head when we got out of the car.

"Oh dear, my bag is wet already..." I commented to Ace.

"Ya, your bag so lousy now..."Ace agreed.

"I think I should ask Daddy to buy me a new bag.." I told Ace.

"Yes, Mummy, buy a pretty sexy bag..."

I was so shocked that he used the word "sexy".. so I asked him.. how would a sexy bag look like.. what colour would it be and he replied that it will be pink and grey and that it would be big...

And then I told him maybe he can buy it for me instead of daddy.. "No, mummy, I cannot... because I don't have money.. I never 赚钱.. so I have no money. You always go and 赚钱 so you got money. You can buy for yourself...."

Whatever happened to the "I will buy for you when I grow up" phase?

PS: He always tells me he will buy a hello kitty phone for me when he grows up because he knows that I like Hello Kitty... Anyway, I told him that when he grows up, he has to buy daddy a nice transformer car and buy me a nice house... he say, ok, he buy when i am old.. i told him that he should buy for me when I am young so that i can enjoy it more:) hahahaha

I Want To Da Bian

Hai.. this Ace.. always want to da bian at the nost inconvenient timing...

Eg, when we are having a meal, when we are..

Usually, what we do is that we wait a while first... cos soemtimes he really just wants to pass out gas....
If after a while, he still says it is urgent, we either quickly look for a clean toilet OR we just go home...

Hai. this makes me miss his diaper days...

Anyway, the other day, when I brought himt to the toilet, he told me that the toilet is dirty and that he cannot stand close to the toilet bowl because "Papa says toilet is dirty.. cannot stand so near the toilet bowl when it is dirty..."

The funniest part is when in the middle of our lunch, he said he wanted to da bian and so we went to the toilet in the restaurant and he actually said to me, "Wah, mummy, luckily this toilet is so clean..."

And of cos.. one good piece of news to share is that when Ace goes swimming, he can now go to toilet on his own already. WHen I offered to go with him, he said "It's ok mummy. I am a big boy already. I can do on my own..."

And then when Max asked mne if I helped him untie his swimming trunks when I told him about it, I told him I did not. So we wondered how Ace took off his swimming trunks to pee and asked him.

"I like that lor" he said and he flipped open one side of his pants.

Wah very clever leh... and very innovative indeed ;) I am so proud of him..

Cat

I just bought a new jacket for myself... it has this furry thing around the hood and because of this, max told Ace that this jacket is a cat.. so whenever i wear the jacket, they will call me a CAT.

Because of this, Ace loves the jacket and likes to wear it... and he would call himself a cat and happily giggle away..

Few days later, he even wore it with his policeman hat and told me that this is his policeman uniform..
