Some time ago, I started noticing that Ace is starting to ignore our instructions. Not only that, he is also starting to lie for the sake of getting things done his way. But as usual, Mummy and Daddy always finds out in the end.
It started with me entrusting him with my ipad password. I told him that I will tell him my ipad password BUT he has to promise me that he will not use my ipad unless he asks for my permission or unless i give him permission because the ipad belongs to me and it is only polite to ask permission.
So for a few months, he has worked well and I was quite impressed with the restrain that he showed. Then a few weeks ago, I caught him playing my ipad without asking for my permission and so i gave him the usual prep talk about how it is important to keep one's promise and how i will still trust him and give him one more chance.
And then, one day, his dad said to pass him the ipad and let him use to watch this channel called igenius as a reward. We told him we will lend him the ipod for 30 minutes but he has to watch only igenius and nothing else. And he promised. But after about 15 min, when we checked, he was watching The Regular Show!!!
So he got another one of those it is important to keep your promise sort of talk from Max.
About 20 min later, Ace went into the bedroom and locked the door. And he was inside for a reallly long whilie. Whenever he is quiet, it means he is up to something so I walked into the room to take a look and there is our good friend, lying down on bed with his leg crossed and happily watching youtube cartoon videos on the ipad.
I told him that I would only give him 3 chances and since he did not want to make good use of the chance he has, I shall no longer entrust him with my password. I will change my password and he is banned from using my ipad for a month.
It made me really mad because he did it right after we gave him some prep talk about keeping your promise. Not only was he not keeping his promise, he also was lying to us about what he was doing when I asked him, "What are you doing?" when I saw him with the ipad. Ace kept begging me not to take away the ipad previledge and crying and begging and saying, "No....."
I also told him that I am mighty mad and I have to punish him because lying is not right. If a child lies about small things, they will think it is okay to lie about big things and if they lie more, it might lead to crime.. so I have to punish him.. and it is definitely not because i love to see him in pain or being punished.. because i hoped he will learn from this and learn to tell the truth no matter what happens...
And so, two weeks passes... And I would have thought the lesson is still fresh in his mind since I still often have to remind him that he still is being punished whenever he asks if he could play with my ipad.
Then one day, he came home from school with his favourite sushi snack barely eaten. I asked him why his snack is not eaten and with a straight face, he told me that he had finished his work early and so his teacher said he could read and before he realized it, he had read right through playtime.
"But you have two playtimes right? Why didn't you eat at the second playtime?"
"Aiya, second playtime same story lah.." he said.
STORY... I should have caught on the word and realized that he is lying but I didn't. I did feel it is strange but i let it pass...
So at night before we slept, we were doing our night time chat about what happened in school and Ace finally unintentionally let the cat out of the bag by telling me about what game he played with Damien during playtime. When I realized what he said, I asked him nonchalantly, "Are you saying that you played this game during playtime today?" "Yeah,"
And then I asked him, "If you were reading a book right through both playtimes, how can you play with Damien?"
His face changed and immediately looked guilty.
I was quite upset that he lied and with a straight face too but I kept my calm. I did not scold him but asked him, "Is lying right or wrong?" and he answered that it is wrong.. and then I asked him why it is wrong and he answered, "Because if I keep lying, when I grow up I will lie about big things and become a criminal.."
So i asked him if he thought he should be punished.. and by now, he started to cry... "Yes" he said as tears flowed out of his eyes.. "So how do you think you should be punished?" And to my surprise, he chose the thing that was most most painful for him.. "No playtime tomorrow.." and then he sobbed and sobbed as tat was the worst thing in the world that he thinks could ever happen to him.. cos for Ace, his life priorities are simple.. PLAY, PLAY, EAT:) hhahhahhaha..
So I told him that he will have no playtime tomorrow in this case. And then I gave him a hug and explained to him that I am punishing him not because it makes me happy. I am sad too whenever he is denied of something he likes and enjoys and feels sad but I want him to learn from this. Then I repeated that people who lie about small things will also think it is ok to lie about big things and eventually, they may commit crime.. "Is that who you want to become?" I asked him. If the answer is no, I told him that he can learn from his mistake and make a different choice again next time. Also, if he tells the truth, I may scold or nag him a little.. but if he lies, now he gets not one scolding but two scoldings and one punishment.. definitely boh hua to lie...
But maybe because he has started lying.. and so I become very sensitive to everything he is saying. For example, he would say things like, "J said xxx xxx xxxx..." And because it seems strange to me, I will ask him a few other questions to validate his point and then he will say, "Oh I am talking rubbish, i was just joking.. she didn't say that..'
I will let it pass but I explained to him that we have to "say what we mean and mean what we say". When we joke around and say things about other people, it may seem like a joke or we may not mean it but in this case, what he said about J would give people a bad impression of her and if J is his friend, he wouldnt want to discredit her right?"
I know in the adults world, this is really tough as well.. even for me. I have done one exercise once and you had to say everything you truthfully think for a short period of time AND THAT IS NOT EASY AT ALL. For convenience or sometimes because we are afraid of people getting upset or laughing at us, we adults like to tell small white lies... or we OMIT information.. or we make small talk and make up unimportant stuff to talk about... hate to break this to you.. but this is lying as well.. it takes awareness, conscious decisions and COURAGE to say EVERYTHING you think and feel without dressing it up and without omission. Don't believe and try it.. JUST for the next 2 hours...
As all my teachers have said tat children are a reflection of our subconscious mind.. i wonder though which part of me is not "truthful" enough and how I can improve.. so I made a mental commitment to continue to be more aware and courageous and tell the TRUTH... even if it hurts me...
Anyway, back to our story.... Ace did the punishment happily and actually.. he did his homework and played at home... He did not tell his friends he was being punished and merely told them that he cannot play with them. He was punished with no playtime on a thursday...
But the next day when he woke on friday, he complained to me that this is the worse weekend ever (weekend starts here on fri and ends sat). When I asked him why, he said, "Because my mother threatened me with punishment and no play time.." I reminded him that he chose his own punishemnnt and i din do it to make me happy n make him sad.." And I din want to talk to him after that.
After some silent treatment, he seemed to realize he at fault after about 10 minutes later and make and origami white dove for me and said he was sorry he was mean and shouted at me.
I was hoping that was the end of it but alas, on the sunday following... Ace came home with his snack uneaten again. When I asked him why he said they were given super short break time and he had no time to eat...
This time I clever liao.. i asked him he really had not time to eat or did not eat..."Did you have time to play?" And then he know he peechar lobang liao...
This time, I was not so much angry but resigned and upset that he just never learns his lesson. I really don't know what to do...
That day, I let him go out and play after his work because I told him, "I give up, even if I punish you, you don't learn your lesson. I am so disappointed with you...'
And my son hor, was definitely NOT sorry about it at all.. he just happily went out to play.. only to find tat the neighbour doesnt want to play.. (haha.. he deserves it)
When his dad came home, I told his dad about it and this time, his dad gave him a good scolding and he had to stand by the wall and be scolded for a good 15 minutes. His dad threatened a serious punishment like no play time forever or throwing away one of his toys and asked him to choose... "I don't want to choose... I don't want anything bad to happen to me..."
"Too late, " Daddy told him.. "The moment you choose to lie, you are already choosing one of these consequences.. no playtime or throw away toys..."
"But I want to play and I want my toys, I don't want to choose... I don't want.." Ace kept crying and begging...
I think Daddy also heart soften lah.. in the end told him he will be punished with no playtime for two days... and then Ace cried and cried and cried and cried when he went to bath. Cried till like father mother died already like tat...
After he was done bathing, Daddy gave him a hug and told him he will give him special discount.. no playtime for one day only... but if he lies again.. next time will be no play time for 3 days... lie again, no playtime for one week.. lie again.. no playtime for a month... "I will give you my trust again, ok? But please keep it and don't do anything to break it.." Max told Ace.
By bedtime about 30 min later, Ace was all smiiles again. He was even in the mood to play acting game with me. He said he is director and when he says "Action!" I have to be daddy.. my script is, "It is too late, when you choose to lie you already choose no playtime.." and he will be Ace and his script is , "But I don't want to choose, I don't want anything bad to happen to me..boo hoo hoo..." And then he will giggle and yell "Cut!" if got my script wrong. He very happy and kept asking me to repeat the scene lor.. it was as if the previous sadness and crying and scolding is some big joke...
Children.. dun understand them....
But that being said, I think human beings are very fan jian.. only after threats and scare by daddy liao then I think Ace truly learnt his lesson. Few days ago, he came back with snack half eaten again and then I asked him why he did not finish it.. his eyes rolled up and I knew he was deciding to tell the truth or not and I reminded him what happens if he lies and how it is better to get a bit of scolding than to get TWO SCOLDINGS PLUS BIG PUNISHMENT..
So he told the truth that he wanted to play.. it then occured to me that he may also not like to eat what I prepared tat day (pasta dish) and so I asked him... he said yes, part of it was he wanted to play and the other part was that he did not really like this pasta and so I told him that if he did not like this snack, he has to feedback to me so I can try to change it or make something else instead."What about the other two times you didn't eat your snacks?"
"Oh, that time I was really just choosing to lie.." Hahaha..
Well, I am just glad he has decided not to lie anymore:) I checked with a girlfriend who is a mother of two older kids and found out tat around this age, seems that most kids go through a phase of lying because it is more convenient.. and the best thing is, I found that our script to our children about why they shouldn't lie IS ALL THE SAME!:) wahahahahaha.. Indeed, 天下的妈妈都是一样的...

You Don't Need To Vomit Blood Already
I have been putting in effort to complete a little bit of math or chinese work with Ace whenever he comes home from school because I thought it might be a good idea to expose him to the Singaporean curriculum as well.
So usually, we alternate between chinese days and math days. Chinese days, we would do one lesson from the chinese textbook, learn some new words, have some spelling and perhaps if there is time, a little bit of work from the assessment book I bought.
Chinese days are tough because Ace is sort of struggling with hanyu pinyin still. Even though he has had good foundation in kindergarten and is good in phonics, he has trouble remembering how the ending sounds are like especially if the combination is a slightly more complicated one like IANG or IONG... So sometimes, even after I feel I have spent enough time on that sound and that he should already know it well, I will find that he is unable to write it out when tested and I will get really frustrated..
One time, while I was feeling frustrated and he was whiny (which made me even more upset) I told him "Teaching you this makes me feel like vomiting blood... I repeated so many times but you still don't bother to remember!"
But after I felt better, I apologized to him lah.. but this sort of became a standing joke among us. Whenever it is Chinese day, Ace will cheekily tell me, "Oh no, mummy, today you are going to vomit blood!" and giggle..
The other day, I was feeling really tired.. partially lack of sleep, partially cos i was out in the hot sun in the afternoon and partially i was not feeling very well... (the sun in dubai always makes me feel dam tired.. as long as I go out and walk in the sun for more than 20 min, I always come home feeling very shagged) so I was really not looking forward very much to my blood-vomitting Chinese day session with Ace.
But still, it is my commitment to him and so I forced myself to sit there and still go through the work with him. Midway through our session, Ace said he had to go and poop... so i thought I would sit down at the sofa for a while. But within seconds (i think) I just fell asleep! That was how tired I was..
When I woke up, Ace told me, "Mummy, today you don't need to vomit blood already because I already finished all my work.."
I thought he meant that he finished the work we were going through but when I checked, I found out that he actually assigned work to himself and finished all of it. And the best part is, it was almost as if he could read my mind! He really assigned all the work I had wanted to assign him that day (even though I haven't told him or assigned them yet), no more, no less!
I am so impressed!:) What a good little boy:) So as a reward, I let him have a longer playtime that day lor:)
Anyway, that nap felt great lah.. though it was a mere 30 min.. it gave me enough energy to continue on till the night:)

My Indian Cooking Lesson
The other day I was just talking to my neighbour V, who lives opposite the hallway. Every now and then, we will chat in the afternoons... And I was telling her how one day, Max was coming home and she happened to have her door opened and he was saying that her curry smells so good...
So V smiled and said, "Oh, that's so sweet.. tomorrow, come to my house.. i teach you how to make.."
So the next day, she knocked on my door just before she started to make lunch:)
And so, my cooking lesson starts:) wahahaahaha...
She said she already made the the chana and it smells heavenly:)
The way to make Chana is just to grind some garlic, onion and chilli and add curry powder to make a paste.. and then you fry it till it turns brown and there is a fragrance.. then you add in the chickpeas tat you soak the night before and some chopped tomatoes and some water and cook.. and tat's it!:) I am going to try making it soon!:)
Next, she taught me how to make poori.. first you get wheat flour and then you add either water or milk.. little bit by bit and knead till you get a very hard dough.. that is hard and dry..
Then you heat up the oil and you can roll the dough into a long strip and break it into bits and then you flatten it and roll it with a rolling pin. When the oil becomes hot enough (there is smoke coming out of it and also, if you drop a teeny bit of dough, it is supposed to bubble), and once the oil is hot enough, you put the poori in.. and then the underneath side facing the oil will bubbled and it will puff out. Once you see the bubbles lesson, you can turn over. Usually takes only a few seconds.....
Tadah! The poori is done:) Then, V let me try to roll the poori and fry it.. too bad though my poori all out of shape one:)
And she let me bring some home for Ace and Max:)
And of cos must have taste test! YUMMY!
And then, V explained to me that indian food is all the same.. if we add more water to get a softer dough, we can make roti and paratha.. (slightly different from the roti prata we have in singapore)
To make roti, you just have to make a softer dough and then roll it out on a flat top with flour sprinkled on so tat it doesn't stick.... and then you pan fry it in teeny weeny bit of oil...
If you want to make paratha, you roll the same roti dough out flat big and put a little bit of oil and then you fold it in so that there are a few layers... and then you roll it out again and then you can panfry it too... she says if you want to make those with stuffing.. you just rolll out and put stuffing in the middle and carefully fold and then you roll again and then it will be paratha with stuffing...
So that was what I had for lunch:)
I saved some and intended to eat it for dinner with Max.. and I made sushi for Ace.. turned out though, that my son loved the channa and wanted to eat too!:)
When we went supermarket shopping, the two boys kept asking me to buy the ingredients to make the poori and channa.. and I briefly read the receipe for Halwa Poori and I am thinking.. maybe.. just maybe.. next weekend I will try to make Halwa Poori for lunch:) Keep my fingers crossed.. hahahaha

Parent Teacher Meeting
We had our first parent teacher meeting the other day in Ace's school.
We were sort of late so we missed the first bit of the headmistress, Mrs Sinclair's, speech. But I figured it is not very different from last year. From the bits I heard, they said they were committed to training our children to be good citizens of the earth and will be very strict with them and high expectations of them to become caring and responsible citizens of the earth. There is a change of ownership and it seemed that the new owners will be leaving most of the decisions to Mrs Sinclair so nothing much will be changing...
After the headmistress's address, we were asked to go to the individual classes and the teacher will be sharing with us what they have done in the past few weeks.
Unfortunately for Ace, his form teacher, Ms Roberts had to go back to UK urgently because of a personal family matter and she couldnt be back at all in the next few months as she has something very important to settle before coming back to Dubai. (They told us what it was and I do think it is a very valid reason to go back and stay behind.)
But it seems the school din have much luck with finding a replacement since it was so sudden. Initially they got a year two teacher who is supposed to be resting for the last leg of her pregnancy to sit in. After only ONE DAY, she said she found that it was very difficult to commit as she was very tired and couldnt give each and every child her attention.. so by the next day, a new replacement teacher came in. The replacement teacher is Mrs S, who is Ace's 2F classmate's mum and last year when their form teacher went to have a tonsillitis operation, Mrs S took over teaching the class and I remembered that she did a great job:)
Alas, she is only part time so she got another part time job and they got another new part time teacher Mrs SM to take over... and at least till Ms Roberts comes back..
Our session was held with the HOD, Mrs P and once we sat down, I can feel the fire in the air liao lor... the parents all started to question why they keep changing teachers... and then they insist that this is very bad for the child and will slow down the learning.... then they asked why they havent recieved this and that.. why other classes have recieved this and that...
And Max and I just looked at each other incredulously! I felt I was like in Singapore! And then I had a realization that ANG MOH parents are also kiasu!!!! wahahahahahah...
You know, it is not that I did not know or notice all these things but i just thought to be patient as the school is probably settling down too after a change over.. and as for the teacher thingy... it is something that cannot be helped.. too bad we are in this class!:) I suddenly had a "erm.. should I be kan cheong as well?" feeling while I was sitting there...
Usually I chat with Ace about school and check what he has learnt. So far, he seems happy and is still learning.. so I am happy:) whahahahaha..
Then some parents talked about why no reading books were given and I just find it strange... no reading book given you read the books you have at home lor.. hahaha.. Ok, she explained later tat she understands tat the parents have to be responsible too but her child doesnt like to read and unless it is a school book, he wouldnt read any.)
I always thought ang moh parents were very relaxed and so, this was really a huge surprise to me and Max:) My friend says maybe these are Singaporean parents disguised as ang mohs.. wahahahaahahahahahha:) max says maybe we are relaxed cos we continued to give Ace work to do throughout so we dun only rely on the teacher.. so not so kan cheong.. But I think we are the coolest (as in not hot or kan cheong...) parents ever! :) wahahahhaha...
I remembered that my mum had very firm ideas about what to do and what not to do and so when the teacher says buy assessment books, she will ask me to tell my teacher NOT TO BUY because she feels it is unnecessary! I tell you... lao guah lor! They will ding dong a few messages then my mother satisfied with teacher's explanation liao then she will buy. But she does trust the teacher and is very thankful to them too. (I remember even though we were very poor then, she bought a hundred over dollar bag for my P6 form teacher as a thank you present.. in those days, that was hell lot to pay for a bag and not to mention, my mother was only earning less than a thousand dollars in her new teaching job.)
I dun think I am totally relaxed lah. I mean if someone bully my son I will feedback. If there is something I feel should be done but is not done, I will also feedback lah. Generally, as long as my son is happy and I feel tat he is learning, I am happy!:) wahahaha... I dun need Ace to be a math genius or wat.. like my mother's mantra, "All I would like is for you to do your best.."
Anyway, I guess other than complaining also nothing the parents can do lah:) This year there are a few new parents and they are quite friendly lah... Ace's class has from wat i see, one or two indian families, one french, the rest either UK or australia.. one mum brought up a point tat she was unable to help her child with his homework in year 4 cos it was algebra or something.. and asked if there is any help given to tutor the parents.. wahahaha:) so cute!:) I thank my primary school teacher Mrs Lee Hon Eng for drilling me in Math so I think I can handle all the way till primary 6:)
When the lesson ended, we took a walk around the room...
Then i realized why Ace has been drawing many figurines Kieth Haring style... he learnt this style in his art lesson and as usual, when he learns something, he will tend to repeatedly practice it till he gets the hang of it. I think he is trying to recreate THIS (below) picture by Kieth Haring.. But my son very cute lah.. he added karate belts cos he says these people are doing karate.. wahahahaha.. When I asked him though, he said this is called Cartoon Style.. so I guess they havent been told much about Kieth Haring.. I think I will google and let him read later...

They also did portraits.. that is Ace's portrait of his friend Damien...
This is Damien drawing Ace.. hahaha. I wonder why he coloured Ace's ears ORANGE:)
Then leh, it was time to go home.. but Max took a wrong turn.. so we decided to go see cars:) This is taken outside Ford Motors.. such a beautiful day, dun you think?
While Max was looking around in Ford Motors, Ace was just drawn to the Mustang (because I told him it is a sports car).. and wanted to pose with it..
When we went home, he insisted on taking the mustang brochures home too so that he can show his friend.. wahhahaha:)
The end result was we din see any cars we liked that was within our budget:) wahahahahaahah... so will stick to our trusty Forrester for now:)

National Day Celebration In Dubai
A friend in dubai posted some info about a National Day Celebration. I thought since we would be back in dubai by then, maybe we can just attend lah.. it sounds like it will be good fun. Max, however, was not so keen cos he doesnt really enjoy these activities and only goes cos I am going.. besides, he said he attended a previous one in AD and it wasnt all that good...
But since my kakis here in Dubai are also keen to go, we bought tickets and arranged to meet up at the party lor:)
Actually the party was quite thoughtfully thought out:)
Someone sponsored a singapore flag cookie.. which was also very tasty!:)
The tickets say smart casual in red and white and just to get into the festive mood, I even painted my nails red:)
We love Singapore!:)
Wanted to take pic of max and Ace but Ace was just busy checking out what is in the goody bag (which is actually the NDP gift pack with some of the ndp goodies..)
We even sang the national anthem and said the pledge before the party start. Feels a little strange to be doing that we so many fellow Singaporeans in a foreign land.. but nice and warm..
Table decor also sponsored.. nice boh.. orchids with candles:)
They even had a cake cutting ceremony where they invited all the kids to go cut cake and the kids recieved some ice cream vouchers too:) My son happily just run to front of stage to cut cake without us.. My friend was like, "Wah, your son so brave ah.. go by himself.." And he was quite lucky lor. Because they din have enough vouchers but he still did get one:)
As the next day is a school day and Ace's bed time was actually 7.30pm and the party is starting at 7.30pm, we decided that we will leave around 9pm.
BUT.. we met a long lost friend! And so our plans changed immediately!:)
Guess who is the host of the party? It's our friend and Max's soccer buddy, Justin! Wahahaha. so surreal to meet him here in Dubai lor:) The two botaks look like long lost brothers:)
And because of Justin, I tell you, the night is dam funny lor!
First he looked for children between 6-7 and picked Ace to ask him a simple question...
Then he asked Ace wat his ambition was and Ace said in front of all the ambassadors and VIPs tat he wants to be a spy!:) wahahahahahahahahahhahaa:)
Ace very happy with his present.. it is a thumb drive and he says I am not to use it.. cos he will use it to save files.. (yeah, like he got computer and got files to save. Next day he came home we went to show off to his friends liao...)
Then Justin made everyone play games and he cracked so many jokes along the way, I was literally laughing from 9om all the way to 10.30... i never laugh so long and so hard for such a long long time! It is indeed good to see him again.. and I must say, the success of an event is truly in the gem of an MC he is!
Before we went home, we did a WE ARE SINGAPORE singalong session..
Then home sweet home lor... my son fell asleep in the car:) wahahahaha...

Why Your Spelling So Lousy?
We have been back in Dubai for a few weeks and have been somewhat busy with settling down... It was in my mind that we had better start to call our parents when i received this sms...
When Ace came home from school, I showed him the message... he laughed and said, "Why Yeye's spelling so lousy one.. hahahaha.." And because Nai Nai was spelt correctly, Ace declared that Nai Nai has good spelling and Yeye poor spelling.
I told him though that it is likely that Yeye was the one who did the typing since Nai Nai doesnt understand english at all..
Anyway, I took it as a sign that we definitely MUST call Yeye lor.. cos usually if he sms me, it means he misses his grandson very bad...
So that night, we made a call to Yeye..
The first thing that Ace said was, "Why your spelling so lousy one?" and proceeded to be teacher Ace to teach Yeye how to spell the word "Yeye" and "grandson". But yeye wanted to tease him and asked him "Shouldnt Y-E y-E be YEE YEE?" And Ace got upset.. "YOu don't believe me you go and ask mummy.. " and pushed the phone to me.
I explained to Ace that Yeye was just teasing him and Yeye wants to talk to him.. not to me...
Anyway, after a while Yeye said that they are going to Thailand for a tour the next day lor...
The next day, I got another sms again:)
I showed it to Ace and he said, "Yeye's spelling still very bad.." and giggles.. I told him though that he made improvement already. "Ya, I know, he spelt YEYE correctly.."
Hai, must be tough for Yeye and Nai Nai.. after meeting Ace once a week for two months, now they have to bear with not seeing him one stretch all the way till CNY ;) But if it is any comfort, it is only 5 mths more before we will meet again!:)
PS: Popo. if you are reading this.. when are you at home ah? I was trying to wait for you on MSN during weekends but never see you leh...

I Don't Want Sister
I am very glad to report that after a few month of hard work together, Ace has finally learnt enough words and hanyu pinyin to write a full sentence!
Sadly, the first sentence that he wrote was this! For those who cannot read chinese, it says, "I don't want a sister.."
I am not pregnant if that is what you are wondering but we are open to a second kid and so far, Ace has always been bugging me to give him a sibling to play with. When he was younger, he was quite open to having both brothers and sisters. But sometime around the age of 4, he started insisting that he only wanted a younger brother but not a sister. His reasoning was that he wanted to play boy games and girls cannot play boy games.
If i explained to him that girls can play boy games too, he will say he already has a god sister and that is considered a sister...
I explained to Ace that I really have no choice over when I will get pregnant again and also whether it will be a girl or a boy. "The only person who can choose is baby.. baby will choose whether it wants to be girl or boy.. just like you chose to be a boy... just like Ah Yee did not choose for didi in her tummy to be a boy or a girl.. didi decided he wanted to be a boy, so he is a boy lor..."
That night before we slept, I asked him again, "So, Ace, since we cannot choose.. if mummy get pregnant again, and it happens to be a girl, would you still love her?"
"Yeah," he said.
"Then can you promise me not to say or write something like that again?" I asked him. I explained to him that babies too can hear, see and feel things that the mummy does and so they have awareness. Since he will want to love his sister anyway, it means that whatever he has written is not really true.
"How would you feel if you are the baby in the tummy and you hear and read or feel that people outside.. like your closest family say they don't want you.. "
"I will feel very sad..."Ace said..
"Yes, indeed.. so if mei mei hear you say this or sees this note.. even though you do not really mean it, she may misunderstand and feel very sad. Do you want her to feel sad?"
"No," said Ace and he promised me that he wouldn't say that anymore.
A few days later, he came up to me and asked me, "Mummy, can you ask god/gohonzon hor, when he give you baby, can the baby be born 4 years old? I really want someone to play with and I cannot wait for baby to slowly grow into 4 years old..."
I told him if the baby is born 4 years old, he or she will be too big to fit into my tummy!
PS: Today, we were talking about our neighbour's little sister and he was saying that she doesnt like to share and is always up to mischief. I told him that this is a stage that children go through. When his god sister and his cousin grows to that age, they might be disagreeable and mischievous too. "So what are you going to do as a big brother?" I asked him.
"I will hug them tight and tell them that what they are doing is not right.. don't do this anymore because I don't want you to become a bad person.. "
Wahahahaha...

Blu Tack Sperm
What sort of boy makes a sperm out of blu tack?
My guess is one that is well educated in the science of birds and bees:) wahahahaha.. (and I am mighty pleased about that cos tat falls into my department when it comes to education)
Since last week, Ace found this lump of blue tack from dunno where.. and he has been playing with it like a plasticine... he has been making tonnes of things, rolling it, shaping it and having lots of fun with it. Whenever he is quiet by himself, I would check if he is up to some mischief and chances are, he would be making something from that lump of blu tack.
The other day i was happily doing my translation and my son suddenly showed me the above and said, "Mummy, nah.. sperm..."
Hahahahahaha.... Hilarious! Especially to discover eyes and mouth when I did explain to him later that sperms don't have eyes after he asked me whether sperms have eyes when someone we knew was pregnant..
The best part is the way he said it was like so nonchalant.. after I took picture of it and said i am going to post picture of it in my FB cos it is very cute, he took it back and rolled into a ball and told me, "This is the egg..."
Then he took it back and twist and roll it and said he is going to make me a ring...
swee boh?
Anyway, I guess it means that my sexual education on him is successful!:) wahahahahaha But maybe he has got the order wrong.. should do the ring thing for a girl first before let the sperm swim to the egg.. wahahahaha...
Anyway, he is really a creative little boy!:)
Talking about creative, Ace came home that day with two pictures he did during art class... BOTH PICTURES were pictures of his NAME... how narcissistic ..
I asked him why all the pictures has his BIG NAME inside and he just calmly and cooly said, "Because I like lah.."
????!!!!!???!!!
Anyway, i like the brightly colored one.. quite artistic I think:)
