Myanmmar Trip 2016

Last year, Ace really enjoyed himself...

This year, when our Lions Club organized the trip again, Max decided to bring Ace again.. This time round, we had more members joining the trip and so it was alot more fun since alot more people.

I was not attracted to the trip and did not go and ended up staying in SGP since I was also doing a detox which will make meals kind of difficult..

Father and son woke up early morning to go take flight..

Sleep head's tired face:) Hahahaa....

Ace said he wanted to bring Evee along to keep him company..

Day 1
Finally reached Myanmmar...

A group shot at the airport...

Loading all the luggage at the top of their van....

Finally arrived at the hotel...

Ace made himself useful by helping them to take photo...

Then it was party time!

My son learnt in this trip, what is called a GLENN :) hahahaha..

THen time to go on the road again...

Max sent me this photo and complained that he is human mattress... hahaha... poor thing:)

Before they went to visit the homes, it was first.. time to go to market to do some grocery shopping. This time round, Ace just donated $50 to the main fund instead of using the money to buy one particular thing...

Visit to the first home..

Max says these houses are all made of wooden poles and they look so fragile he is very afraid when he steps on them...

The happy residents of the home:)

Grouping together to sort out what are the things to be given out to who...

Before coming our members gathered some donated items and arranged for different homes to get different gifts for their children..

The kitchen in the home...

Day2:

Our club president, Aunty Dianna presented Ace with a pin for joining our trip and having a big heart to donate some of his savings to the trip.

Onward to visit another home...

I think it was a long journey.. Ace told me there was one day where he slept for 3 hours in the van... and I am not surprised human mattress had to grin and bear with it for 3 hours.... All together now... *sings* 世上只有爸爸好.... Hahaha

Max says this little boy is very cute...

Ace brought a teddy bear to donate as a gift and decided to give to this little boy...

Their trip was packed with visits to different homes and while in the van... the party started...
Based on this color.. wat party do you think it is? Yes... it is the GLENN PARTY... hahahah...

The next part of the trip is a memorable one for all...

THe van came to this part of the route filled with potholes.... in the end.. EVERYONE HAD TO GET OF THE VAN AND WALK!

Found a friendly dog while walking...

This sporty group still 苦中作乐... hahaha.. actually no easy feat given it was very warm and almost half of our grp are aged 50 and above...

This next home they were visiting is kind of special.. the last time Max visited, they were living elsewhere in dire conditions... after the trip, we gathered resources and managed to get enough money to build them a totally new home to house the kids....

 Chicken coop... to rear chickens..

The lovely new house we helped built:)

 Kangkong fields!

 Sturdy new cement toilet...

They have space to grow gourds.... and rice...

Ace actually kept some of the rice grains he plucked into a plastic bag and brought them home as memento...

Ace is happiest when he sees these little chicks and small animals...

He had a chance to play with some puppies:) Ace told me when he was playing with the puppies, the mama dog was looking at him at the side and looked pretty aggressive.. cos i think she was trying to protect her puppies.. so Ace did not play for a long time with them...

THe owner of the orphanage even treated everyone to some home grown sweet potato!:)

Ace taking a photo with Jas Jie jie...

Very happy to see them living in such good conditions and happy to know the little bit we contributed transformed lives:)

Max saw this on their way home... the poor chickens...

Next they visited a school because some of Uncle Guoyao's friends donated something to the school and the school wanted to present them with a plaque. This is the uniform I think of the school.. everyone just wears the designated colours but you can do whatever design or type of clothes you want i think..

Ace told me that the school served them a lunch that was filled with bamboo shoots. Because some type of bamboo shoots actually had this really strong taste and smell, it was really a tough lunch to swallow for most of them.... dun eat, paiseh... eat liao... very tough...

Day 3:
Time to take the ferry to visit more orphanages and even do a little bit of sight seeing.

Ace made himself useful as body guard to guard all the things they will be bringing over to give out in the orphanage...

Max saw these kids selling keropok at the ferry... he dunno wat they selling lah..  he bought just to help them...

Even asked for a photo...

So many modes of transport to get around... van lah, ferry lah... and now, trishaw:) haha..

Back to a familiar place... these were the wells they were building the last time Max and Ace visited... very happy to see that the wells are well protected and still working to serve the community:)

Then they visited a snake temple..
Though I born in year of snake.. I dun think I will DARE to go into this temple... scary...

Ace super haolian wor.. says that his dad is more scared than him when they went in and even got proof cos Aunty Wendeline filmed the whole thing down in video!

Max and Ace saw some kitties and Ace has a good time petting them.... I think what he loves most about these trips is the chance to see all these cute, little animals..

Then it is time for a meal.. some of them ate here....

After lunch, they went to visit yet another temple..

Ace had a chance to ring the bell and make a wish...

Apparently, another group went to eat KFC cos someone said the KFC there is very nice:) But they came back saying so so onli leh...

One had to cover their knees to go into temple grounds so those who were wearing short skirts or bermudas had to find some scarf or wat to wrap around as skirt... Max had to buy a sarong...

This is our model-wanna be posing in very hiao pose together with the other ladies... hahaha

That day was a super long day for everyone. According to Ace, it was the day they had dinner very very late... because they had problem finding a restaurant to eat in...

FIrstly, different people had different dietary needs... we have vegetarians and none vegetarians.. and them some restaurants they found were not recommended by their local guide there because apparently the fishes reared there are fed with poop from the toilets and so very "dirty" and poisonous.... And so cannot eat this, cannot eat that.. they walked and walked and walked for long long time then they finally found a restaurant that everyone had something they could eat...

After that, it was time to visit the Pasar Malam.

They saw interesting foods like insects!

Do you dare to eat??

Scary hor...
At least the deep fried ones are not moving...

Ace finally found something he can eat...

And he was so lucky... he was walking with Aunty Wendeline and remarked that this pikachu balloon is very cute... and so Aunty Wendeline bought it for him.. if his dad were around.. he wouldnt have gotten it:) hahahaa....
Day 4:
REally nothing much to shop here so they did a little bit more of sightseeing...

Very on lor.. all of them meet for some simple yoga lessons by Lion Mag:) haha

Then they took a lorry to this place called Wild Park..

They saw alot of monkeys along the way..

I thought this boat is quite interesting..

After that, they visited the memorial again before heading to the airport...

After being away for a few days, Ace said he had THAI FOOD CRAVINGS.. and they found Thai Express at the Mynamar airport.... Both Max and Ace say the Thai Express food is much better than the Thai Express in Singapore.. THe food used to be so good lor.. nowadays Thai Express... just sucks...

On the plane.. Ace so happy to get a kid's gift....

Back in SGP!

Happiest part of the trip for Ace... is that if you spend $120 or more at the airport, they give you a special reciept where you can buy pokemon softoys at $9.90... so he went around and asked everyone if they had reciepts and collected 3 reciepts so he bought 3 more pokemons to keep evee company :)

On a side note... Ace lost the red cap his dad bought him in Myanmar and spoilt his earphones.. he say he dunno WHY it spoil.

His dad says he actually put the earphones in his bag and sat on his bag lor.. how not to spoil I ask you... I think he should just buy and use $20 headphones man.. He even had the cheek to tell me his $60+ headphones are not that expensive so ok if spoilt.. kauz...
