The Future Of Us Exhibition

And so... I read online that there is this FREE exhibition called The Future Of Us where they will showcase all the different things and technology present in Singapore in the coming future. I thought that will be interesting and so I signed us up..

The free exhibition turned out to be expensive cos when Max was trying to send us there.. we kept getting lost and in the end, it cost Max quite an amount to go in and out of the ERP.. hahaha...

Anyway, we had to walk a long way in into the arrival plaza and when we arrived, the first stop was a dome like room where we can feel like we watching a video inside the Omni Theatre...

In the show, there are some things tat they show that might happen in the future like bicycle stands with auto locks... sky gardens and farms.. etc..

And then after we finished the 3 minute film, we are ushered into another room to watch another 3 minute film....

This room is better.. got sofa with a back to seat on:)

More ideas about what the future will be like...

Future cars... dun need to drive one.. just sit inside and can even skype with family during the ride according to the short film...

After that, we are shown into a room with alot of displays of items that Singaporeans will like to have for the future... Most of the thing in the room are already having prototypes and are mostly designed by ITE or Poly students....

 Eg a sky garden...

A droid that deliver food to the people who need it...

A volunteer there told me other than these buildings in the air, everything else already has a working prototype:)

Ace is most interested in these high tech military applications and hopes they will be ready for use by the time he has to serve NS... hahahaha

 Computers without screens...

Watches that can act as projectors..

A wheelchair that can help a totally paralyzed person stand up to get things that are on a higher shelf..

A Baymax of sorts.. it is a watch that can collect info and even transmit a holograph of a  medical care personnel to tell you what to do when you fall down or are injured at home and have no one to help you...

Customized exercise machine to develop the right exercises for each individual...

Robot that teaches you how to do TAIJI!:) hahahaha

A mirror that allows you to read ur emails while brushing your teeth!

Sky farm:) Where plants can take the "ferris wheel" and take turns to enjoy sunlight:)

After that you go into a room to key in  your dreams and store them in the dreams bank...

Ace's dream is some sort of tank he designed:)

And then you will reach the last stop.. which is a playground that collect electricity as you play. I think that is super cool lor!:)

For starters.. all the energy we gather while we are playing and exercising goes to power this machine tat will have sound (roar of a lion)  when enough energy is gathered and then it will blow out one bubble in the shape of a crescent that will fly out and float high into the air.. dunno wat kind of bubble it is though...

Stepping on the Lion's Paws also help to generate electrical energy..

And tat was it! Boh liao?

I came all the way here and the exhibition is just actually two 3 min films, another 5 min share your dream thingy, another maybe 20 min looking at prototypes...and some time at this playground.. so hor.. it is at best just a 45 min thingy....

I really think it is a waste of our time to come all the way here early in the morning...

But leh, we were also lucky that we chose to come here cos of THIS...

It was the last day of the public trial and when we went over to sign up.. we were one of the last few people to be given this special privilege to do a free trial of the self driving vehicle...:)

But leh, it was only 10.30am when we signed up and our slot was for 12.20pm lor... so we had lots of time..

I asked Ace if he wanted to go to the Children's Playground and he said ok lor.. so we walked towards the playground...

As we walked along, we realized all the water features like the rivers and lakes were all filled with algae!

And then we do what the tourists will do.. take pictures here and there:)

Since Max is not with us... I must take over his job of taking alot of pictures of plants.. hahahahaah..

Anyway, while walking halfway.... we walked past the bridge that linked us to MBS..  As I was feeling hungry, I asked Ace if he wanted to go eat instead... and so, we decided to walk over to MBS and find some food:)

Walked past this and Ace says he wants to go watch..

Even walked past this $4k+ steering wheel of a ferrari car.. Ace says this is so cool.. why is it not made into a handphone cover.. wahahhahaha... I think if it were a handphone cover, it will be too obiang lor:) hahahhaa

Went to the directory, and found that there is Bean Bistro by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaves... and a Toast Box.. Mr Atas Kiah chose Bean Bistro...

But leh, I look at the menu and did not feel I was up to eating a huge meal.. so I asked Ace if we can each order a drink and order a breakfast to share... After discussion, we decided to share a waffle..

The very happy Mr Atas kiah who is happy cos he got to eat atas breakfast...

And he is super happy when he got his caramel ice blended!:)

Took a wefie and sent to Max while waiting for our food:) hahaha...

And then the food was here!

Ace like yao gui...

Ate 3/4 o the waffle and finished his drink and even finished up mine when I said I could not finish...

Once we were done, we walked back slowly lor... I told him we had to go the same way we came.. but hor, I keep getting lost lor.. in the end, it was Ace who showed me the way as he remembered tat we needed to go up one level to find the right exit..

Walked past a vantage point and cannot help it but feel a need to take this panoramic picture:)

More pictures of plants... specially for MAx:) Hahahahaha...

When we reached the counter to board the self driving vehicle, it was still early so we went to spend time at the playground portion of the exhibition again...

 Another crescent bubble flying out..

And then we realized now the other machine is working properly as well and the other machine makes a star shaped bubble...

Ace says he wishes he can bring the bubble home and keeps standing next to the machine to wait for the next bubble.. hahahaha:)

And then it was time to go for our ride!

We managed to get a sit down seat and to safe energy, they actually put in a fan instead of using aircon.. cos if with aircon, it will take 8 hours to charge the vehicle and it can only move for 4 hours or something like that...

Very warm inside so we were sweating:) hahahaha

This is a little like a GPS system map... that shows you the route you are going.. actually the vehicle uses a few different systems to tell it where to go so that in case no internet, no this no that.. still got back up.. and when it senses things or people, it will slow down...

For now, they actually have a person who will ride the eco rider in front to warn people in front that the vehicle is coming their way...

 The interior of the vehicle..

Here are two videos I took while on the vehicle so that you can perhaps share that experience while sitting in comfort of your office or house:) hahaa..

This is video one I took when we moved in one direction... the trip was a looped one so it will reach one point and reverse back lor...  you can see that the vehicle stopped when this jap lady put her umbrella out and the sensors sensed it...

The second video that shows the "return trip"... :)

Then leh, we slowly made our way out of the exhibition area and I saw this:)

We realized there is this area we have not explored before and walked towards it and saw this.. Chef in Box thingy.. order your meals from a vending machine:)

This is like a dining area with alot of tables and chairs for people to have meals but around the area, there are alot of interesting prototypes of various designs made by students...

I was quite impressed by this FRESH BOX cos you can sit the veggie inside like you are growing it.. cos it was sponge with water at bottom.. so tat is how you can keep the veggie fresh for longer time!:)

BBQ and test the temp of the food at the same time!:)

Have your meals on the go..  but I think this is a little like the onigiri.. but Singaporean style:) hahahahaha. I cannot imagine what is wrapped inside the nasi lemak on the go:)

Lights that work based on gestures... Too bad the sensor was spoilt...

A sticker you put on your body that collects information about your body so that it can send alarms in case something is wrong...

A hugging cushion that is like a pet and can recognize emotions and hug a dementia patient when they are in distress..

I told Ace this hugging one is good lah.. he is huggy kissy monsters and needs lots of hugs.. one day when I die liao and cannot hug him, he can use this instead..

And then he got upset and say how can I curse myself.. OOPS..

This is a 3D printed model of The Dome to house The Future Of Us Exhibition

 For like this..

 Baymax!:) ahahahahaa

This is how the thermometer BBQ tongs look like...

Lego built using many of the SG50 Lego set ...

This swan is a data collection machine that is developed to collect data about the water in our reserviors...

 3D printer, anyone?:P

Then we walked furthur down and saw a store that sells souvenirs...

 Ace says he loves this..

Cos it is the shape of legos.. but hor, it is actually made of concrete lor.. heavy one!

Guess how much this bottle of zero point costs? Costs $20 lor! I tell Ace i buy rubberband from daiso only $2 and he say.. "But pple pack nice nice in bottle mah.. tat is why $20.." I told him I can pack in my kanacai glass bottle that I can recycle lor:) hahahahaa

 Saw this interesting painting:)

I told Ace this notebook is just the one for him! Hahahahahaha...

Anyway, Max came to pick us and he suggested going to Ngee Ann Poly to eat lunch cos he read about this yummlicious award winning chef canteen 6 at Blk 51...

Wah, canteens these days so nice one ah... got aircon somemore....

 THe pasta is so so...

But the stewed monkey head mushroom was really good! Apparently, the chef just returned from Taiwan for competition and won a third prize:)

He used to work in one of our fav restaurants and so he stall has my fav SHI LIN chicken chop!:)

Ace ordred shredded chicken noodles ...

And Max ordered a Little Prince Chicken set cos the shop name is called Little Prince.... But actually this is like the DFC chicken in tat restaurant we used to go to lah..

Ate till so full till I had to skip dinner lor:) hahahahaha... Very sad to find out tomm's special will be my fav taiwanese hong shao beef broth noodles... I really love that but NAP is really just too far away from home to visit two days in a row.. :(

Anyway, I am glad we got a chance to take the self driving vehicle so at least Ace was not tat grumpy.. hahahahah...
