New Helper

Yeah! We have a new helper at home!

Presenting our new maid helper.. Ace Chua! :)

Apparently, according to Waipo and Zeng Popo, you just need to give Ace a broom, or a mop and he will start to TRY to mop the floor and clean the house!

His posture not bad right? hahaha.. very good.. one more person to help clean my house..

i think my next set of toys for him would be a small set of broom, feather duster and mop.. hahahaha...

The other day, Ace even helped me throw some paper into the dustbin at my request! This is good.. ;)

Stools

Ace has a new favourite toy- Stools.

There are a few stools in Waipo' s house and he loves playing with them..

He would take them along all over the house and then try to sit on them.

He would try to sit on a stool
when he is watching TV...
when he is eating his biscuits...
when he is playing with his toys...
when he is doodling away on paper...

Sometimes, when he gets sick of facing one position, he will shift his bum to go into another direction but will end up falling because he pushes his bum too far out into the midair...

But I think I have to try to curb my habit of shaking my legs when I am sitting down because this is what i caught him doing the other day...

OOPS!

Slide

I marvel at my son's ingenuity.

Bring him to a playground and he refuses to go up and down the slides.

Give him Daddy's crutches, and he is happy to slide up and down.. hahaha..

Alternative Playground

In bid to do my part as a GOOD MOTHER, I brought Ace downstairs to the playground for some fun again...

When we reached the void deck, he started crying and wanting me to carry him. A good mother who follows all the advice I read on www.babycentre.com, I squatted down to his eye level and hugged him. And then I looked at him in the eye and told him that if I carried him, we would be going home. If he walked, we would go have fun in the playground.

He cried and walked unwillingly. (yeah! I win! hahaha) Alas, when we reached the playground, he sat down on the rocking chair and refused to move. When I encouraged him to move along, he just STOOD at the playground and stared at all the slides and fun games there.

Maybe he is a mismatcher. Bring him to a playground and he doesnt want. Tell him we are going home and he suddenly develops an interests in alternative playgrounds like void decks and alternative toys like letter boxes and poles... hahaha...

Pianist Ace?

Okay, I decided to be brave and let Ace play with the electric organ again...

This time round, he stopped wanting to stand on the piano and seems to understand that you are suppose to hit on the keys to produce music.

And HIT he did! Very hard.. that i was so afraid the cheapo electric organ ( i bought it for waipo at some carrefour toy sale) would break into a few pieces.

I tried playing his favourite song for him to see if he recognizes it.. alas, he was just busy trying to HIT on the keys.. At least he understands that.. there may be hope for him yet! Who knows he may turn out to be an internationally reowned painist ! Hahaha...

Concert

A huge round of applause for Waipo's very successful concert in school! (Waipo teaches at Kinderland Siglap)

Brought Ace to watch the concert rehearsal (since there are lesser people around) the other day and he was so intrigued by it.

First and foremost, he saw many of his favourite things:
- children
- beautiful girls
- songs
- dance

He was so intrigued that he actually managed to sit down for a FULL hour to watch the concert!

That is not mean feat I tell you. And anyone who has a one year old would be able to tell you that as well.

And then the more he watched, the more excited he became and in the end, he went over to the stage, stood there and watched and decided to climb up on stage to join them. Had to keep bringing him back to his seat.

Because the second half of the concert included plays by the K2 students and Ace did not really like it when there was alot of talking done, he started wondering around.. and asking for his biscuits in the later half of the concert.

And then when he saw Waipo behind the backstage curtain, he kepts asking Xie Lao Shi to carry him so that he can see Waipo better.

When we were about to go home.. he cried when Waipo told him that she still had to stay behind. But well, there is nothing food cannot solve. Waipo gave him a piece of bread and he was okay.

Since he has had lots of biscuits and bread, i decided to bring him home via bus. We went across the road using and overhead bridge and I let him take his time to walk across the bridge. Seems that he is not really afraid of heights...

We leisurely strolled back home from the bus stop and even stopped by the playground to have some fun ;)

Alas it was too warm and so we went home after a short while..

Koala Ace

Ace has a new stunt just BEFORE and AFTER he sleeps.

Before he sleeps, if Waipo (his favourite rocker) is not at home, he will come to me and ask me to carry him. His favourite position is what I call the koala pose. He would slips his arms through my armpits and then hug me tightly and then rest his head contentedly on my breasts.. like this:

Daddy is very jealous and keeps saying that Ace has the best position in the world... hiaks...

Meanwhile, Ace knows tat Daddy is jealous and then when he sees Daddy while he is in this position, he will rub his head left and right on my breasts and then give a wicked smile as he lies back comfortably on my breasts.. hahaha..

Playground

I have had enough of helping Ace wear his shoes at home and so I decided to bring him to the playground for some fun..
He saw this little girl at the playground... but the jie jie was older than him by two years... and even though Ace loved children and wanted to play with her, he did not know how to and ended up just standing there and watching jie jie go up and down the slide...

Nevermind Ace, you will learn that in time to come ;)

Pore Care Power!

I am not much of a skincare person.. but recently, my business partners launched this new skincare range (you can read more here if you are interested in good skincare free from SLS and Parebens with nano molecules to penetrate deeply into your skin).

Anyway, Shenice came and bought the porecare. After she used it, she told me that it is very hydrating and really good.

I decided to carry out an experiment.

You see, Daddy's leg has not touched water for a long long long long time... so all the skin (especially the area around the toes) were dry and flaky. So after cleaning his leg, I used porecare all of over him and this is what I found:

Encouraged by this successful experiment, Daddy suddenly remembered that the Kiko will make him able to stretch more and so he stretched out and was so happy. "First time i can touch my toes in a long long while.." he declared.

Hide And Seek

Ace is starting to have some concept of playing hide and seek.

When you squat down in front of him, he will run behind you, hug you from the back and try to hide from your view. If you turn around and see him, he will give a shout as if to say, "Boo!" and then giggle uncontrollably.

The other day, right after dinner, he decided to play the game of hide and seek with his pram. He ran behind the pram and hit by a flash of brilliance, he decided to hide inside the basket under his pram!

He held on to the sides and then proceeded to climb INTO the pram even though Lao Ma told him to stop...

My heart nearly dropped out when I saw him in the pram! He is 12kg already leh..

I quickly carried him out and unfazed, he tried to repeat the same stunt... I gave him my dagger stare and at last resort.. into the playpen he went ;)

Thankfully, he never tried to repeat this stunt again...

Musical Genius

You already know how Ace loves to wriggle his bum to music and how he can even say, "Nen Nen Nen.." to the rhythm of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...

So in bid to develop his musical talents a little furthur, I decided to bring out Waipo's electric organ for Ace to play with. Alas, there were no batteries in it and thus music could not be produced.

I thus told Ace that we would buy battery and play with it tommorrow but he kept crying and kept wanting to at least play with the box.

The next day, I brought him to the market to buy batteries for the organ. He was happily exploring the pasar malam in the market when he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks and paused there as if concentrating on something.

I paused and tried to figure out what he was doing and realized that he was listening to the music that the CD stall was playing. It was this taiwanese soap opera theme song that Waigong watches everyday. Guess he finds it familiar and intriguing that he can actually hear the same piece of music outside of his home..

But after so much extra effort to let him play with the organ, I realized tat I made a wrong move in the end...

Rather than hit on the keys to CREATE MUSIC, he tried to DESTROY the organ by sitting on it, standing on it, trying to pull out the keys... and pressing all the buttons REPEATEDLY.

Boh pian.. i had to keep it and try again another day when he is not so violent.

Stuck

Ace has a strange habit...

Like all babies, Ace likes to go out and have fun...

But I don't bring him out of the house everyday even though I try to do that as often as possible.

I guess I am lucky because Ace is very clever and very easily contented.

Whenever we stay at home the whole day, Ace will bring me his shoes and ask me to help him put on his shoes. Then he will walk around the house with his shoes and then when his feet get warm, he will ask me to take out for him.

Then he would like rest for two hours and play barefooted.. and then he would pick up his shoes and ask Daddy or Lao ma to put them on.

The other day, while he was walking around with his shoes, they got stuck in the whole between the door and the ledge...

He gave a surprised look and tried hard to take his foot out but to no avail. Just when he gave up, he fell and then as he sat down on his bum, his foot came out.. hahaha...

Anyway, Ace loves his shoes now. While he was initially unused to wearing shoes. He now loves them and sometimes even tries to JUMP and RUN in his shoes.. even though he hasn't mastered the motor skills to do so.. hahaha..

Which will also explain the bump you see on his head now.. the other day, he was so excited when he picked up the Lord Of The Rings DVD and ran from my bedroom to the living room.. WHAM.. he fell and knocked his head on the floor...

Dun worry though, this brave baby only cried for like 30 seconds ;) I think he has inborn TIE TOU GONG...

What Would Ace Do For Food

Question: Why is Ace willing to sit down on a chair to wait on his food when we tell him to.. and why is he not willing to call Daddy or Mummy for the same foods?

Answer
: I also dunno..

Anyway, nowadays, when we give Ace food, biscuits, we will make him carry his plate and carry his chair to sit down properly before we gave him his food.

Eager to eat, he is always happy to oblige.. but sometimes he plays cheat by sitting down on the floor direct because he finds it a waste of time to bring his stool over.

I guess I can say that Ace has kind of outgrown his high chair. Dunno whether he would want to sit in it or not when we get home...

I Want Bao Bao!

When Ace had just learnt how to walk about one or two months back, he was always happy to walk around and refused to be carried.

Now, I dunno whether to laugh or cry because what all seasoned parents have warned me about has arrived. He has gone into the "I can walk but I am lazy so mummy can you carry me" stage...

Today, I decided to bring Ace out since he has been couped in the house for a long time since we shifted to Waipo's house to wait for daddy's leg to heal...

We were just out of the house only and he grabbed my leg and asked me to carry him. I told him that I would carry him down the stairs but after that he would have to walk.

When the lift reached the void deck, he stepped out and then hugged my leg again. I carried him and told him, "Ace, if you want to go market, you must walk yourself. If you dun want to walk, then we go home, ok?" And then I put him down and ask him to choose.

Richie Ah Ye and Jez Ah Ma warned me before never to give in and carry all the time because if you do that they will expect you to carry all the time.

Ace chose to walk.

But he was a little half hearted about it and keeps stopping and hoping that I would carry him.

Just 10 steps later, he is hugging my leg again.

I squat down and told him, "Ace, do you want to go home? Do you see the traffic light over there? You walk there and mummy carry you across the roads. You are the best, I know you can do it.. "

And Ace Chua seemed to understand and started walking.... when he fumbled, I just encouraged him, "Jia you.. you can do it.. good boy!"

So we went there, bought our stuff and came back..but on the way back, Ace became tired and grumpy... and then he started to chut pattern to get me to carry him.

As I was holding his hands, he started leaning on the hand tat I was holding and started walking in a zig zag manner. Then I told him that if he can walk to the tree in front, I will carry him from then on.. and so he started doing stunts...

And then.. ta da, he fell down and scratched his hands and knee lightly. But I decided that he has to reach the tree before i will carry him and encouraged him to go on..

By the time we reach home, i am drenched from all the sweat...

I think I will think twice about bringing him out without max.. hiaks

Good Samitarians

If there is one good thing that came out of Daddy's broken leg, it would be that we met many really nice and kindhearted people who filled warmth in our hearts.

Ace, if you are reading this one day, always remember to help others and show kindness.. and always remember to PAY IT FORWARD, OK?

There are so many people who are helpful...

Jez and Richie: Always ready to send us to hospital, help us collect stuff and listen to me grumble.. and bring me to eat xian cai ya tang during this period...

Papa and mama (Yeye and Nai nai): Who are so understanding.. always coming to bring Ace downstairs.. and always buying things for us to eat when they come..

Mummy and Daddy (wai gong, Waipo), Popo, Ah Yee and Ah Ma: For their invaluable help with taking care of Ace, cooking food for us, washing our dishes, washing our clothes, spending so much extra cash to buy this and that so that we can live here and feel more comfy at their house.. Especially mummy who has to give up her master bedroom to us and Daddy who is always working hard to cook for us and Ace... Ah Yee for supplying lots of supper (no wonder we gained weight.. hahaha)

The malay couple : We were waiting for a cab and when they saw Daddy's leg, they let us have the cab first even though there were there first.

The malay aunty: who was in a cab and could have gotten off opposite the road to save $0.20 but made the cab u turn to stop right in front of us so that we could get a cab immediately.

Mr Teo: We were waiting for a cab in the rain, he was back from dinner with his family and he came over to shelter us with his umbrella.

Dr Leo and Uncle Ng and all at the plaster room: Thanks for all the jokes, the encouragement and all the things you said to help me and Max feel better about the injury and have more belief

The taxi uncles who always come out to help max in and out of the car...

And all others who showed concern in one way or the other, thank you!

Those Were The Times

Really miss Daddy and his good leg...

When Daddy's leg was good, we could go part tor, we could go out with Ace.. (and daddy says also can (zuo Ai zuo de shi) but it has been so many weeks since we cannot do all those .. very sian..

Anyway, the day just before Daddy broke his leg, we actually went out with Ace early in the morning to send Raymond off to SCS..

After that, we brought Ace to a delifrance buffet breakfast..

Sigh.. these pics do bring back good memories..

Daddy.. get well soon! REMEMBER.. YOU HAVE TO HAVE BELIEF!!!!!

We talked about how BELIEF would play a role in helping Daddy recover from his leg cos I was reading this book that says BELIEF has cured many people of their diseases.

Daddy said he was almost losing any belief that his leg was getting any better because he still felt the bone move and did not seem to be getting any better.

Good news though.. the doctor says his leg is better. When he removed the cast that day, his leg was no longer dangling and was straight.. his swelling is gone and Uncle Ng says that there is healing tissue joining the two bones together already.

Daddy, Jia you! Let's recover BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!

Xiang Xin Jiu Shi Li Liang!

PS: Wrote this some time back.. since then, Daddy has claimed that he can feel that his bones have joined together! Yeah! Get well before xmas.. get well before xmas, get well before xmas!!!

Golliwog

Question: What goes down but always comes up again?

The answer: A Golliwog!

Ace discovered him for himself the other day and spent a good half an hour playing with his new Ribena golliwog.. he is still trying to figure out why the golliwog always bounces back up and so this toy never ceases to fascinate him.. hahaha ;)
