Papa Not At Home

Max was overseas for work and so me and Ace had to find ways to keep ourselves entertained...

By doing boh liao things like taking these photos :) hahahahaha

We bought Gongcha and there was some promo where you will be given paper moustache.. hahahahaaha.. so we both chose the rainbow one:)

Ace found my hairclip, did this and said..."Mama.. look! My third eye..."

Meanwhile, his dad was also enjoying himself watching horse races, having beer with his colleagues ... hahah :)

One of the days when Max was not around.. was a little "exciting" for me...

My frens jio me go karaoke and Ace said he had after school lessons.. so that meant I could be away all the way till 6pm.. cos he had tuition after tat...

I went for my karaoke tat provided freeflow drinks, snacks and even ice cream...

And even saw my fav lan ling wang pretending to be Legolas..

And just as I was admiring the view while having lunch, my son called me and said there is no after school class!

Siao liao!

So I asked him to go tuition centre straight cos I know his teachers will be there... Then I couldnt really concentrate on eating liao.. but still gotta finish wat i bought right...

By time I reached City Hall MRT, he messaged me that he reached the tuition centre... and his teacher also called and said she saw him eating cup noodles at the tuition centre and doing his homework... so I continue to jalan lor.. since i reach home also no help...

But I told Ace I will go have dinner with him... and suggested his fav- Mac Donalds.

And Ace was so happy that he got the special bun on his Veggie Crunch Burger.. it is the bread they use for their other atas burger...

But when I opened my burger.. also same bread:) Hahaha.. I guess they just ran out of bread lor ;)

Trying Out New Veg Food

A friend told me there is good veg food at CT Hub and I remembered that when I sent Ace there for some lessons, there was indeed a vegetarian restaurant... but I remembered it as being quite ex.. so we did not think about going there..

So since people tell me it is good... we decided to go lah..

Turned out that they sort of revamped their menu and prices too...

I had kway chap:) Share with Max... Heee...

And Ace had laksa and he says it is good.. Next time, he says he wants to try their burger...

Funny thing though is that Ace ordered Milo Dinosaur and it was served in a beer cup for the brand called Arrogant Bastard Ale... Hahahahaa.. so funny!

AH Yee posted this cute pic of Cay and Gong gong... hahahha.. so cute lor ;)

I said to her... "Papa very 配合 hor..."

And she said... when it comes to his grandsons, he always very 配合 one...

And I guess that is true lor.. the other day, Gonggong was lying on the floor and reading his newspaper and Ace went over to squeeze the blackheads off his upper back...

And he just continue to lie down there to let him squeeze...

Sigh, that used to me my mum's fav hobby... then mine.. and now my son's  :) hahahaha.... This is called 传辰 :D

Matching Gifts From His Grandfathers

Remember that Gongong bought him a new pair of shoes from HK?

Then, some time later, his Yeye won 4D and bought him a tshirt.....

And as it turned out.. they are matching colours!:)

So he happily wore them for his tennis lesson:)

Previous Post: I Am Very Professional

I Am Very Professional

So, the living room clock ran out of battery and Ace was tasked to change battery and update to the correct time...

I dunno why.. but he felt very important to be given this job... He made A BIG SHOW of being very professional and wanted to make sure even the SECOND HAND was accurate and same as his dad's Seiko Watch...

I told him to dun waste time lah.. just make sure the time is correct can already.. dun need to stand there for so long and wait for the second hand to synchronise....

To which he replied, "I am very particular about accuracy because I am very professional... "

Then we went out for dinner, came home and I was going about my own business... And suddenly looked up to check the time.. 😱😱😱

So much so for being professional... Cant even tell hour hand from minute hand and already in Primary 5 lor!!! LOL

Do All 3 Year Olds Want To Get Married?

So Ah Yee sends me a photo of Cay with his classmate, B...

Apparently, Cay has been talking about getting married to B... and he and B made this house and went to the teacher and asked her to come and take a look... and when the teacher asked what that is.. they said this is the house they are going to live in when they get married! Wahahahaahahahahahaha....

REminds me of the time when Ace was saying all the time that he wants to marry Xu Ai, his classmate in school too:) Seems like is a common thing at this age...

And then I noticed this pose..

I asked Ah Yee who taught Cay this pose.. she said she din know...

This is Ace's standard YAN DAO pose when he was young.. if you ask him to take photo.. he will do this YAN DAO pose! Haahahahaha..

Looks like the cousins have alot in common:)

Monitor No More

I still remember how excited Ace was when he told me that he was selected as class monitor...

Today, out of nowhere, when we were traveling out for dinner with his Dad, he said he had something to tell me and that it was a touchy topic and that he did not want to say it to Daddy cos Daddy might scold him.

I asked him if it was something he did wrong and he said no... And his dad asked if he took drugs? Bullied someone? Fought with someone? If the answer to all these is no, then why will he scold him...

So Ace took a moment to think and told us this TOUCHY SUBJECT was actually that his teacher had announced that they are going to change class monitors to give other people a chance at it and they have already selected new monitors (both male and female monitors graduated and were replaced by other students).

And then he started on this long story of how his replacement monitor was his friend, N, and how he has handed over the badge to him... but handover not totally complete as he has to guide N what to do and work together with him... Then he said that when two people were quarreling, N's way of dealing with it was to nicely tell them to stop quarreling but they were still quarreling.. and so he had to step in by shouting at them (because they were very loud and you need to shout to be heard he says) to stop.. and asking them to apologize to each other.. which they did.

I was a little amused at the way he handled things... a little high D (domineering) I will say and I wonder why he has not learnt tact from both his parents:) hahahaa...

I told him also that I noticed N when I was volunteering and I think he seems like a responsible young chap and will certainly grow into a fine leader as a monitor...

At this point, his dad said he still doesnt understand what is so touchy about this...

And Ace said very sadly... "The touchy part is that I lost my position of leadership... And I am very sad about it...."

His dad asked him if his teacher explained why he wanted to change monitors... And Ace said yes.. his teacher said he wanted to give other children a chance too....

"So it is not your fault right?" Daddy asked.

"Ya..." Ace replied.

"But do you accept your teacher's explanation?" His dad asked again..

And he mumbled something which indicated that he did not fully accept the reason and my guess is probably feels like he did not do his best or did not do well enough and was thus "DEMOTED"....

I turned around to him and told him.. "Well Ace, we love you whether you are monitor or not you know..."

And at this point, he started to cry... I guess he thought of his role as a monitor as some sort of badge of honor he wore that made us proud and was worried we will be upset.

We had arrived at our destination and so I walked over and opened the car door next to him to give him a hug....

And then his dad explained to him that his teacher probably thought they already have been doing well and it is time to give the chance to other people to be trained.. And I agreed... Instead of seeing this as him being "demoted", he should see this as him graduating... and therefore he no longer needs to be in this position...

And Max ended this discussion beautifully by telling Ace... "This is your first official leadership position and life is such that such positions come and go.... Don't mind too much about it... True leaders don't really mind if they are given the names of leaders.. true leaders step up when needed..."

So Ace was still moody the first 5 minutes of dinner but afterwards, he was ok already:)

PS: He told me a few days later that his friend who became monitor also settled into the position nicely :) I guess everyone is happy now:)

Fireworks For F1

Was in Ace's room when I heard a familiar sound....

It sounded like the sound I will hear whenever we drive past this overhead flyover on our way home in Dubai from town...

And it sounds like that familiar sound we hear every night during Eid in Dubai...

I thought I heard wrongly though...

And found out I was wrong! THere were fireworks.... cos of F1:)

It's really nice to see that and think of Dubai fondly:)

PoGO Parenting 103: Pikachu Ran Away

The other day, after Zumba, we were looking at the maps and realized that there was a Pikachu near Popo's house...

So our Pogo Gang that consisted of me, Ah Yee, Ace and Cay quickly put on our shoes to go over to catch... Ace was first to catch it.. Then I caught it.. and then Cay and Ah Yee tried to catch it...

But the pikachu ran away....

So Cay was very disappointed...

He was soooooooooooooo disappointed and kept saying his Pikachu ran away...

But good things come to all who wait lor...

About a week later, when Ace was over at Popo house because me and his dad had evening appointments, Ace and Cay kept bugging Ah Yee to bring them out to catch Pokemons but Ah Yee was very tired and so she kept saying noo.......

Till they all saw a snorlax right opposite Popo's house. How can anyone say NO to a snorlax right?? Hhahaahahahhaha...

So they all went to catch snorlax together and Cay even got to catch the snorlax (since Ah Yee already had a few)..... he was so proud and kept saying that is HIS SNORLAX... I told Ah Yee she should rename tat snorlax CAYDEN ;) hahahaha..

And the next time I saw him.. first thing he said when he saw me is "Ah Yee, I caught a snorlax!" Hahahahahaaha...

Ace was just super excited to get another Snorlax... :D

But leh, Ace is quite the sore loser also lor.. every week, when he is in Popo house, he will want to look at Ah Yee's bag and pokedex.. and then when he sees all the rare pokemons that Ah Yee had, he will sulk.. once he even CRIED because he was way behind Ah Yee...

But hor, Ah Yee works in loyang and goes to Changi Village , the POGO HOTSPOT, for lunch a few time a week leh.. of course catch alot of rare rare things lah..

I told him if he is going to cry over a game, I am going to delete it! I think this is a good chance for Ace to learn how to be SPORTING in games...

PoGo Parenting 102

I have often chided Ace for not having positive thoughts..

As he tends to give up easily when he views something as difficult, I always tell him it is important to have positive thoughts.... Because thoughts attract things to you... if you have positive thoughts.. you will attract positive things to you.. if you have negative thoughts, you will attract negative things to you..;)

And over the years, as he grows, he has started to embrace having positive thoughts.. Sometimes, he will even remind me... "BE POSITIVE, MUMMY... You were the one who says dun have negative thoughts... because being positive will attract positive things to you!"

And I am happy to say that Ace brought along this can-do, postiive attitude to his PoGo gaming experience...

The other day, we were looking at the maps and saw that there was a wigglytuff nearby... But it was not that near to get there on foot.. it was two bus stops away and we will only make it if we get on the bus immediatly upon reaching the bus stop..

"Come mummy, let's go!" Ace said when he saw the Wigglytuff... "Aiyah, so far... must take bus leh.." I said... "THen we take bus lah.." And he excitedly grabbed his stuff.. So as not to dampen his spirits..... I decided to go with it.. But all throughout, I was thinking.."Haiya, cannot make it one lah.."

BUT....

We managed to get on a bus upon reaching the bus stop and despite the traffic lights... when we arrived at the location, the Wigglytuff was still there!

There was a rush of excitement and we didn't even have time to high five each other...

And then Ace went, "Yes! Caught it!"

And my Wigglytuff ran away...boohoohoo.....

I told him it is so good he caught it and he consoled me that we will see it again... "How you know?" And with a smile, he told me, "Because I AM POSITIVE..*sings* POSITIVITY.. LALALA"

Another day, I promised to bring him somewhere else to catch pokemons and we ended up in Tampines Interchange to go present shopping and have dinner there as well.. but when I reached the interchange, I realized that I forgot to bring my wallet as it is still in my yoga bag!

And so, we couldnt catch any pokemons... and had to go home.. couldn't even have dinner.. and Ace's face was BLACK.....

And he did not talk to me for the whole journey home.. when we reached home, I asked if he still wanted to venture out for dinner and he said he wanted to.. and when we were making our way again, Ace excitedly told me there is a Blastoise nearby in Bedok... and showed me the address... Turned out, it was right where our bus was heading and was at the next bust stop!

So we alighted lor.. But hor, again I had tat negative thinking... Because of all the bad experiences people had shared on the PoGo Singapore FB Page about how these rare pokemons are difficult to catch and tend to run away, as I was catching, I was half expecting the pokemon to run away....

I ever told Ace about this and he said to just catch lah :) "Won't run away one, mummy... Just aim properly, use berries and ultraball..."

And so, I guess you can tell what sort of ending happened..

He caught the Blastoise and mine really ran away! hahahahaa

So Ace comforted me and told me, "Don't worry mummy.. think positive, you will get it soon!"

So I realized that my negative thinking is not really helping me... good reminder.... And about a week later, we really saw a Blastoise just opposite our house... and we ran there and caught it... this time, the CP is even higher than the previous one that we saw!

"See mummy.. think positive!" Ace told me with a smile..

And so, Pokemon Go taught Ace good lessons about being positive much more than I ever could:) hahahhahaha...

Previous Post: PoGo Parenting 101

PoGo Parenting 101

Pokemon Go is a game that is not just good for bonding with the family and encouraging people to take a more active lifestyle...

Who knew it is also great time to parent your child and teach them a thing or two about life:)

Brought Ace out to catch Pokemon because his dad was out....  Ace is usually grumpy when his dad is not able to make it home to have dinner with us and so I thought going to catch Pokemon will be a good distraction...

I picked him up from after his tennis lesson and we slowly walked back home and tried to catch pokemon along the way...

And by the time we were near home, I was really very tired from all the walking and I assumed Ace should be too.. besides, I was also carrying quite alot of things, it was really tough...

I looked at the map saw that there is a Growlithe nearby... Walked towards it and then after trudging forward and putting lots of effort to pull my tired, old, body  to walk towards the Growlithe, Ace suddenly exclaimed that the map shows a Snorlax nearby and wanted to make a dash for it.

I told him he already has a few Snorlax plus it is very far.. Run 15 min also dunno will reach in time or not.. But we are near our original goal and should continue... And so we did.. And after moving forward another 10 steps, the Growlithe appeared! So we happily caught it.

"Moral of the story.. " I told my Ace is this... "Stick to your goal.. Dun give up... Sometimes you dunno how close u are already to your goal.. If u get distracted or give up, you will never achieve it! Its good to dream big... But opportunity in front of you must grab.... The best opportunity is the one in your hands! "

I know some people think I am teaching him to play safe and restricting his dreams..  And many pro PG players tell me that a snorlax is much better than a growlithe... But it is never about this.. I always run with him when he says there is some rare pokemon nearby...  I am not trying to tell him not to dream big...

The point I wanted to make here is to keep your eyes on your goal  and don't get distracted by other things. If you are constantly looking for greener grass, you will end up achieving nothing...

And to those who think a Snorlax is much better than a Growlithe... I think 知足也是一种幸福lor.. ;)

Anyway, I dun think I can run that much, that far.... in that little time...  with a heavy load too... because it is a few traffic lights away... and the traffic lights are at the junction where the expressway exit is... very dangerous lor....

Anyway, the other day, I was sitting at home and looking at the map and suddenly I noticed that the map has something I had never seen before....

It is a Golem! And it is quite near my house lor...

I have never seen that before!

So I decided to go catch it:)
Too bad for Ace.. I asked him to put the phone in the living room when he zzzz... but he always bring in to secretly watch youtube.. so I cannot catch for him lor...:D

Previous Post: Gideon's Birthday

Gideon's Birthday

So Ganma Megan sent me an invitation to attend baby Gideon's first birthday... so Ace and I went shopping...

I was thinking back about how when Ace was about this age, he really loved playing with cars and loved everything related to cars... and I  was thinking about buying Gideon this steering wheel thingy....

Ace said I shouldnt buy this because this thing will not stop beeping and should be allocated "Most Annoying Toy" award... Hahahahaha... And he went on to demo how it is bad demo on how to become a crazy driver... hahahaha :) Cos apparently when you move the steering wheel, you may not always be on the "road" and will likely destroy all the houses alongside the road.. Hahaha..

Here is us at the birthday celebration.. Ace is not around at the picture taking because he was outside playing with the other kids.. apparently, there are not many pokemons to catch there but the other kids were using spoofing apps and he was watching how these people were virtually travelling to different places to catch all sorts of exciting things:)

When the party ended, Ace started to play with the balloons.. he tied the helium balloons to the giraffe balloon and made a flying balloon.. and I was so afraid he wanted to bring this whole thing home lor...

End up, he only requested to bring home the helium balloons.. alas, they sat in his room for a few days and he pretty much did nothing to them...

Till I started to get sick and tired of his dirty room and started to scream and shout at him about cleaning up.. and because I had for the past few days... requested nicely for him to clean up and let him do his own thing... NOTHING MUCH HAPPENED..

So I sat there and bark at him to clean this, clear that etc lor... And because the balloons were really useless mah.. so I asked him to throw away.. he says dunno how to throw away.. so I still needed to extra work and use scissors to cut a hole in every one of them... Hai... give me extra work lor...

And what did we buy Baby G? We bought a Noah's Ark wooden toy set lah.. since his parents are devoted christians, I think this is quite an apt gift:)

Kan Cheong TV Spider STILL At 11 Y/O

When Ace started to understand storylines on tv, whenever like a bad person would appear... or is about to kill a good person.. or whenever the hero is in danger, you will start to see him jump up and down.....

And then, fast forward to a few years later...

I thought it is something he might outgrow...

Apparently not... when he was 7, I still caught him jumping up and down when watching something exciting...

And now that he is 11, I thought it will already have outgrown it by now right? WRONG!

And here is the proof:)

We were watching Line Walker and the hero was fighting this bad cop and so he was jumping up and down all the way... But that was a cliffhanger... it ended at the point where the hero seemed to be in most danger..

And Ace kept asking me afterwards if I can find the following episode online so he can know wat happens to the good cop.. hahahaha :)

I wonder how long he will continue do this...

My buddy, Pikachu

Pokemon Go launched their new BUDDY thingy where you can walk with a buddy pokemon to earn candies...

I chose Pikachu  since i needed Pikachu candies and because it required less effort... plus i heard if you walk more than 10km, it will stand on your shoulder:)

Then my PoGo Expert at home told me that the Pikachu smiles..

I was wondering what he meant when he showed me how every now and then, pikachu will start to "smile" and so I tried to capture a screen cap of the smiling Pikachu:) haha..

Anyway, during mid autumn, because PoGo is still "hot" in singapore, I got many well wishes with pokemons in them and these are two of my favorites;)

Ace's Powerpoint Project On Electricity

Ace said that he had a weekend assignment he had to complete and it was some sort of powerpoint slide he had to make. He asked if I could lend him my computer to do it and so I lent him my computer....

And I must say the finished result is quite amusing for me:)

 Boh liao right??????

I laughed at Ace and SUAN HIM...

I told him all these things he said not to do... HE DOES THEM ALL THE TIME AT HOME!

Actually I was rather entertained by his very short and sweet powerpoint.. and very got his 风格 (style) lor...

He said his teacher said later that he likes Ace's powerpoint because it was the most interesting one among the lot:) Hahahahaha...
