Sticky Ace

Ace has been rather sticky recently... perhaps he misses his dad badly...

Whenever I am with him, he wants to just STICK to me.. he cannot sit beside me or just stand beside me.. he either has to sit on my lap, hug me, lie on my tummy..

If I am outside instead of staying at home with me, he will call me at 10pm sharp and he will ask me when I am coming back and ask if I can go back to my mum's place to sleep with him...

Sometimes I enjoy having him around but when he gets soooooooo sticky, it sometimes gets on my nerves and I would tell him "Ace, you are a big boy already. I enjoy spending time with you but can you sit on your 0wn.. you are really very heavy leh..."

And there was one time when I cannot tahan and I told him, "Can you dun stick so close to me, Ace? You make me feel like running away..."

And instead of feeling hurt or running away, Ace in his usual sticky nature told me, "I will do that!" stuck closer to me and giggled... I give up! hahaha..

But well, I guess Ace really showed a good example of giving love no matter what...

Since we are on this topic, I must mention tat Ace has lately started to think tat going against my wishes is a fun game. Whenever I ask him to do something, he will tell me, "I don't" or "I won't" and smile... and if I say, "Ace, please dun XXX" and he will tell me, "I will do that" and giggle loudly...

If it gets on my nerves and I scold him, HE WILL CONTINUE TO SMILE AT ME.. which makes me even more angry because it reminds me of how my sister would always exasperate me and make me lose the control and the authority of a big sister when we were younger.... cos my sister used to do the exact same thing to me just to irritate me and make me angry...

The other day, I used his feet to touch my face and I asked him nicely if he could stop that... and he did not listen.. after 3 warnings, I told him in a quiet gentle voice, "Ace, mummy already told you many times not to do that. Your leg is very dirty.. it will dirty my face and my skin and it will grow pimples..."

And then just to get back at him and make fun of him, I very suddenly increase my volume into a fake angry voice and said, "You need me to scream at you before you will listen?" And then I smiled at him to show that this is meant as a joke...

Ace held both hands into a fist and put them near his eyes, his m shaped mouth came up and he started to want to cry.. and I laughed at him, "Hahaha.. like that you cry.. why are you crying when you know mummy is joking with you... hahahaha..."

And somehow in that split moment, from crying, he started to laugh.. and after he finsihed laughing, he hit my hand and said, "see lah, wo ku bu chu lai le lah..." (I can't cry out loud now..)

And then we had a good laugh together after that....

This is really a funny little boy...

Helpful Ace

Recently, Ace has cultivated a good habit..

After each meal, he would want to get the kitchen towel and help to clean the table...

And I am of course happy to have him do it lah.. Just that he tends to make the whole kitchen wet when he is trying to wash the kitchen towel.. but still, I would praise him and encourage him to do it again and he has already been doing it for a week! Hehehe...

I Tried My Very Very Best To Be A Good Boy

The other day, I had a very interesting conversation with Ace...

We were sitting there and talking about mundane stuff like what he was doing in school and out of nowhere, he suddenly told me, "Mummy, today, I tried my very very very very very best to be a good boy in school because I want to be a good boy... But after I sleep and wake up, I suddenly forgot i want to be a good boy and I luan luan lai and then I got punished by my teacher..."

So I asked him what did he do to get the punishment and he said it was because he was shouting loudly during lesson.

I then told Ace that he is a very good boy and that he can jia you and continue to try to be a good boy..... and he nodded his head..

For the next few days, he will keep reporting to me about whether he was a good boy that day and what good or bad things in did in school.... and I just reminded him that he is a good boy...

And on a seperate note, Ace asked me other day if I love it that he is a good boy.. so I told him, "Yes, I love it when you are a good boy.. and I love you... I love you even if you are a naughty boy, I love you no matter what.." and gave him a hug...

"You will love me no matter what right?" Ace asked me as i was hugging him... "Yes, and Daddy will also love you no matter what..."

And Ace was really happy for the rest of the day...

It just goes to show that all children want is just unconditional love...

A few days later, when we were having another conversation with Ace and I was telling him how sometimes I shout at him or scold him because I do not know how to show my love in another way at that point... I explained to him sometimes we want him to do something because it will keep him safe and if he does not follow, we get worried and may scream and shout at him and hope that he will hear us and listen.... "But I am very sorry when I scream at you..."

And very nonchalently, Ace said, "Nevermind.. I know.. you care for me right? You love me right?"

Hahaha...sometimes I wonder where this spirit is from....

PS: Another day, I was in a super bad mood and screamed at Ace. Afterward, I apologized to him and explained to him that Max's absence was making me very frustrated and upset.. and I am so sorry that I screamed at him.. I shouldnt have done that to him even though I was upset... and then I sang the Ho'oopomnopono Song for him...

And he said, to me, "I'm sorry mummy.... I am sorry I always make you angry too.." and he hugged me... aw... sweet... some comfort in the midst of unpleasant feelings:)

What do you do when you feel like going for a holiday but are tight on budget?

One good way is to do what Ace did.. make believe that you are going on a holiday! Hahaha..

The other day, Ace packed a few toys in a paper bag and then pretended to take an airplane by sitting on the bed and he went to France and rented a "HOTEL ROOM" complete with bed.... he even demos how to sleep in it...

Innovative! Hahahaha..

Our Car Is Spoilt?

The other day, Shu shu told me he made a huge scratch on the car.. and so Max asked me to go down and take a look and see if it is serious like what shu shu said... so I told Ace i am going down to see our car and he said he wanted to go along...

And then he started asking me why I had to see the car.. I told him because Shu Shu spoilt the car and then Ace started asking a series of questions which gave me a clue to his thought process and his priorities in life...

"Is Shu shu ok? Is he injured or not?"Ace asked initially. I told Ace it was only a minor accident.. so shu shu is ok and is not injured... and then he thought for about 30 seconds and then asked me, "So is the car 0kie? Is it spoilt? Then how will gong gong drive the car..."

And then the most important question came, "Then we have to take bus to school??"

Hahahaahahaha...

SO I assured him that it was a minor thingy and that he will get to still take the car to school...

Once we saw the car already and Ace was assured that the car was not spoilt, he asked me, "SO why shu shu got into accident?" I told him because shu shu was not careful.. and he asked me, "Why is shu shu not careful?"

I asked him to go and ask shu shu.. hahahhahaha...:)

Ace Prepares For Our Lou Hei

The other day, while scavaging through the stuff in my mum's kitchen, Ace found a "TREASURE" and came to me and said very excitedly, "Mummy, popo's kitchen got huat lah huat lah! We can huat lah huat lah already..."

I went to take a look and realized it was a lou hei (yu sheng) set. So I told him that it is not called "huat lah huat lah" (Ace calls it that cos we always shout "Huat ah!" when we are tossing the yu sheng) but is called "lou hei".

So he went to ask my dad and my mum when we could do it.. my mum said we would do it on Sunday after his art class.. so when Ace reached home after his art class, he was very excited to help out for lunch.. he volunteered to be the one to set up everything and so we let him open up all the things and put them into the yusheng...

And then we started to lou and while we were busy saying things like "Huat lah.. feng sheng shui qi...", my son started to say the funniest things...

"Huat lah... mummy kuai dian sheng baby ah... zhen popo de jiao kuai dian hao ah.. kuai dian zou lu ah.. Ah yee kuai dian hui lai from fa guo ah..." (Mummy give birth to another baby soon, Zhen popo's leg get well soon and Ah Yee to come back from France soon)...

We luffed until PENGZ lor.. But in a few simple sentences, I think he summed up the biggest wishes of all of us present there that day...

Ace's First Art Lesson At Lollipop

Ace went for his first art lesson at Lollipop Studio that day... The theme for the day is FISHES.. Ace was supposed to draw some fishes using basic shapes like circles, squares, rectangles... I suggested he draw three fishes to represent our family and so here are the three fishes he drew...

The red one is daddy, the yellow one is mummy and the orange one is Ace... My mum says children tend to draw themselves very big in the picture because they think they are very important..... but in this case, he drew a very big daddy.. I guess he really misses Max..

And I think compared to his trial lesson, he actually improved.. as in he starts to understand how things are done and could follow instructions relatively well.

What I find hilarious is while he was using black paint to do the outline, he actually used one hand to sweep his apron one side and stood up and looked as if he was HUANG FEIHONG writing calligraphy! Hahahahaha...

Waipo's BD Celebration

It was Popo's BD and while me and Ace actualy secretly planned to bake a strawberry chiffon cake for her.. but one day, while we were chatting about the bread we baked, she requested that we dun buy cakes and bake her some bread instead..

That is cos in the school where she works, there are more than 100 children and everyday, or every other day, it is someone's birthday and she had to keep eating cakes....

Anyway, because of this, me and Ace decided to bake her a heart shaped bread that we found in the receipe with the Konepan that we bought... it is not as successful as I would like it to be... cos it is kind of like a bread with a cookie on top and on some pieces, the cookie was breaking into crumbles and my mum said my cookie top is too thick...

I am also not sure if I baked it correctly cos initially when I followed the receipe.. the cookie partion part of the dough seemed really funny... like there was alot of excess flour swirling about.. i checked the Japanese receipe and found out that it only required like 50gm of flour! So I just tried to make things right and added another two portions of the other items....

I also did not have any icing sugar and used my grinder to grind some from the rock sugar that I had.. hahahaha...

But well, most important is that both Popo and Ace said it is nice:)

Ho'ooponopono REMIX VERSION

Ace just loves the ho'ooponopono song and he sings this remix version.. complete with dance moves.. HAHAHA.. hilarious! For some unknown reason, he even changed the lyrics...

Anyway, he is really cute.. the other day, I accidentally hit him while walking and so I told him i am sorry and sang this song for him.. and he smiled at me.

And then when we reached home, I went to the computer to check email and when dinner was ready, Ace shouted, "MUMMY, COME OUT AND EAT DINNER!" And then he ran into the room and started singing this song to me...

I asked him why he was doing that and he said, "Oh, I say sorry because I am shouting at you just now..."

So sweet.....

Art Class At Lollipop

At the recommendation of Josephine, I let Ace go for a trial class at Lollipop Studio and this is his first piece of work.

Actually, Ace started asking for art lessons about a year ago...I think it was because he was watching this HK drama serial where the children were sent to an art class called Bobo Club.. so he kept asking me if he can go for art class and that he wants to go for Bobo Club.

But because he was still attending other classes, I told him I would look into it.

So finally his dancing classes came to an end, and we decided to send him to an art class... Anyway, I signed him up and found out that at his slot, he is the one and only student:) So that means he get all the attention from his teacher.

I wonder what his first lesson will be about and what he will draw....

Special Project

We embarked on our first of our series of special projects over the weekend... and it was bread making! :) As you can tell from the photos, it was quite not too bad lah..

About 3 years ago, I saw this japanese toy at GIANT supermarket called KONEPAN... it was a bread making set that allowed you to make small bread of interesting shapes and sizes.. but it was very very expensive.. something like $49.90... and while I liked it very much, I cannot bear to pay so much for it...

And so I tot I would wait for it and buy it during sale. But even during christmas sale, it is something like $29.90... and so I waited and waited and finally after 3 years, I saw it at carrefour selling for $15! GRAB AH! Hahahaaha...

And thank goodness I bought it so we have something to do over the weekends.

Anyway, the bread turned out ok. They looked ok but the first batch were a tad hard.. (cos I added boiling water to the dry yeast so it did not 'grow' properly). The second batch was better but they taste nicer if I freeze and steam them soft..

Anyway, Waigong and Waipo said it tasted not bad. We brought some to Yeye and Nai Nai but due to misunderstanding, they thought the bread was for Ace and thus did not eat. I told them we will bake again together for them...

We are going to bake again soon cos popo said that she doesnt want cake for her birthday as she has been eating cake at her workplace EVERYDAY. So we are going to bake a 'heartshape bread' for her... watch this space for our SUCCESSFUL product:) hehe

Grand Day Out!

Last weekend, because I received a letter saying that Ace won himself a free makeover and had to bring him to suntec to take photos, I told Ace I would be bringing him out... and because my mum's birthday was round the corner, I decided to bring her out as well to buy her BD present.

Ace was excited and because we were taking photos, he wanted to dress nicely. Since he was at my mum's place, I asked ot meet on the bus while I left from our place.

One the bus, Ace changed into his shirt and long pants, shoes and even his tie... alas when we finally reached the place, we were told that we can only go and take the photos another day. So we decided to let him have fun playing a while

We passed by a booth that offered art classes and they had a huge piece of canvas and they asked the kids to all go and colour and draw on the canvas. Ace went and tried to draw something on the canvas and he started colouring all over the place.. but the funniest thing was that suddenly, we found him on his fours.. crawling in front of the picture and I was wondering what he was scribbling in the lower right hand corner of the picture.. turned out that he was trying to write his name to indicate that this was his masterpiece! HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Anyway, after that, we decided to find the popo's present.. some nice shoes. It took us a while but we finally found a pair my mum loves... and while we were so concentrated on choosing the best pair of shoes, Ace also found a pair of shoe he liked and he quietly went to put them on and modeled them for me! hahahaahahah

Then we went to Subway to have our lunch.. and after tat.. we went back to Bedok interchange to find some ingredients we needed for our special project...

What is it? Tell you more in the next post.. hehehe
