Telephone time

Well, I decided to spruce up Ace's playpen a little so that it doesnt look so boring..

Using a shoe string,I tied all his colourful sound toys to the sides of the playpen and in order to prevent the phone from being thrown about, I tied it to the playpen also...

Ace was having a great time playing with the phone today after lunch.. he was so happy that he fell alseep in the corner with the phone in his hand and a smile on his face.. hahahaa..

PS: Dear all, this blog will be resting for about a week or so because Max Daddy broke his leg and we have shifted to Yeye's house to stay to help him recuperate WITHOUT STAIRS. He will likely be relying on crutches for 1-2 months.

Yeap, his two shin bones broke away CLEANLY when he was playing soccer on saturday..

Me got to go and be maid Minah and Ace Chua is currently staying with Waipo..

Thank you for your kind understanding.. do send some words of encouragement to Max and KEEP VOTING FOR THIS BLOG!!:)

Jek Jek Goes Taiwan

We went to send Willson off at the airport the other day cos he was going to Taiwan for NS training...

Ace went along to send his Jek Jek off.. he fell asleep in the car on the way there.. slept in Nainai's arms for half an hour and then woke to create havoc at the airport.

He did the limbo rock thing with the safety barreirs, walked around and went talking to people, shaking people's hands and hugging people he did not know and I was so busy running after him and making sure he did not:
- destroy other people's luggage,
- did not hug the wrong person on the wrong area (you know his head is at the groin area now when he hugs most men cos he is tall)
that I could not take pictures of those at all...

But people still loved him. The army boys loved talking to him, the aunties and uncles loved shaking his hands and the little children loved hugging him...

Gee, maybe tat Taiwanese president, Ah Bian should take a leaf out of Ace's PR manual and he wouldnt be ousted from his seat...

Ace Can Do Gongyo!

I think I mentioned before that my son can chant...

Now, he has graudated to being able to do gongyo...

Whenever he sees people chanting, he will try to take away their gongyo book.. and then he will hold the book with his palms clapsed together and then he will open the book and start to "chant gongyo.."

The hilarious thing is that if he does not open the book, he will not chant. He only chants when he opens the book up and look as he is chanting gongyo and he will start to bow his head..

And then he will laugh and look as if he is very pleased with himself for being able to chant gongyo...

When Waipo brought him to a meeting that day, he refused to take the chanting beads that an aunty offered him but opted for her gongyo book.. hahha..

Maybe in a short while, he can also help me clean the bustudan.. hahahaha ;)

Anyway, my mum's soka friend was really nice.. she took a notebook and wrapped it up to look like a gongyo book and cut out magazine pictures and pasted it inside for Ace.. and said that she specially made Ace his very own gongyo books.. hahahaha..

Now Ace is happy to 'chant' with us! :)

The Greatest Networker In The World

Since Ace is in his tummy, I told him that he is the Greatest Networker in the world and that everyone likes and loves him.

Long while back, I read somewhere that your children will start out by getting to know your friends but after they are grown up, you will also expand your network by getting to know THEIR FRIENDS..

I had expected this to start only when Ace turned 5 and went to school but boy was I wrong..

My greatest Networker In The World went out with us to celebrate Daddy's birthday the other day. Since we were by the sea, we decided to take a short walk along the beach and then Mr Greatest Networker In The World decided to explore the world on his own and would only start walking when me and Daddy pretended that we were leaving...

We came across this group of people who looked like they were having a picnic and Ace promptly walked over to 'talk to people'. However, when they wanted to carry him, he refused to be carried but just kept walking around their mat and talking to them and smiling at them.

The aunties all loved Ace. We decided to move on and said bye bye to them.. and the aunties waved bye bye to him as well.. Ace also started to wave but he would only wave and did not get moving until me and Daddy pretended to leave.

He followed us halfway and then the aunties shouted to him, "Bye bye handsome baby..." and then he walked back to them and 'talked' to them again in baby language. We had no choice but to carry him away in the end..

Now, children at Ace's age are suppose to only play with himself and indulge in parrellel play with other children. But Ace was happy to play with all children and would laugh excitedly or even give a shrill scream of excitement when he saw other children.

Take that day when we walked past a kindergarten school where there were lots of children.. if he had a choice, he would have grabbed everyone who walked past to play with him.. and then that day when we went to LIngzhi to celebrate Daddy's birthday, Ace had a field day playing with Oracle and Tashi who have been waiting for him to be able to play with them for a long long time.

Everytime Oracle and Tashi meet me, they will ask me:
- Where is Ace baby?
- Can he walk?
- How old is he?
- Can he play with me?

Well, i have absolutely no doubt that Ace takes after me in this aspect of enjoying fun and liking to be around people ;)

Happy Strip, Happy Ace

Do you know those happy strips? There are those strips you inflate with air and you hit two of them on each other to create noise for celebration purposes say during a party or National Day.

The other day, Fanny Jie Jie gave me one of the orange strips that she had for Ace to play with. (She loves Ace alot cos she adores babies and kids.)

I kept it at home for a long long time.. but out of Ace's sight.. cos I was afraid that Ace will go and poke a hole through it and the dunno what gas inside will leak out.

Apparently, after time because of the environment, the strip will become soft and now that Ace is mobile an inquisitive (everything also must touch and see what is it), he found the strip one day and it sort of became his favourite toy.

He would take the strip and wave it in and then shout loudly, giggle and walk around the whole house as if he was cheering himself on to explore the whole house.. it is really hilarious to observe him...

Just how to children learn how to PLAY with something without anyone teaching them how to do it? I guess it is in their innate feelings or conciousness to do that.

Ace’s Favourite Ball

Daddy is an avid soccer player.. he religiously plays soccer every weekend and goes to the extend of playing even when he is sick.

Long ago before Ace was born, we have already agreed that our children will learn all the dancing, singing stuff from me and all the sporty stuff from Daddy.

Well, Daddy brought Ace to walk walk that day at Toys R Us and they saw this ball that Ace liked very much. However, Daddy was not in a very good mood that day because Ace went to bite him on his tummy and left a very huge print on it.. it was very painful and so even though Daddy saw that Ace liked it, he was half hearted about buying it for him since we both do not agree that Ace should be rewarded for biting people…

Anyway, a few days later, Daddy saw the ball again and decided to buy it for Ace. The first time Ace saw the ball, he screamed with delight and started chasing after the ball.

When he finally picked it up, he just kept it near to his body. When I stretched out my hand to him and said, “Ace, give mummy your ball..” He just screamed and ran away! Hahahah…

Anyway, now that we have got a set of soccer jersey, a soccer ball, soccer socks look alike socks and shoes for ace.. I think hor I will try to take a nice photo of him in soccer uniform holding on to his soccer ball some day.. sure to be very cute.. hahaha

I No Recognize You!

Attention all ganmas and relatives and friends of Ace.

Ace is starting to recognize people very well.

While he is mostly a friendly baby and smiles to everyone, he will only be carried, hugged and kissed or pulled along by people he knows well.

The other day, we went back to Yeye’s house and because Ace has not seen his uncle for about 2 months, when his uncle Wilson tried to hug him, he ran away!

So for all the 4 month category gan mas, or the 2 month category gan mas.. it is time to visit Ace already!

Waipo is very worried though.. everyday when she sends dinner over, she will stand at the doorway and call Ace and Ace will just stare in her direction with his lips pursed, looking exactly just like Daddy in Daddy's famous award-winning baby photo.

Only when she walks within 4 steps of him will he start to smile... Dunno whether is he short sighted or not.. hope not...

Durian King

Just what age will children start to take durians?

I don't know about other children but my son is already durian king at 14 months.

My mum's birthday present for me and max is durians... so she bought lots of durians that day... but we had something on and so we only went to her house at 6pm to eat the durians.

Because my dad had to go out, they already had round 1 of durians and Ace has already had his share of eating. He was eating happily with no show of any signs that he found the smell strong. He just seemed to like it and liked to press the prickly parts of the durian for fun.

When we reached, Ace was having his dinner.. right after his dinner, while we were still in the midst of our durian session, Ace walked over and ask to be fed.. after that, he refused to leave Daddy's side UNTIL ALL THE DURIAN WERE GONE...

If you tried to pick up up or take him away, he would cry. If you refused to feed him, he would also cry..

Hahaha.. never see babies who love durian so much before..

Maybe it is cos I used to eat durians when I was pregnant cos my mentor who is a health consultant told me that it is good for replenishing your internal energy... and then I also read somewhere that your baby actually gets to 'taste' the food you eat when they are in your body so if you eat alot of something when you are pregnant, your baby will find the taste familiar and most likely like it as well..

Therefore, mothers who love to eat green vegetabls are likely to have babies who love eating green vegetable as well.

Anyway, the next day, he woke up at 8am in the morning to SHIT one big lump of durians.. eeeeeeeee.....

Food Explorer

Ace loves food.. you would think he would try to gobble up everything he can get his hands on!

But he doesnt.

Ace will only gobble things up if they happen to be in me or Daddy's hands. Maybe he thinks that if we eat it, then it must be safe.

If you put some food in front of him in a plate, he will stare at it, play with it.. press it, shake it.. and then he will stare at you. Only when you put it into his hands then he will start eating.

Now, if you put something direct into his hands, he will also switch hands to carry it and then he will like stare with it and think about it. You have to push it towards his mouth or eat one piece in front of him then will be dare to eat it.

I guess it is good that he is careful about the things he puts into his mouth..

VPlus Yum Yum

Because many people have been asking me question, I have decided to post the reply here so that I can just send them this blog link to read.. hahaha..

Just why do babies and children love VPlus?

Well the reasons is actually rather simple...

We usually will be attracted to the foods which are acidic if our bodies are acidic. Therefore, a person with acidic body will tend to like foods like meat and seafood better than vegetables. Which is why someone said the other day that it is rare to find children or adults who like vegetables these days.

This is because in our daily diet, most people take and excessive amount (by my standards, not yours) of meat and thus, their body is acidic. Most foods are acidic, meat, seafoods, eggs.. heck, even rice is acidic!

So when you take acidic stuff, your body becomes acidic and you crave for more acidic stuff.. it is a vicious cycle.

But babies and toddlers will love alkaline foods because due to their food and diet.. they are usually less acidic than adults and thus will tend to love VP cos it is alkaline. Most children I know.. especially vegeterian children love VPlus and eat it like a snack or something...

For children who dun like the taste of VP, a quick check with the parents will give you the answer.. usually, these are children who have acidic body constituitions cos they eat alot of meats and seafoods.

My fren's daughter was like that. She did not like VPlus and they had to tell her that she has to take it to be pretty like Clari Jie Jie before she would take it.

And then her mother started changing their family diet and cooking more vegetables and less meat. As she ate less of meat, she started to take more VPlus and now she complains why her aunty (her maid) only give her 5 VPlus when she wants 10.. hahaha..

I am not saying that dun take meat or seafood.. just taking less of it helps as well ;) Good luck!

My Most Favourite Mummy In The Whole World

Attended a birthday party the other day and the parents were debating whether boys are stickier to their mother and girls are closer to their dads...

Yang Kam was the only one who have a boy and a girl.. so he is the only one who could shed light on this.

"I don't know man.. maybe it is my girl's character... but i tell you.. girls give the best best best hugs in the whole world!" he said..

And then he went on to describe how everyday when he came home from a hard day's work, his girl would run up to him and call out, "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaddyyyyyyyyyyy..."

"And then she would hug you so so so tight and tell you, ' you are my most favourite daddy in the whole wide world..' as if she had alot of daddies.."

"But it didn't matter, at that moment, you really feel like you are the most fortunate daddy in the whole wide world..."

And what would his son be doing? "He would be sitting there and watching TV. Boh chap.."

Hahahaha...

Wa.. I listen already also want to melt ah.. gee, wonder if ace will grow up and do that to mummy and daddy leh? ;)

Anyway, Ace baby, you are mummy's most favourite baby in the world!

You are also Daddy's most favourite baby in the world...

Not to mention there is Ye Ye, Nai Nai, Waipo, Waigong, Zek Zek, Ah Yee, Zeng Popo, Lao Ma etc.. and many others who feel the same way too... :P Aren't you a fortunate baby?!

Foot Fetish...

Ace adores my legs.. especially my feet.. hahaha..

The lastest game I have created which is very fun for both of us is that I will lie on bed and raise my legs up to a 90 degree angle to my body.

And then Ace will use my legs as support in bid go stand up and will try to reach out for my feet.

When he fails cos he is too short, he will try to push his way through between my legs and then pounce on my body to hug me.

Kind of violent.. and kind of silly.. but lots of fun ;) hahaha..

Wonder where and how he got his foot fetish...

Anyway, he woke up in the middle of the night to BITE MY FEET to tell me he is hungry the other day.. wonder why my baby is so barbaric!?

He also has this thing about bare tummies.. did I watch alot of Bay Watch when I was pregnant?

Sometimes when I wake, he would climb over to me and then he will try to push up my t-shirt and stare at my bare tummy.. and then he will attempt to kiss it. I will cover my tummy with my hands or my t shirt again and he will pull it away. After kissing it, he will touch it.. and then he will use his hands to dig at my belly button.

Wonder what his fascination is about..

Lizard Dream

I was complaining to Daddy the other day that Ace gave me a bad dream...

Ace likes to sleep between me and Daddy and when he sleeps, he likes to curl himself up such that his palms and his feet will be stuck to my back.

Anyway, that night, I had a dream where I was wearing a tight fitted tee and I kept feeling something on my back. I told my friend that I think there is something inside my shirt cos I keep feeling pressure at that place on my back.

My friend said she did not see anything and so we continued doing something (can't remember what).. and then I told her.. "No, I really feel something inside leh.."

"I think it is a lizard.."

"Take it out and see lah.."

But I was scared cos me no like lizards.. i think they are yucky.. but boh pian.. take out is better than guessing and allowing it to stay on my back.. so I mustered my courage and dig out the thing on my back..

It dropped out.. and it was a baby pink lizard with fushia spots!

When he dropped out, it broke into two.. so I ran away and screamed. Then I settled down to continue doing the thing I was doing and suddenly, the half a pink lizard came to me and smiled to me... and then I woke..

I felt something on my back, turned to look and realized it was Ace's foot.

So as I recounted this dream to Daddy, I told Ace that night that he should sleep properly and not stick his palms and feet on my back..

The next day, Daddy took this photo and I guess if I wanted to change the way Ace sleeps, I would have to change mine...

I Eat Carrrot

Well, the other night, Daddy was complaining that it was very warm.

As Ace went to a SOKA meeting with Waipo and came home dressed in his thick, red, romper.. so Daddy said to change him out of it.

I was talking to Yee Lin over the phone and so I handed Daddy another romper and signaled him to change for Ace.

Cos Daddy said it was warm, he just put it on and din bother to button it... as a result, Ace looked like a Sam Seng Kia lor.. he looked so garang tat I decided to take a photo of him...

To keep him entertained while I go take my camera, I passed him some books that I bought for him at a Toy Fair that day. It was those wipe clean books that teaches children vocab and help them learn names of Vegetables, Shapes, Colours.. etc...

He was flipping through the vegetable book.. and then, suddenly, he saw the carrot.

Now, the carrot is something he is very familiar with because I was doing a Juice Detox and making carrot juice everyday for about 6 weeks... when I was juicing, I would take out the carrot, let him touch it.. and tell him, "Cold, Orange, Carrot..."

And then I will wash it and tell him, "Wash..." and after that I will cut it and tell him, "CUT.." And it has almost become a game that when I cut it, he will say "CUT"..

Not to mention that I cook carrot alot for Ace in his porridge and soups and stuff...

So when he saw the picture of the carrot, he did something really cute... he touched the carrot and pretended to take the carrot out of the book, put it into his mouth and pretended to chew! hahahahah.. so cute....

Violent games

Ace is what I term a ‘violent baby’.

Somehow, he is gregarious and loves violent games. When you play violent games like flipping him over, throwing him into the air, turning him upside down, he will laugh happily and act as if he is having a time of his life.. ;)

That’s good I guess since he is a boy.. if he were like mummy hum chee, that would be very sad for a boy.. hahahahaha…

He is also very violent in that he loves to use his head to hit it against my head, my face, my nose. I think my nose is now 2 degrees slanted to the left liao.. and he banged his head against my cheek so hard that day that it was sore for one week with a blue black!

Today, he came up with this new game where he would want me to lift my legs high up in the air and then he would try to climb up to touch my feet and when he can’t he will separate my legs and hop down on my body through my two legs.

Sometimes I wonder if his nose is now flatter than it was when he was born because of all his antics. So to counteract that, me would now and then pinch his nose to keep it sharp..

Anyway, violent Ace bit Daddy hard on his tummy today. He kenna some beatings on his bum bum as a result and was punished with quiet time in the playpen.. initially he tried to worm his way out by crying and then after awhile cos everyone ignored him.. he just sit in the playpen till he see someone come by then pretend to cry again. Gee, never see Daddy so angry with him before..

But I tell Daddy he already very xin fu already.. only kenna bitten on tummy once.. me already received his ‘kisses’ on my arm, my leg, my tummy, sometimes even my face… when will he outgrow this teething stage?

Hide and Seek

Ace’s favourite game now is Hide And Seek or different variations of it.

Usually when he is in his playpen, you just need to be out of his sight or alternatively, you can use your hands to cover your face and try to find your face and laugh loudly when you unveal it to him and go “Chiak!”

At night in bed, Daddy will use the bolster to cover his face and Ace will crawl over to take away the bolster the two silly boys will laugh together when they see each other’s face.

Recently, Ace found a new way to play this game.

He was at Waipo’s house and then he was wondering what was under the coffee table and so he put his face closed onto the floor.. his bum was turned up into the air and he looked through the underside of the coffee table. Waigong was sitting opposite him and Waigong waved to him. He thought he found Waigong in hide and seek and began to come up, laugh, go down, peep.. come up, laugh.. for a good five minutes…

Ace Has Strong Teeth

Ace was looking kind of bored that day. And I had a feeling that he would be hungry soon if I did not feed him. But we had to wait till Daddy came back from his soccer game then can we go over to Waipo’s house where his lunch was waiting.

I remembered that there is still teething biscuit in the Tupperware and so I took it out, gave to him and asked him if he wanted to eat it.

I am under the impression that for teething biscuits, you eat half of it and throw the other half a way. That, to me, is an awful waste of food so I usually chop it up into smaller pieces so that he will finish the whole piece of biscuit.

But I was feeling lazy that day and so I decided to pass him the whole biscuit since he is good at feeding himself biscuits and VP now.

Now, if you did not know, a teething biscuit is quite tough because it is suppose to be hard so that it can sooth the baby’s gums when they grate their itchy gums on it when they start to grow teeth.

Usually I need to use a CHOPPER to cut it up okie. Can’t even use my hands to break it into two.
To my amazement, I passed the biscuit to Ace, went into the room to get something, came out and saw that the corner is already gone.

“Wah!” I thought to myself, “Iron teeth ah!”

Over the next twenty minutes, he just slowly slowly nibble nibble and finished the WHOLE BISCUIT just like that!

Has it got anything to do with the fact that he is the son of "铁牙无敌玛丽雅"? Hahaha.. tat was my nick in Uni cos I was wearing braces ;) Like mother, like son.. ;)

Attack of the Toy Car!

Ace knows how to be wary of strange, new things now.

We were at Yeye’s house and Yeye wanted to play with Ace. So he took out all the toys that he bought for Ace.

There was one Puppy he bough when Ace was about 4 months old and another remote toy car that he bought for Ace as his birthday present.

As the toy car was controlled by remote and had blinking lights, Ace looked at it in wonder initially because it seemed to move by itself and was so pretty to look at. And then when we made the toy car move towards him, he became a little scared of it. But he still enjoyed trying to ‘catch’ the car.

After about 10 minutes, he got tired of it.

Then the barking puppy came. The puppy is battery operated and will jump and bark at the same time. Ace was quit scared of it actually, he would use his hands to try to flick it away whenever it came near. When I used the dog to ‘bite’ him, he would try to push the dog away.

Finally, he overcame his fear and picked the doggy up by it’s leg and tried to press it to stop it from barking and moving. When that didn’t work, he just threw the dog away and started walking all around the whole house to explore EVERYTHING.

And then we realized that Yeye’s house is dangerous ground cos the danger spots are the ones that Ace likes. I think Yeye and Nai nai very busy from now on.. hahaha..

PS Today is MY BIRTHDAY AGAIN! Gosh.. feel tired after all the birthdays.. finally the celebrations end and my stomach can take a rest ;) hehehehe....
