Sarina Jie Jie who helped take care of Laoma has finally decided to go home and be with her family....
So before she flew off, me and my cousin arranged to lunch with her:)
My cousin Mei gave her some gifts including a notebook and a little card with Sensei's guidiance.... Hahahahaha:) I think my mum will give Mei a thumbsup for attempting to shakabuku Sarina:) hahahahahaah
We had a pleasant meal and talked about Sarina's plans after she goes home. Hopefully, she will be able to execute them and have a great life ahead:)
On the day that she was due to leave, me and my sis brought the kids over to hug and say goodbye to her. After all, she has really taken good care of our kids and loved them so much over the years she has been here....
THe kids taking a selfie with her:)
Then my Aunty arrived to pick her up to go to the airport and we took more group photos:)
Thank you very much Sarina for all the love and work you have contributed to our Peng family and thank you for loving Laoma, loving us, loving our children at the expense of being away from your own family. We wish you all the best in the future and hope all your dreams will come true!
Oh BTW... while we were at Laoma's house... realized my aunty brought out all the old cups my grandparents had and put the on display!:)
My grandfather used to run a provision shop and so they have cups from Sinalco, Pepsi Cola, Green Spot.... and the most special one is THIS...
Guinness Stout cup! Hahahaha.... Took a picture to show Max and he asked me why never ask my aunty whether can give him one for him to drink his Guinness!:) hahahaha
Ace was feeling bored and played with this sewing machine...
And then, this reminded Lao Gou of a story... hahahahaha...
Long long time ago... there was a woman called Ng Yang Fong... life was tough and she wanted to make clothes to sell as an extra source of income. She desperately needed a sewing machine and so she scrimped and saved and bought a second hand one. Alas, the second world war came along and because she was afraid her tool for livelihood will be stolen, she dug a hole, hid it in the ground...
After the Japanese soldiers have left, she dug it out and continued to use it to sew and sell clothes. When her children started to have children, she made PJ long pants for her grandchildren and sewed lots of patchwork blankets for them. Blankets that held so many memories as they were made with leftover cloth she used to make other things for us...
When she passed away, she left behind this precious gem and her granddaughter has decided to keep it and move it to her new house when they get their own flat.... But she hasnt decided if she wants to refurbish it into furniture or to get it fixed so she can simple stuff too...
Therein lies the rich history of this sewing machine. The end...
