We received this via watsapp through Ah Yee when we were back in our hotel.. Ah Yee told us that Ace made a calender to countdown when we will be coming back from the trip:) Haha... cute! It also came with a message from Ace: Mummy, I love you very much. Daddy I love you very much. I love you very very much. Today when I am in class, I learn alot of things. I learnt about dollars and cents. I read a book titled "Mini and Leo". I study very hard. I love you alot. I miss you alot. I love you.
I wondered aloud to Max if by now Ace already knows Ah Yee's phone number... and true enough, when I came home, my mum said tat the few days we were away, Ace called Ah Yee every night and asked her when she is coming home and whether she can come home so tat he can sms us via watsapp... and because he called her everyday.. by time I came back to Sgp, Ace happily informed me that "I can remember Ah Yee phone number already..." and even recite it on the spot for me.. wahahahahah...Think Ah Yee was replacement parent while I was away.. xin ku ni le, Ah Yee... xie xie ni!
Anyway, day 3 is the day we decided to visit the mountain. We called Xiao Li, the taxi driver we met the other day to bring us around for 200 RMB a day and he agreed. This is the view on our way travelling around...
We saw someone trying to build a new house... Xiao Li told us that the houses here were built to some standard formats and the roofs always have this curve at the end which symbolizes them praying for rain as they are farmer s and need rain on their crops...
Our driver brought us to this place where you can take horse rides. They have many different routes and they will bring you to walk around the are to Lasai Sea and some sort of lake or wat.. but I am not into horse riding as I have fear of heights (even though the horses here are very steady ones tat look like miniature ponies) plus I was wearing a very loose pair of jeans tat kept dropping after ever few steps...hahaha.. I so scared pple can see my butt crack if I ride the horse.. hwahahahaha.... so we just took some pics and left the place...
As Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is very crowded with tourists in the morning, Xiao Li suggested that we do not go there yet and decided to bring us to Su He Old town.. got to pay again to go in BUT since we are with a local guide.. he can bring us through the back door FOR FREE! Wahahahahahahaha........
When we walked in.. we immediately fell in love with this place.. this place is even more quiet than Lijiang old town but not lacking in any of the old charm.. there are rivers and many many farms and wells along the way and the air is fresh and the sun is warm.. perfect to laze around for a few days to relac one corner!
We think our fren Mag will enjoy it super duper much if she retires here and starts a restaurant and yoga school.. so we decided we will send her photos of this place when we go back tonight:)
We found a vegeterian restaurang there and decide we will come back to this place another day and eat here:)
Da Bai Cai! Wahahahahahahahaha.. reminds me of MY da bai cai...
It is the type of place where you take nice pics no matter which direction you point your camera to....
People just put foods and veg by the river side to sell...
This is the famous stone bridge here... look at how smooth the stones here are.. cos it has been here for thousands of years! so leh, it is very slippery.
There are so many cafes with live singing here.. we have to come back here again!
The water in the river is so cold you can cool your drinks this way! And then I saw this cute sign.. hahahaha
This one i took while Max went to toilet...
Typical Naxi Fod.. can you find fried brinjal inside?:P wahahahaha
Okie, goodbye Suhe Old Town... then we dropped by a shop tat sell oxygen tat we can bring to the mountains. Because I was panting till like wanna die like tat and becos Max complained tat the air felt very thin in this place, we bought a bottle of oxygen to share...
The scenery on the way up the mountiains.. we got a little worried because it was so cloudy and dark.. hope it will be better when we go up....
We got our tickets! But this 105RMB each ticket only allows us to go up half the mountain... at the halfway point, you pay another 100plus RMB (depending on which route you choose, we chose the one tat brings us to the TOP of the mountain) to go up some part of the way on a cable car.
While waiting for the petroless bus to take us to the cable car station, we took a few good shots..and after a short 10 min ride, we reached the cable car station!
Yeah, inside the cable car...
From far we can see the JDSM Golf Course.. one of the most expensive in china! And I think one of the most beautiful!
After the greenery, we come to the snowy part...
We are now 4506KM above sea level! When we first arrived and looked around at the snow around us, it felt like we were back in Switzerland on the Matterhorn.. the snow and mountains are so beautiful but the tranquil beauty was broken with the sound of people shouting at each other in chiense dialects anyway... SIGH.... wat a mood damper... why cant they keep quiet and enjoy the beauty of it QUIETLY???!!!!
I love my straw hat! Keeps me in shade in the sun and keeps me warm and protects me from ultra violet rays when on the snow mountain!
We saw some people taking bridal photos here!
We are near the peak liao!
Max poses at the peak.. they dun allow us to go furthur than this...
On our way down, a gust of wind came and made me so cold I was shivering!
But we were lucky cos the gust of wind blew away the fog so we could still see the snowy mountain peaks! Yeah, we are so lucky!
After we came down again from the peak, we felt hungry and wat better to keep us warm than a bowl of warm cup a noodles?:P
Ok, truth to be told, they din sell anything else other than cup a noodles.. wahahahah...
We took a cablle car down again...
We found out later tat Jade Dragon Snow Mountain are sister peaks of Matterhorn as they share many similarities, no wonder everything feels famniliar:)
Got hungry when we reached Lijiang Old Town and so we bought a pancake to eat while we watch the crowd go by outside our hotel... it was the time tat the parents were picking their children up after school.. i think a primary school or wat.. everyone were in their own clothes but had a red scarf around them... the children were mostly picked up by their grandparents and we discovered something interesting.. they all look very allike... all the children look very alike to their parents and their grandparents... usually exact same facial features just diff size and hair... hahahahaha...
We rested in hotel for a while and went to Sifang Jie to walk walk to find a nice place to have dinner...
In the end we decided on Love Boat...
Food, glorious food! But too bad it did not taste very nice.. and was quite ex too... quite a let down.. i would rather eat at Jing Gege's place...
We had mushrooms, fried bitter gourd and some sort of soy noodles
Then we walked around a little to digest our food and explore the town somemore as I think we wouldnt have much time left to explore it again...
And just when we felt we understand the town quite well liao.. we got lost again and discovered again.. another part of the town tat we never knew existed before! Amazing!
After walking around, we are back in Jing Gege's cafe...
The frog is designed by Jing Gege as he said frogs are lucky creatures according to Naxi culture.. so he designed a frog tat wore Naxi costume to sell... quite cute right:) I contemplated buying for Ace but thought he has too many softtoys already...
We saw this interesting bottle and asked him wat it is.. apparently they are all wines made by either the farmers here or by himself.. there is one bottle of herbal wine made with dong chong xia chao.. a liu wei jiu made by farmers and a plum one.. Jing gege let Max try a little bit of everything...
While we listeened to the two singers, Jiang Gege also treated us to fried liang fen.. they bought from the market and squashed it on the way home.. so cannot be sold.. so they made to eat themselves and gave us some.. so yummy lor! They fried with garlic, lao ganma type of chilli, suan and vinegar... I LOVE IT!
