Ace Was Invited To A Wedding

Ace heard that Shirley jie jie is getting married.. so everyday.. whenever Ah Yee is going out, he will ask Ah Yee where she is going and who she is meeting... and if Ah Yee told her she is meeting shirley jie jie he will say, "Is it you going to shirley jie jie wedding?"

Finally though, his wish came true.. Shirley Jie Jie asked me if me and Ace would like to attend her wedding and the very excited Ace said YES! And so we went...

Before we went, Ah Yee told Ace he has to give red packet from his bank and his face froze.. hahahahahaha... and so I told him that he is a child and does not have to prepare a red packet as I dun think he will eat much and has told Shirley not to prepare his food... I told him that he has to instead draw a nice card for Shirley and Roy....

Here is Ace decorating the card.... Because Ah Yee and Net Net have to go there early to help out, we also rtagged along as Ace did not want to take MRT there... so we went there and sat at the reception to wait for the wedding lunch to start.. so as to make ourselves useful, I asked Ace to be security guard to take care of the the ang pow job.. while I auto helped out at the reception.. hahaha Ace got bored and said he was a POLICE officer. He found a piece of rough paper and started to write his POLICE report... his report says, "Shirly and Roy married together. They are peaceful.." I wonder why he thinks marriage is peaceful.. hahahaha

Anyway, he saw alot of childrenn but when he tried to play with them, they did not want to play with him. I told him it could be that those children are young and do not understand what he was trying to say when he asked to play with them.. so he came up with a brilliant idea of writing a name tag of his own name on himself so that he cna introduce himself easily.. and true enough, he found friends to play with immediately after putting on his name tag! Waiting for bride and groom to march in... True enough lor.. my son ate two dishes and ran out to play for the rest of the time! His fav YAM SENG TIME :) But the end of the wedding presented a huge problem for me. By the time the wedding ended, Ace had been running around the place for a few hours. He was already very tired... so when he heard that Ah Yee and Net Net had already booked a hotel room to celebrate their wedding anniversary, he pursed his lips.. knowing he had to take MRT home...

And so he asked if he could go visit Ah Yee in their room first and Ah Yee agreed. We went to the room and siao liao lor.. my son took off his shoes and socks, sat on the bed and started watching cartoon network.

No wanting to disturb them too much, I told Ace we had to leave soon. After about 5 minutes, I asked Ace to put on his shoes and he unwillingly did so... I asked him to give Ah Yee a hug and he gave her a really long hug... so we noticed that something must be wrong.. when Ah Yee asked him what is wrong.. he started to CRY! hahahahahahaah I thought he would do a I miss daddy stint but instead he said he did not want to leave the hotel... so still sobbing, I just pulled him out of the door... luckily, we saw another little girl he met at the wedding lor.. so he immediately stopped crying when he saw her as he probably felt embarrassed to be seen crying.. hahahahaha...

And then he started asking me WHY Ah Yee and Net Net dun want to go home... I told him they wanted to celebrate their wedding anniversary and he said why they cannot celebrate their wedding annivesary at home and have to do it at the hotel. I told him it is cos it was the same hotel they were married in and it is meaningful to celebrate there and so he asked me why it was meaningful to do so... faint lor...

Anyway, the journey home was a long one. He said he wanted to take circle line and so we had to change trains. Ace was so tired that throughout the short change in between the changes, he kept sleeping.. and the moment we reached home, he climbed onto bed and slept.... TILL THE NEXT MORNING! Hahahahahaha

About Japan, Earthquakes and Tsunamis

Since the earthquake and tsunami that overtook Japan by a storm, images of the tsunami and talk about the nuclear reactors have been appearing non stop on TV. And because my mum is very concerned about the issue, she will always watch the news to follow this issue...

Because of this, Ace is constantly exposed to scenes of destruction by the tsunami. As I have many friends in Japan as well, I am constantly updated about the news in japan by our friends... and a few days after the tsunami, my teacher and good friend, Hiromi, requested that we all pray for a miracle that the nuclear reactors can be contained...

So me and Ace have been on off praying for a miracle for Japan and sending love to the nuclear reactors.

I also try my very best to explain what is happening in Japan to Ace and he was even inspired enough to want to help by going to a prayer session with my mother one night:)

The other day, when my mother asked if he wanted to donate money to Japan, he happily took out his money to count and see how much he could donate. After counting though, he realized he had less than $10 in his piggy bank and so he says he will donate $5 onli... I explained to him that the money would be for buying food and supplies for the people in Japan who need help. Ah Yee, who is Recreation Comittee member in her company also organized a fund raising in her company....

A few days later, Ace's school sent me a letter that says that they are donating money to the red cross.. I figured the teacher would have explained the reason for donation and then when Ace was talking to Ah Yee about it.. he boastfully told Ah Yee that his donation is better because it will buy food and buy blankets and things they need. So I explained to him that a donation is a kind thought. No one's money is better than another's. Money is just a gesture of help. It is the thought that counts. Even if he does not want to donate, as long as he has the kind thoughts, that is more important. People with more money donate more, people with less money donate less. Everyone's money goes to some good cause and is useful in one way or another.

Then a few days later, one of his classmates whose mother is Japanese actually brought a cheque for $1000 to be donated and Ace requested that I also write a cheque for $1000 to donate it. I told him that if I wrote the cheque, the money will come from my bank... "But I dun have the paper (cheque)..." he told me... That is why he said I should write the paper (cheque) for $1000 for him.

And then I reminded him that he had hong bao money that I was trying to put into the bank... and he finally decided to take some money out of the hong bao money to donate. Initially he said donate $10, then I told him to donate more lah.. so he said donate $15 and then I told him to make it a round figure, easier.. and so in the end, he donated $20 to his school fund raising box ;) (and he felt very happy about it because he said it would provide food and build buildings for the people there and that his money will keep his classmate's family safe) Hahaha.. I am glad he has very kind thoughts... I do hope his donation really goes to a good cause...

Anyway, Ace told me, "I am a rich boy and I can share my money!" Maybe I should ask him to share his money with me.. wahahahahahaha...

Anyway, I am praying still for a miracle for Japan... hope they recover quickly...

Cheeky Ace

The other weekend, I was helping out at a friend's booth at Singapore Expo... so the whole weekend I was away.

Ah Yee told me that on saturday afternoon, Ace was chatting with gong gong and the topic drifted off to how Ace will be going to lao ma's house to eat Sarina jie jie's food. So Gong gong asked him if gong gong's cooking is better or is Sarina's cooking is better... Ace truthfully said "Sarina jie jie's cooking is nicer.." So gong gong pretended to be upset and said, "Aiyah, next time dun cook for you already lah.."

And then Ah Yee, who overheard this told Ace, "Aiyah, Ace, 你很不会讲话叻。你因该跟公公说SARINA姐姐煮的菜很好吃,公公煮得更好吃。然后你看到SARINA就说他煮得比较好吃。" (Loosely translated, it means, "Ace, you really do not know how to talk. You should tell gong gong that sarina's cooking is good but gong gong's cooking is better and then you tell Sarina that her cooking is better when you see her."

I gave Ah Yee a piece of my mind for teaching my kid to be DISHONEST.. haha)

Anyway, then Ah Yee put on her shoes and prepared to go out... As Ah Yee was walking out of the door, Ace waved to her and said, "Bye bye, 会讲话的人!"

Faintz... just where did he inherit these cheeky genes from??!!

PS: Anyway, Ah Yee stunned for 2 seconds but of cos regained her composure and waved to Ace and said, "Bye Bye, 不会讲话的人.."

Rango

Since I promised Ace, I made plans to bring him out for movies to watch RANGO during his holiday... so after checking, I realized there is a 11.15am show and so came home early after my jog to prepare to bring him out to the movies...

A shot with Mr Silly before we leave the house...

On the bus we go....

Because we had alot of time to waste, I decided to bring him to Timezone and let him have a little bit of fun...

I told him he could only choose three games and he chose bowling. Alas, the stupid machine hor, made me swipe my card twice and only gave me one game.. luckily they gave me one free game in replacement....

STRIKE AH!

Ace the disc jockey...

Ace the drummer...

Anyway, since there was a promo.. top up $20 and be rewarded with $8 more and so I topped it up lah.. since he likes to play often and we already have 80 points inside the card. HOpefully can collect enough points to get like a good toy in return...

Then it was time to buy popcorn! ;) Ace wanted to eat sweet popcorn and so I ordered a small one to share.... he was so excited that he wanted to start eating immediately.. but he stopped himself and then declared that we will eat together when the movie starts...

We went into the cinema rather early and since no one around, i decided to take photos or:) And Ace started eating the pop corn...

"I thought you wanted to wait till the movie starts?" I asked him.. "Oh, okie, wait wait.."

This photo is a classic lor.. you see, since we were in the theatres early, we watched about 20 min worth of adverstisements lor.. so while watching the advertisements, Ace would secretly dig into the popcorn box and when I see that, I will eat as well.. and then he will put up his hand like tat and say, "等 (wait)" because he was afraid I will eat too much. If I stopped, he continued eating.. and so I took another piece of popcorn and he would put up his hand again like a traffic controller.. wahahahahahah:)

If I took more than one piece, he would tsk m and say, "等!" And I had to REMIND him that I was the one who paid for the popcorn.. hahahaha

The movie finally started but I feel the movie was kind of adult lah.. so leh halfway, he got bored liao and started standing, turning around.. luckily there was no one behind him.. it was also that he did not understand what was going on and I had to explain what is happening to him...

Anyway, throughout this trip out, Ace went to toilet 4 times.. 3 times to pee and one time to poop.. one of the times he peed during the movie.. so i missed part of the movie.. luckily it was not like a very important part...

Anyway, we decided to take a bus home and since Ace always wants to go on the upper deck of the bus, I asked if he would like to do that since the journey was relatively longer.. he of cos took up the offer. I suggested the first row seat and he was so happy to be having such a good view of everything.

"Wah, mummy, like 旅行 leh!" Ace exclaimed...

I spent about $50 for this whole excursion lor... and to think the most exciting and happy thing that Ace enjoyed most was the fifty cents bus ride! Hahahahahahahahaha

Vegan Burg Again!

Brought Ah Yee and Nett Nett to Vegan Burg with Ace the other day.. the conclusion is that the burger does not taste as nice when Max is not eating it with us.....

Because Ace was up early to jog with me, and because he did not take an afternoon nap, by the time he sat in Net Net's car, he actually fell asleep on our very short journey there but woke up good as new after his power nap.

When he saw the car, he asked me why Net Net's car looked different and I told him Net Net fixing his car and so he rented another car... Ace asked me then what is the meaning of rent. I told him it means you pay someone money to borrow something from them.. And then he asked me how much did Net Net pay for the car.. I asked him to ask Net Net and he did..

Net Net's reply? "I don't want to talk about it lah.. sad lah.."

And thankfully, Ace stopped asking after that.

Speaking of asking questions.. I can never watch any show in peace if Ace or Popo are around.. cos they will take turns to ask me about what is happening in the show.. Ace is the more jia lat of the two.. He will ask me things like why is the girl sick, why is she crying, why is the man there, why did the man say this, why did the man say that... HAI....

So Ah Yee told Ace, "If you do not understand, you pause and wait and listen more.. as you listen more, you will understand.. if you keep asking, you will never understand..."

But I felt tat is not true as well cos it is also correct for you to ask when you do not understand.. waiting and pausing for more info I guess only applies to watching tv.. hahahahahaha.. in real life, dun understand, ASK LAH:) hahahahaa...

So I told Ace that it is okie to ask but when watching tv, he has to learn to observe and understand the show from what is being said. Because alot of times, he will also ask me what they are talking about when they are speaking in Chinese or English... a language he already knows...

Ah Yee noted though, that he has no problem understanding shows from the OKTO channel.. hahahahahaha.. maybe cartoon language is not so chim..

Sticker Ace

The longer Ace is apart from Max, the more sticky he becomes. Recently, as friends who go out frequently with me know...Ace has been calling me whenever I am out. He calls so often that when the phone rings, my friends say, "Oh, your son calling you liao.."

When I pick up the call, he is usually whining and he will ask me who I am with, where I am, why I am not home, whether can I come home earlier, can I come home immediately and spend like 5-10 minutes whining about why I am not at home, why I am not having dinner with him, etc etc etc...

I put up with it because I know he is feeling insecure and make a mental note to spend some time with him alone in the next 24 hours and to alleviate this, I try to tell him in advance where I am going, who I am meeting and what we are doing and what time I will be coming back but sometimes, he still throws a tantrum...

Some days it is a little better cos he gets to express all these in his many written letters and drawings to his dad... Now that he can draw and write quite well, he really gets quite creative....

Most of these letters are addressed to his dad and about his wish of wanting his dad to come back to Singapore... The other day though, he told me that I am very beautiful and that he wants to draw a very beautiful picture of me:)

But you see, sometimes I really do prefer going out instead of staying at home because Ace can get really sticky... he wants to lie down on me, hug me and just lean against me at all times... and when I am feeling hot and bothered, the last thing in the world I want is someone attached to me like a siamese twin...

So most of the time, I just let him be till I cannot tahan and i will ask him to please sit properly beside me or sit on my lap but stop putting his hands and legs all over me.

"But i just want to massage you.." he would say and he would change topic and pretend to massage me only to slowly creep back up on my back lah, on my tummy lah..

If not leh, after I bath and wash my hair, he will want to COMB my hair for me... but leh, all the pulling and tugging with the comb is turning me bald.. so boh pian, I have to ask him to stop after a few comb throughs to keep my hair.. hahahah..

And then leh, when he sleeps, he wants to sleep right next to me with half is body STUCK to me... I asked him why he has to stick to me like a sticker when he sleeps and he says so that he will not have nightmares...

Cos according to Ace, he had a nightmare the other day while sleeping and the nightmare is him and daddy going to the zoo... "But that is supposed to be happy dream what.."I told Ace.

"Yeah.. but there were many gaint mostquitos come and bite my buttock.. very pain..."

Like tat also considered nightmare? Win already lor...

Sometimes, in the middle of the night he will suddenly come over to hug me in his sleep.. when i ask him about it the next day, he says he dreamt that him, me and daddy went out and he wanted to make sure that we were together...

Anyway, my son is very proud of his "stickiness".. he always so proud he is STICKER ACE and tells me.. "Mummy, I like to stick to you like a sticker, right? I am sticker Ace right?"

Yes, right... and even though i sometimes find it too much for me to bear, I still love you, Ace!:)

Parents Need Imagination Too!

Because Ganma Karen is due soon during Ace's one week school hols (And she has already popped), Ganma Karen decided to bring Ace to airport for a dinner.. Because we were quite free, we went to the the airport a little earlier and then took photos...

I brought Ace to the same benches where he cried for 20 min and asked him if he recognized this place and he said, "Yeah, this is the place I cry lah.." Anyway, while waiting for Gandie CK to arrive, we let Ace play at the playground while me and Karen Ganma chit chat....

Ace was quite lucky to have met this really generous indian gor gor who had a bey blade. He lent the bey blade to Ace.. and even taught him how to play it and even let Ace play with it for a long time even though Ace did not have anything to exchange with him or lend to him... (I always think Ace has some sort of yuan fen with indians)..

But that created a problem for me too... Cos the next day when I was out with friends, my son called me and asked me why am i not home yet, who am I with and whether I can come home now. When he realized that it was not possible for me to reach home immediately, he kept bugging me and asking me if I could buy him a bey blade stadium for him..

So for the umpteenth time, I had to explain to him that it was not cost effecient to pay so much money for a piece of plastic tat did nothing except let you put your bey blade on it.. So leh, to let him hang up, I told him I will settle for him when I came back.. Hahaha.. so this is where a good bit of imagination comes in.

Because the bey blade stadium is just a piece of concave plastic so tat the beyblades can "compete" in, when I reached home, I went to the kitchen, took out a piece of concave plastic and showed to Ace. "Next time, you can use this as your bey blade stadium.. but you just need to make sure it is dry." And so the next day when I was out, my son really used the ORANGE BASIN that i showed him as a bey blade stadium.. wahahahaha.. apparently it worked but Ace asked if I could buy him a bigger basin.. I asked him to use the one u used to use as a bathtub when he was a baby.. wahahahahahahahaha...

And hor, I am so glad my son has good imagination too and was happy with the suggestion:)

PS: Thank god I bought the FAKE beyblade for him when I was in Macau.. it only cost me S$7.50 for a set of two launchers, three beyblades and numerous changeable parts... the actual bey blade costs like S$99 for the full set i think... I refuse to pay this sort of ridiculous price for such a useless toy...

PPS: I found a $9.90 beyblade stadium and have been using it as carrot to get him to get 100 marks in all his spelling and ting xie ;)

Of Mice And Men

Shu Shu's hamsters got very PRODUCTIVE again and gave birth to 6 baby hamsters... Because he did not know what to do with it, he thought of bringing it back to the petshop near his house to sell them to the owner but alas, the uncle said tat the hamsters are too old at a few weeks of age to be sold... so leh, Shu Shu boh pian and just brought them home...

Ace fell in love with the hamsters and to my surprise, he actually dared to touch them and pet them... but because the hamster's feet are very ticklish when you carry them, Ace would giggle and "drop" them back into the box.. thank god hamsters are very hardy creatures...

Yet when I asked him if he wanted to keep them, he said he is not able to take care of the hamsters. "Wait till i am older and can take care of them..." he said. Wah... impressive answer...

Yeye kept saying it is easy to keep the hamsters and asked me to keep two at home.. but I really dun think I have extra energy to take care of hamsters...

Anyway, we were jokingly saying maybe can let Max bring some over to Dubai to keep him company and Ace says in that case have to ask daddy to bring 3 hamsters to Dubai.. one will be called Ace, one called Angel and one called Max.. so that they can be happy family...

HAHAHAHA Sweet...
