Sunset At The Palm

Since we arrived in Dubai, the weather has been hot hot hot... so leh, there is really not much motivation to do anything or go anywhere except supermarket shopping and shopping malls...

Perhaps the weather is better now.. or perhaps it is Max's reward to Ace and me for waiting for him past that weekend that he was away and pass half of this weekend when he had to do OT, Max came home on Friday afternoon after his OT and declared that he will bring us someone special and that we should not ask him where....

But I could tell we are heading towards Jumeriah and then when he missed a turn and went to far up, he had to confess then that he was actually bringing us to The Palm at Dubai.. which is a famous hotel by the sea...
Take a look at the beautiful scenery on the way there...

And the houses here al look like resorts.. hahahah:)

Finally found the right way and appraoching The Palm...

It's a super windy day.. just check out the direction the leaves of the tree are all blowing in....

We passed by The Palm and there were so many people who were just hanging around and taking pictures.. many of them are indians... move inside the hotel to the actual people who stay there and they are mostly caucasians...

A nice, clear picture of the palm WITHOUT other distractions.. wahahahah:)

As we were driving, I noticed that the sea iis just on the left side of us.. Max says we will make a u-turn, find a place to park and sit there to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wait for sunset together:)

Ah.. too bad I din bring my camera.. but well, let's not waste any more time and start camwhoring with the iphone! hahahahaha

But the wind is very strong and so Ace is frightened.. frightened that he gets blown away and frightened that his sunglasses will be blown away.... wahahahahahha....

Plus, the very strong wind is creating very big waves and sending sprays of water towards us even though we are quite some distance away from the sea...

But we quickly get Ace to pose for a few pictures anyway:)


And now a family shot.. Max has to FORCE ace to look into the camera... hahaha

Afterward, Ace says "I don't like the sea, I want to go into the car..." And so, while we were enjoying the sun and the breeze and the sea and the sunset, this strange little boy is happy just to stay and play in the car!

I love this photo.. the lighting makes everything so warm and sweet.. you know... like the feeling of LOVE :P


Then Ace had a brilliant idea and asked if I could take a picture of him driving the car...

And so, the sun finally set....

It was really a lovely evening out...

And then, we decided to proceed to a restaurant in The Palm for dinner:)

Celebrating Gong Gong's BD Via Skype

20th Oct is Gong Gong's birthday... it is not the first time we did not get to celebrate together... but we definitely tried to celerbate together as often as we could... interestingly, the one celebration I remember most clearly now is the one we did in hospital when he was recovering from his stroke... that he could come to the garden to cut cake with us was a god given miracle...

And then once Ace was born, all of Gong Gong's birthdays just feel like.. well, Ace's birthday.. hahahaha...

Anyway, this year, is the first time that Ace is not going to celebrate together with Gong Gong.. and perhaps as the chinese say... "Every time got happy occasion you miss your family more.." So I think that Gong Gong was also missing Ace..

Ah Yee watsapp me and asked me if I wanted to skype since it was Gong Gong's birthday, and so we sang a birthday song to him in both english and chinese...

According to Ah Yee, afterward, Gong Gong super good mood liao so he went to open a bottle of red wine to drink... wahahahahahahahaha;)

But Popo was not at home and so they were waiting for her to come home before they cut the cake....

"I want to wait for Popo!" Ace declared and so we left the skype on even though Ace and me have already chatted with Zeng Popo and Gong Gong... so we left the skype on...

And then leh, Ah Yee lah.. watch tv dun watch tv... long time no disturb Ace so buttock very itchy.. and she start to disturb Ace...

"Wah... Ace, this year we bought a big big nice nice cake leh.. so nice.. and Ace cannot eat.. very good.. then Ah Yee can eat big big piece... aiyoh.. Ace so poor thing cannot eat the cake..."

As there are really not many bakaries found here and other than the hazlenut mouse cake, I have yet to find GOOD cakes here in dubai, cakes are like a luxury item for Ace... something he doesnt get to indulge in often even though he loves them... what is more, it is a big big creamy cake.. so he cannot tahan and started to throw a tantrum.... he got really upset and even went into the room to sulk...

So I scolded Ah Yee lah... make life difficult for me... And when Ah Yee found out that Ace is upset because he doesnt get to eat cakes here often, she decided to be nice and told Ace she will keep the cake in the fridge till he comes back to eat it...

I dunno if Ace understands that this is not possible lah.. cos by the time we go back sgp, the cake should already rot in the fridge lor.... but the fact that Ah Yee was willing to share made him happier and Popo came home and promised Ace to buy him a cake when he was back in Singapore... so his mood slowly turned good and he started getting cheeky:)


Then he said he had something to show Ah Yee and he used his macna doodle to draw this....

And later, he also wrote things like, "I want to eat BIG BIG cake,", "I love cake!"

Even when popo was finally free to talk to him.. all he wanted was to show her a drawing he did... and despite the "thing" in the corner not really resembling anything I can think of, Popo really understand her grandson lor.... one look at it and she said, "Oi, I want to talk to you lah.. and all you can think about is food... greedy Ace..." Just how did she realize that is a cake... I also dunno.. hahahahahahah...

Anyway, I also told Ace I will let him eat the chocolate pound cake we have in the fridge (which FYI tastes HORRIBLE to me.. I took one bite and swear I wun waste calories on it liao but Ace says is very yummy) later.

I wish we dun have to celebrate many birthdays via the internet before we can celebrate together again.....

Circuit Training With Ace

Everyday, when my son comes home, I will ask him about his day in school and what he did and what he learnt. Initially, he always tells me that he has forgotten or that he didn't do anything...

I found out that perhaps the things he learnt are soft skills and things he learn from playing (cos he keeps saying his school does not have any lesson.. everyday just play and go playground..) and so he does not equate them to things he has learnt.. even though they have already been input into him...

Anyway, the other day, he came home after a P.E lesson day and so I asked him what he did for PE and he said he did alot of different types of exercise... I asked him to show it to me and he says he needed this music and he started singing the song to me... it was a familiar tune but I couldnt quite put my finger on where I heard it...

So leh, I went online to a voice recognition website where they can tell you what song it is based on you recording the song as you hum it... and after a few tries, we finally found out that it is called Eye of The Tiger... (I think it is used in the Rocky movies)...

And then Ace went on to show me the many exercises that he did... and it turns out that it was just a circuit exercise..wahahahaha... and it was totally hilarious!

Anyway, I took pictures of it but found tat it is more effective to share it on video and so I asked Ace if he could do it again for me to video and he did:) BUT on top of doing the exercise, he also asked kids not to follow him unless they did PE...

Buay tahan lor.. so ZHUAI!

Just to put him in place, his dad showed him an actual circuit exercise and then he realized that his exercise is only small case.. hahahahaha

The Sneakers Family

Finally after 12 days away, Max was back and so we decided to go celebrate at Sino Chai, our fav Taiwanese restaurant in Dubai where Bubble Tea can be found:)

Because we had some time before the restaurant opened at 6.30pm, Ace requested that we go out somewhere.. I tot he would want to go to some far far away big shopping mall but instead, he chose to go to Burjuman (which i had just brought him to just a week before) and he said he would like to bring his swing scooter along... and so we just bring him there lah...

And because Max bought me a pair of lover's sneakers, I decided to wear them that day:) And so Max decided to wear them too... Ace they din have the same design in Ace's size, so he didn't buy a pair for Ace but as Ace also has a pair of his own sneakers, he decided to put them on and wear it together with us:) so that we can be The Sneakers Family.. wahahahaha


Anyway, going to Burjuman was a great idea.. we found this really huge shopping area.. it is like open space but in aircon and with benches by the side right outside the LV shop.... so like Coffee Bean... Ace gets to do his rounds on the swing scooter.. and me and Max get to chill out and talk... and the PLUS point is that it is FREE.. cos we dun need to buy something just to sit down there.. wahahahhaa... we are so going to Burjuman every weekend!:)


Anyway, the topic got to how sunburnt Max is, he decided to pose for me to take a picture.. I feel like I have a NEW ah neh hubby lor... wahahahahaha:)
