I sometimes find that children's conversations are very fascinating...
The other day I was chatting with Ace again.. and he told me that today in school, he discussed with his friend what they will like to invent when they grow up.
One of Ace's friend, R, is very cute one. He is always talking about how rich he is... and always telling stories about why something happened because he is rich... I dun think he meant it in a way to brag.. cos I think he is quite well to do bah... BUT he is always talking about how much money his dad has, what expensive car his mum is driving and once, he even told Ace that he nearly got kidnapped and was chased a long distance because saw that they were in an expensive porshe and knew they were rich!
So this day, this little boy exclaimed that when he grows up, he wants to invent a type of powder that after he applies, will make him smell like a very rich man... hahahahahaha... I asked Ace, "Erm.. what does a rich man smell like?" Ace says he doesnt know... hahahahaha...
Because Ace always tells me that R is popular and well liked because he is rich, I always had to explain that people are usually well liked because they have some positive point. Other than being rich, he must also be kind and friendly. Who likes a rich and snobby kid? And I told Ace that while his friend may say how rich his parents are, it is his parents who are rich.. not him. For them kids to also become rich, they will have to get good at making money when they grow up, then they will be rich too.
It is also fascinating to me because R's parents are some of the nicest and most humble people I know and they will never talk about their money and show off like some of those NEW RICH people I know :) wahahaha... So I wonder where R picked up that it is important to be liked by telling people you are rich if he did not pick that up from his parents.
Anyway, the other day, little rich boy told another classmate that he predicts that his future will be bleak. He will be poor and that he will end up in jail...
I am quite surprised to hear tat as R is usually a good natured boy and I think he is well liked because he is also friendly and kind... but I think this classmate was following R around and annoying him immensely and maybe that is why he was being mean to "push him away".... I told Ace that that is a very mean thing to say...
"Yes, someone told R that he shouldnt say that because it is mean.."
I told Ace that as both their friends, it is also his duty to inform R that this is mean and ask him to stop, even if he likes R and also does not like the other boy to follow them. It is not nice to tell someone they will end up in jail or that they will end up poor. We always have to choose our words carefully because what we hear is what we see in our minds and what we will become...
Just that like this short movie I watched called Painting The Future... where a little girl teaches a good lesson about how you can paint your future because everything you say, the molecules in your body will move according to it to make it happen....
Anyway, I think children just sometimes say the darnest things :)

Would You Tell Your 8 Year Old You Have Been To A Strip Club?
The other day, while we were chatting with Ace, he told me something very surprising...
Ace told me that his classmate, X, told him that X's dad told X that he went to a strip club. I thought I misunderstood and asked Ace to repeat and he repeated the same thing. I thought maybe X was just saying it... and so I asked Ace if he knew what a strip club is.
"Yes I know, X told me... he says that a strip club is a place where women will take off their clothes and after they take off all their clothes, the men will put their fingers into the women's vagina..."
Both me and Max were in shock when we heard that.. it was lucky that we were in a car.. and me and Max were sitting in front and Ace could not see our expressions! I was quite sure this is not true lor.. come on, will you tell your 8 year old you have been to a strip club???
I told Ace this is not really an appropriate topic for children who are 8 years old and I wondered aloud whether X's dad will really tell him that as it is very much age inappropriate!
Ace gave an affirmative and insisted that X's dad did tell X that.. and he added that X now says that he wants to go to a strip club when he grows up. "He says he wants to go to a strip club to find a girlfriend and get married."
I told Ace that is not exactly a place that one will go to look for a wife leh. Ace asked me why and I was stumped for a moment. Wah lau, how to explain why.... simply easier to say "Because I said so" wahahahaha :)
I explained to Ace that women who work in strip clubs could have chosen other jobs but they chose a job that requires them to sell their body for others to see... even their private parts. Private parts are private and should be kept private. You shouldnt like show it to others because they pay money to do so and sell your body like an object. So that is not a good place to find wives.
I told Ace I am concerned and want to tell his teacher because this shouldnt be appropriate discussion among boys their age. Ace told me that he will handle it and he will explain to X why that is not a good place to find wives.
"I really don't understand why X's dad will say that. I think better to tell Ms R.." I told Ace. I think Ace felt that if that were to happen, he will be betraying his friend and so he insisted that he can handle it and added that X's dad told X that to prevent X from going to a strip club.
"But, quite obviously, the opposite has happened.." I reminded Ace. But I told him I respect his decision. If he wants me to keep this to myself. I will. And so I did not tell the teacher and decided just to continue to monitor the situation. I know a few of the other boys are also involved in the conversation.. I just wonder how many of them will have a chance to talk to their parents about that.
The next day, Ace told me that he has already spoken to X and explained to him what I explained to Ace. X says he no longer wants to go to a strip club.
But I think X is more sexually developed than the other boys. Cos a few days later, Ace came home and told me that today, they started talking about dating. Most of the other boys said they had girlfriend and were dating someone... (Ace says he has someone he likes but he is not dating. Cos he likes T but not in a romantic way anymore.. wahahaha)
And X told them that he is dating so and so.. one day, he went to fetch the girl off for a date and when he went to her bedroom, she was in the room naked! X claims he saw EVERYTHING!
I told Ace that could not be true simply because someone X's age will likely not be allowed to go on dates.. much less go to the girl's room while she is not dressed.
All in all, I named a few instances where X was always dua pao xian and told Ace to always take the stories that X tells with a pinch of salt. Dun have to go say, "You are lying!" but just remember he has the habit of being dua pao xian.. wahahahah...
But I am a little concerned and worried for X:
Seems like SEX is a hot topic among these boys lately.. cos some time after that, Ace talked to me again and told me that the boys were talking about sexual intercourse again.
"Aiyoh, Ace, that is not age appropriate topic for 8 year old leh.." I told him. Ace says that is what he tells the other boys and they insisted that it is.. wahahahaha...
So I asked him how they started talking about this.. he says it started because they were all talking about the future they were going to have. They talked about how they will finish school.. and they will get good jobs... and then they will find a good girl to marry.. after that, they will have sexual intercourse because they want to have children! Hilarious! wahahahahaha....
I told Ace that while it is true that you need to have sexual intercourse to have children, adults dun really talk about our future like tat:) wahahahaha... I told him the next time his friends have more discussions about sex, maybe he can do what he do best-- CHANGE TOPIC!:) wahahahahaha.... so that they can talk about more 8 year old sort of stuff like toys and games.
Next day, Ace said to me, "I did it, mummy! I changed topic!" And interestingly, the boys no longer talked about sexual intercourse after that.. hahahahahaha...
Children nowadays really mature much faster than we did lor!

Ace's First Sports Day In Horizon School
It may sound amazing but after 2.5 years in Horizon School, Ace has NEVER taken part in any of the Sports Days!
In his first year in Dubai, he was sick on the day of the Sports Day and did not go to school.
Last year, his sports day happened during the period we went back to celebrate Chinese New Year and so he did not take part.
This year, he finally gets a chance to take part and I am really excited :)
Parents were invited to watch but not allowed to interfere. We arrived early in school and the field was all set out. Apparently, last year, the sports day took a whole day and everyone.. children, teachers and parents were darn tired! So this year, their new PE teacher revamped the system. The children will be divided into groups and then there are i think 8 stations in total... and different groups do the activities at the various station in each 10 minute time slot. Sort of like playing rounders :)
The children will be from different houses and all the points are awarded according to placement and there will only be a house champion at the end:)
The children queuing and getting ready for their sports day!
Meanwhile, Papa Chua stand there and bai pose.... I told him his pose looks like Jung Rok in the Korean Drama that we watched called Sheng Shi De Pin De.. and he was very offended because Jung Rok is very uncool in his eyes.. wahahahaha :)
The children were all dressed the same.. it was so difficult to find Ace among the sea of kids... I finally figured that I just have to search for this teacher as she is in charge of their group:)
That is Ace wearing his school hat. Max says must take picture.. cos with the hat hor, he looks extra like me.. cos I have a similar hairstyle now:) wahahahaha...
The first event of the day is a race. Everyone will get to race in the 100 meter dash.. People who are not up to race yet will stand by the side to cheer:)
Ace cheering for his friends...
And then it was time for Ace to race!
And to my surprise, Ace came in first!
Proud parents taking a photo to show our happy faces... (But Papa Max still trying to act cool.. wahahahah)
Then they had to queue up in their own designated groups to start the other events proper..
Ace's team is assigned to tug of war.... Apparently, they will do the event and the first results will be taken down. But since they had time, most of the time, they did each event a few times:)
Ace's team won the first round...
Second round, Ace chut pattern, I was thinking how are they going to win if Ace is doing this and not using his body weight at all!? But they still win.. hahahaha...
And then leh, they changed side to do it again.. this time round.. Ace was put right in front. I was thinking xiao liao.. Ace doesnt seem to be very strong.. and doesnt know to lean back.. and they put him in front.. sure gone case one.. wahahaha:) and true enough.. lost lor... lucky dun need to take down results at that round...
Doing it a few more times for fun..
Ace looks like he going to toilet!:) wahahah..
Up next is the 400 meters run. I thought that the recent standchart run will give Ace some confidence. In the end, I saw him taking his own sweet time to run.. but leh, at least he did not stop lah.. he just like effortlessly.. BUT slowly run 400 m without stopping.. wahahaha...
I think he was one of the last few to finish the run..
Finish running still can break somemore!:)
There is also one rest station and that is his group at the rest station..
My son cannot give up any chance to yak.. and that, I think is his downfall..
Chat chat chat liao.. his sim hong hong liao.. his attention is now everywhere...
By the time for his next event, which was the hurdles, when the event started, he havent noticed or realized yet! Only started running after a few seconds... so he was last lor:) wahahaha...
He told me the night before that when he tried to do the hurdles the first time, someone laughed at him and said he was slow because he hooked his leg and tripped over the hurdle. The PE teacher scolded the person who said that and he said why this person was not punished cos the last time he had lack of sportsmanship and called someone slow, he was sent to the principle's office. I told him different teacher different standard mah...
I also explained to him that everyone who start to try something for the first time may not do it very well. For him as a kinesthetic learner, he has to learn by doing. So after he do first time liao.. he knows wat to improve and he will get better. He told me after that he is very good at it already... so I told him that is good lor..
Managed to catch him jumping over the hurdle in the second run:) Looks like he did improve!:)
The parents are all circling on the circumference of the field and you have to move to where your child is. For some unknown reason.. why Ace was in the right bottom corner of the field, his father was posing at the other diagonal end!?:P wahahahahahahahaha.. dunno he is come here to see his son or just to see see look look...
Come on, Ace Chua.. CHEONG AH!!!!!
Put so many close up photos for the sake of his FANS aka godmas and grandma:) hahahah
Next is javelin.. they throw toy one...
Okie.. I dunno how he will fare but at least will not "soo sei" cos his pose like very pro and very nice like that..
Not bad leh.. pose very nice, results also very nice. Came in first this time...
Round two and three pose still very swee:)
Ace is shocked that it landed so near him!:) wahahahha
Next station is throwing the ball into the hoop. Mr No Ball Sense is not expected to do well in this..
I am just happy to see him try his best:)
Wahahaha.. hands and legs everywhere!:) Max says when he was young, he had bad ball sense.. he trained up when he was in secondary school.. no wonder lah.. me also no ball sense also is train one... no wonder Ace also no ball sense! :) hahaha.. But Max's fren who is a PE teacher says Ace is very tall and his height will be good for certain sports.. if he gets a chance to meet a good coach to train him.. he can still do well in sports:) wow.. tat is very encouraging to hear leh :)
I guess it will be some time before he can become Guan Lan Gao Shou/ Slam Dunk:) haha..
After that comes the obstacle course...
Ace had not much problem in the first few 3 obstacles..
But he was stuck in the net for a long long time.. I think cos he didnt crawl close enough to the ground..
Looking shagged after round 1 but willing to try again:)
Resting after he is done..
I took picture of this sports team leader... because she is in charge of this station. Every time a new set of people are competing (each set is only 4 pax. There are probably 50 children in the Year 3 Year 4 sports day that day), she herself will have to go through ALL THE OBSTACLES as demo.. at the end she still energetically jump up and clap excitedly! I really salute her! hahahaha
Last station is the shot put station...
And then they rounded off by gettting all the people who were first in the first race to race again..
Ace lost out to the much faster runners...
But I think most impt is he enjoy lor:)
Then there was a mummies race:)
And a Daddies Race which Max took part.. hahaha
The children asked for a teachers race but the PE teacher said he will surely win it and denied them of the chance to watch their teachers race.. hahahah
Prize giving! Ace belongs to SAFA house and they came in 4th...
Everyone gets a cert for completing and competing. Ace says his friend told him that everyone got a medal last year and he is a little disappointed that this time it is just a cert. But he is still happy to have completed the sports day.. and we are happy too!:)
