Ace Tries To Feed Himself

Ace is starting to form the relationships between things in his mind. When he sees a comb, he puts it near his hair. Give him a cap and he tries to put it on YOUR HEAD (not his.. hahaha).. A toothbrush is for brushing teeth and a cup for pouring and drinking water...

We discovered this some time ago when he by chance found the plate and spoon that was left on the coffee table the other day and this is what happened.. ;)

If you look carefully, you will find that he even remembers to scoop the food from the plate..

So cute right?:)

Signs That Your Baby Is Bored

How do you know when Ace is bored?

You know he is bored when he gives you this sort of expression...

You also know that he is bored when he:
- keep making alot of noisy noises and refuse to stay in the playpen..
- when he keeps taking his shoes and bringing them to you and asking you to bring him out
- when he keeps crying
- when he keeps tearing paper
- when he lies down inside his pen and starts playing with his toes
- when he goes to the corner of the playpen and stares at you with this expression...
It is not a good thing that he is bored. But there are not many toys in Waipo's house and I am running out of ideas about what to do when Ace is bored. Any ideas anyone?

Daddy Lookalike

The other day, Uncle Alvin Woon came to visit Daddy and collect the lucky draw slip for the insurance...

When he saw Ace, he said, "Wah, look exactly like his father leh..."

At that moment, I suddenly realized that Ace is really a splitting image of his dad.. hahaha.. feels so strange to see a mini max and call him our son.. hahaha... when all along max is like my pillar of strength..

Anyway, I went through my photos and found this.. haha...

Look alike boh?

Ganma Upgrade

Out of Ace's many ganmas...

Megan ganma is the one who loves to buy him clothes and buys him the most clothes..

Karen ganma is the one who always teaches him silly stunts like how to be like tarzan (Karen beware, he picks things up real fast now..)...

Seok Ling ganma is the one who hugs and carries Ace most.. I think she is Ace's favourite lam lok...

And I think Evon ganma is one of those who makes the most effort.. cos she lives far far away in Malaysia, Kelantan/KL.

During Ace's birthday celebration, Max Papa said that poor Ace ganmas dun visit him often and say that they are mostly 2 month or 6 month ganmas. With an exception of Seok Ling ganma who sees him often in office, the rest really dun get to meet him him...

And Evon ganma I must say is a good ganma. She really put to heart what Max said and tried hard to upgrade herself to one month ganma. She tries to come to SG once a month and visit Ace when she can.

And whenever she is here, she will spend half a day with Ace and teach him how to draw, talk to him, feed him, play with him...

I think Ace also can sense who really cares for him.. cos now that he is grown up, he is a little more discerning when it comes to grown ups who try to carry him and get close to him. While he is ok with people carrying him, he very seldom will go and knock head (his version of kissing) with them or keep smiling when he sees them..

And he was happy to do that with Evon... and that made Evon Ganma really happy.

Anyway, Evon ganma tried to visit him last month but she forgot to bring her passport and only realized it when she reached city square.. sigh.. but this month she will be here again.. must train Ace to do some stunts to surprise her..

HA HA HA HA HA!

Have you ever watched Sesame Street before?

If you have, then you would probably know the character called The Count. The Count is a purple puppet who looks like Count Dracula and loves to count.

Daddy says that Ace has been watching too much TV and says that I should take out his flash cards to teach him some stuff. So I took out his number flashcards, and then decided to imitate the count to teach him his numbers.

I took out the number ONE and told him, "One! One Doll! Hahahaha…"

And then I passed him the flashcard for ONE and then I took out number TWO and told him "Two! Two cars! Hahahaha..." and I took the TWO card to exchange it for the ONE card.

This went on till I reached the number 20. Wah.. very tiring leh. But Ace enjoyed it so much and was counting along with me (he happily shouted out SIX very clearly) and so I decided to do it again. This time round from 20 till 1.

The next day, Ace walked to the room and took the cards and passed them to Daddy and me when I woke up.

So Daddy took over and did the counting instead. Ace looked so happy with the cards and would walk around with a happy smile on his face.

And midway through the counting, I had to go downstairs to deliver something to someone.

When I came back home again, Daddy told me that he has counted 1-20 about three times before Ace would tire of it..

"Very tiring to hahaha hor?" I asked Daddy and Daddy agreed.

But alas, Ace did not pick up how to count. Instead, he learnt a new trick.. He would take the flash card and go, "Hahahaha..." And it is really amusing to watch him do that. I was hahaha-ing in my sleep when I thought about him doing that!

Keep All Foods Away From Ace!

THIS IS A WARNING! KEEP ALL FOODS AWAY FROM ACE CHUA YEN FENG. IF HE FINISHES ALL YOUR FOOD, DUN COME AND BLAME ME!

The other day, we put Ace in the pen and then I happily went online to check my emails and daddy happily sat in the living room to read his book.

Initially, Ace was making some noise.. after a while he became really quiet and me and Daddy were happily engrossed in what we were doing.

Suddenly, Daddy called out to me, "Mama, I think he opened that packet of nuts!"

Previously, he was holding on to a packet of nuts and we thought that since he did not know how to open it, we would let him hold on to it since he looks so happy while he is holding on to it.

I ran outside and looked into the playpen and this is what I saw...
Apparently, he managed to open that packet of nuts by himself! Sigh.. no wonder he turned so quiet suddenly!

And then, his mouth was so full of nuts that he had to chew for like 15 minutes before he finished chewing and swallowing EVERYTHING!
For your info, he opened a pack of Zhi Ma Hu and started building 'sand castles' with it. SO, I repeat my warning.. KEEP ALL FOODS AWAY FROM ACE CHUA! :)

Bubbles! WAH!!!

Somehow, bubbles always give people that happy feel. Whenever I see bubbles, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Ace has never seen bubbles before. So the other day, at Ah Huay's wedding, I brought back some of the left over props tat were used for making bubbles during her march in...

On whim and fancy, I decided to take them out and blow some bubbles for Ace.

"Wah!!!!" Ace exclaimed the moment he saw the bubbles. He was so fascinated and kept chasing after them and watching them pop one after another. And he kept screaming with delight.

"Ahh...." "Wah..." he exclaimed again and again.. and he laughed and giggled and kept running after them..

Which makes me wonder why bubbles give people such a happy feeling? Is it because they are in the perfect circular shape? Is it their colourful surface? Or is it just the fact that they do not last.

What makes me most intrigued is how in the world do babies associate such happy feelings to it?

Anyone has any opinions?

Afraid of Noise

It was Waigong's birthday again. Seemed like yesterday when we celebrated Waigong's Birthday...

Anyway, it was a happy occasion till we all started cheering and clapping for Waigong to blow the bubbles. All of a sudden, Ace started to cry..

It seems that Ace hasn't really gotten over his fear for loud noises. Wat a damper..

But food saves the day again... cos the promise of a cake is enough to make him smile again...

Ace ah Ace, next year must smile and take nice photo with waigong ok? Waigong everyday take such good care of us.. make juice for us to drink.. cook lunch and dinner for us, change your pangsai and bath you (until his whole body wet), rock you to sleep, play with you and sayang you.. you must remember to be fillial to waigong and always tell him that you love him ok?

Sunglasses

Long long time ago.. in the eastern part of singapore, there lived a little girl who loved to collect Mac Donalds Toys. She would eat mac donalds happy meals just to collect those little toys and she would keep them for souveneir… Even when she was in her teens, she would still collect those toys…

Many many years later, her collection came to good use because her son can now play with her toys.

And it was because of this collection that the little girl.. now a little woman, found in her collection a cute sunglass..

She tried to get her son to wear it and model it for photo but he kept taking it out and pulling out the sides that holds the ears. Luckily it can be fixed back...

So she made a mental note to NEVER let him have HER sunglasses in case he decides to do the same thing to a real pair of sunglasses.

THE END.

Pai Kiah

Ace was running around and sweating loads the other day.

Daddy then took the chance to style his hair for him.

“Nice or not?” Daddy asked me after he styled the punk style.

“Okie okie.. wait huh, I go get camera to take picture..” and when I came back, I asked Ace to look at my camera and pose..

Maybe Ace is a born model.. he seems to know what look goes best with what kind of look and so he did THIS:

But I dun like my son to look like a pai kia.. so I asked him to smile. To help him along, Daddy tickled him a little on his neck and this is how he looks like after he smiled..

What a happy, cute, handsome little boy!

How To Get Ace To Kiss You

Yes, there is no doubt that Ace loves children and is quite a cassanova when it comes to little girls..

But Ace is not really a very affectionate baby when he sees adults...

If you ask him to hug you.. he will think about it for a while. If he is in good mood, he will, if not.. he will just smile at you...

If you ask him to kiss you, usually, he just uses his head to knock onto your head. That is like his version of kissing...

So Daddy decided to come up with an ingenious way to make Ace "KISS" him.. aww... so sweet.... (the fruit I mean.. ) Hahaha..

The Many Faces Of Crying Ace

I mentioned awhile back that Ace has taken to screaming and crying for his own way.

Just for your amusement (especially aunty power since she likes his M shaped mouth), here are some pics of him crying...

PS: Ace boy, this is how you look like when you cry okay.. VERY UGLY. Mummy likes it better when you giggle and laugh. If you talk to me properly and do your proper signs, I will still understand you and give you what you want.

An Affinity With Boxes

Ace loves boxes.

He loves them in all shapes and sizes.

If it is a small box, like the one that was used to deliver Daddy's Amazon book orders, he would put his toys in, put his shoes in, put lots of things in and then take them out again. Put them in, take them out, put them in, take them out...

It is a amazing and amusing to find that just a simple box can keep him occupied for a good half an hour.

But if it were a big one.. like the one that Waipo is using to make props for her school concert, he would try to put his whole body in.

He would insist on going inside and sitting inside.. and then after a while, he would get tired of it and try to come out again.

His favourite though, I suspect, are those biscuit and cereal boxes. These little things usually dun have a good ending.. they are just torn and shredded into pieces when they reach Ace's hands.

He is sick of that Amazon box now and has taken to tearing out the scotch tape that keeps it in shape. I suspect he will very soon dismantle the whole box and tear it into shreds....

Everything Also Nen Nen

In case you didn't know, "Nen nen" means 'milk' in baby language.

Somehow, Ace seems to have gone backwards in his language development and his communication skills.

In the past, he would happily do the MILK sign for milk and the MORE sign for more food. He would call Mummy when I asked him to call me or would at least do so when he wanted milk or wanted me to carry him. He would also call Daddy when he wanted Daddy to carry him or play with him.

Suddenly, EVERYTHING BECAME NEN NEN TO HIM!

He stopped calling us. Stopped doing the signs and stopped saying anything else except nen nen.

If he wants more food, "Nen, Nen.."

Ask him to call mummy, "Nen, Nen.."

Ask him to call daddy, "Nen, Nen, nen, nen.."

But he sees Ah Yee, he happily calls, "Yeee!" when he sees her.

Grrr....

Very angry...

The other day, Daddy asked him to call him. "Call me and I feed you..."

Instead of saying Nen Nen, Ace said, "Bu yao!" (I don't want) and then continued to Nen Nen Nen...

Wah lau, got energy and can put effort to say Nen nen and Bu Yao also dun want to call us.. so difficult meh??

Daddy says "(and we quote from My Lovely Samsoon) give birth to one pumpkin at least can cook soup to drink.. sigh..."

Monkey See, Monkey Do

The other day, Daddy had to go out to meet people and so after many days of not shaving, he decided to shave.

"Dear, pass me my shaver please..." and so I passed Daddy his shaver...

Before I knew it, Ace was staring at Daddy as he shaved and suddenly, he picked up his orange fake Sony Ericsson phone and started 'shaving' like Daddy! We laughed so hard that there were tears in our eyes...

Next up, Waipo bought Ace a bolster because he keeps wanting to use her big bolster. Sometimes when he is agitated, we just put the bolster with him in the play pen and then he would ride on the bolster like a horse and entertain himself.

But suddenly, we saw him lie on the bolster, his legs raised high in the air.... We looked beside the playpen and there was Waigong.. in that exact same position that he was! Gosh! Dunno whether to laugh or cry.

Yesterday, Waipo was talking on the phone and then Ace found a black pen, managed to take the cap off and started drawing on his own face. Luckily Zeng Popo saw him and asked him to stop. "If not, he would have drawn all over his face!" she said.

I kept thinking why he would associate a pen with the face and then I realized that he always watches me when I make up. I would use a eye brow pencil to draw my eye brows. Maybe he is trying to draw his eye brows too.. hahahaha...
