Ace IS The Thor!

Most shopping malls in Dubai have got FB pages and since we visit them so often, I signed up for their pages just to get informed of their many family friendly activities that I think Ace might like..

The other day, I found out over FB that Hamley's is going to have a Avengers Meet And Greet.. and if you come dressed as your favourite hero and they like your outfit, you might stand a chance to win some Avenger toys.. I thought Ace might enjoy that as i was thinking there might be some performance or wat as well... so I forwarded the info to Max...

Max had soccer that day and he usually ends at 7.30pm and if he bathes fast and we drive fast, we could reach there  slightly late for the 8pm show...

Since we are going, I started racking my head for how to make the outfit.. I looked at the three heros featured and figured it would best to go with Thor cos by some coincidence, when Ace asked me to point to any item in his engineering set catalogue to make, I just pointed to the hammer and tat hammer has been sitting around for a long time...

I also think it is difficult to paint the whole of Ace green or to have shiny metalic bits on him in red and gold.. so Thor was my very best bet.. I went online to google for some photos and decided that I needed like a black plastic bag that I found.. then I saw this red plastic bag at home and decided that that will be the cape.. In the online photos, Thor had some shiny circular discs on his costume.. I had a discussion with Ace about how to recreate that and he suggested using glitter.. but we only had very little silver glitter and it din seem shiny enough and seemed like alot of work too...

In the end, I suggested using my pi pa gao sweet containers and Ace agreed...

That is us waiting for Max at his soccer game.. just in case, i also got Ace to wear his Iron Man shirt:) He made this crown with paper and staples and paper and scissors by himself..

Anyway, we were all kan cheong and in the car and as made us more kan cheong with his non stop "Are we there yet?" hahaha.. heng Max Schumacher drive very fast and we reached at 8.15 finally...

Alas, we were a little disappointed, the meet and greet was just Hulk, Iron Man and Thor standing there posing for photos... so you just queue up and get your photo done.. Ace queued up and everything was over and done with within 5 minutes!

This is our home made outfit.. cool or not? The plastic bag was a little big so I taped the extra bits together  at the back with a scotchtape:) I tot it looked quite cool!:) hahaha. quite proud of myself and my ingenuity:) I think Ace liked the outfit too:)

There is my son with the super heroes:) He just short of a hat.. but tat one is too much work to make lah...

When Ace got off stage, Thor turned around and told us, "I love his costume, it is my very favorite for the whole of today!" I am glad Thor himself appreciates it!:)

After that, Ace ran off to play with bubbles for another 15 minutes...

Meanwhile, the very bored Max says THIS is how Thor should pose... Maybe I should make a bigger outfit for Max to wear and take part in this meet and greet? :) sure win!;) wahahahaha

PS: But they haven't announced the winner yet.. I hope Ace wins:)

PPS: The results for the contest is out.. Ace didn't win.. all the winners are much younger kids (they look like they are 4 or 5) and they are all in STORE BOUGHT COSTUMES. But still, we take comfort in Thor saying tat he loves our outfit most:) hehehe:)
