Went out along the main street to try to look for a place to eat lunch since it was 2 plus and we suddenly felt really hungry!:)
Saw a place that served Testi Kebab.. vegeterian too!:) So we decided to try lah...
It turned out to be the MOST EXPENSIVE MEAL in our whole trip!
Ace staring at the bread makers..
Right beside the window, there are some people making bread.. lots of tourists gawking at the bread makers... very good marketing if you ask me...
We saw someone else order Testi Kebab and were excited for our orders to come:)
Max was just happy to relax with a beer..
They very clever leh.. actually we ordered only ONE side dish.. they bring us so many to choose and end up we ordered another two more just like tat!
Ace eating bread and hummus..
Spinach bread..
Brinjals ordered by Max.. can you imagine someone who DOES NOT eat brinjals is now a brinjal lover?:P wahahaha
Couscous... Max says he likes leh.. ask me to learn to make..
Hummus..
Our testi kebab is here!
Basically, it is this vase like container.. and they will put all the ingredients inside and use a dough to cover the top..... and then hor, they put inside oven to hit up.. and then they wil take out and put in this fire pit and then they will bring to your table...
Notice that there is a groove there? Well, they will use two spoons to KIAP the vase where the groove is and then use a knife to hit on it.... all around... waiting for somewhere to crack...
Here is a video of how the knocking is being done...
Once there is a crack somewhere, they will locate the crack and then put the knife at the groove nearest to the crack and then knock again on the knife and the whole top will usually come off!
So it is really like a stew.. I read that it keep the natural juices of the food because they cook the food without ever reaching boiling point...
They spread some mashed potato and serve it on top of the mash together with some salad and rice... I am thinking.. that I can easily do the same using my Happy Call Pan:) wahahahaha
But I must say that it really tasted quite nice and I finished it even though I was quite full by then..
Max also ordered hot plat mushrooms which seems to me very similar to the testi kebab... whahaah
Mr Ace geh kiang go and make his own way of eating bu stuffing all the kebab stuff into the bread.. eat till he very chuan cos bread is very filling...
Our waiter tried to make food art using the broken pieces of the testi kebab container:) wahaha
Time to go... I noticed that the bread makers have changed places.. it was interesting how when the older woman was facing the window, there were just alot of people who gawked.. the moment the younger and prettier one was facing the window, everyone did not just gawk but also took out their cameras to take photos!
