Istanbul Trip Part 7: Tulips Galore At Gülhane Park

Before I went to Istanbul, someone told me that during April, there is this HUGE park filled with Tulips... so I was determined to go... turns out that, there are quite a few big parks in Istanbul itself and actually, all parks have tulips! hahaha..

Just since we saw this park right next to the Topkapi Palace, we felt we just had to go there and take pics and enjoy the park! Such beautiful flowers, such great, cold weather!

It is only after I got back to Dubai that I tried to find out about this park.. wahahaha..

The park we visited is called the Gülhane Park (Turkish: Gülhane Parkı, "Rosehouse Park"; from Persian: گلخانه Gulkhāna, "house of flowers"). It is a historical urban park in the Eminönü district of Istanbul, Turkey; it is located adjacent to and on the grounds of the Topkapı Palace. The south entrance of the park sports one of the larger gates of the palace. It is the oldest and one of the most expansive public parks in Istanbul.

Apparently, they used to have rides, coffeeshops and even a mini zoo in the past. Eventually they removed all these and this is how the park looked like in the 1800s...

I am glad the took away all these distractions because I love the park the way it is :)

Love the path that has two rows of sycamore trees by the side.. such a pretty view...

When you walk into the park, you can actually smell the flowers!

Ace trying to do a GRASS ANGEL to show how happy and relaxing this park makes him feel.. wahahaha

So many different types of birds here.. wonder where they are from.. these look like seagulls.. could be from the sea...

Max went crazy taking photos of all his favourite- FLOWERS!

One things about the gardeners here.. they will plant a particular colour tulip.. and then miss.. wahahahah.. so always see among one colour.. suddenly got another colour.. and they just let it be and dun snip it or remove it also.. wahahaha.. boh QC one!

Saw an interesting flower.. the rest of this whole bush is all red flowers.. ONLY THIS FLOWER is white and red.. dunno why..

The hardworking men who made this beautiful garden possible.. thank you so much!

We later realize why there are so many birds here... check out all the nests in the trees!

This flower has very strong smell. I realized tat our hotel room air freshener is this smell too.. wonder wat flower this is though..

These tulips almost going to wither I think... considered in full bloom? I think also have their beauty.. dun you think?

Another hardworking man watering the plants...

Max very bad.. took this photo make it look like this man has powerful pee.. hahaahaha.. Ace of course finds this a good idea and giggled non stop!

Ace says this part of the tree is peeling and helped the tree peel it off...

Underneath the bark though, we found lots of... bugs..

I see this words everywhere.. But I have no idea what it means.. Now using google translate I can tell you that it means, "Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality" as the park is now open to public and under govern of the Municipality:)

Max says this colour very special..

Saw a large tree with decorations.. I think though it is bird bath or bird house of some sort to attract birds...

Ace and the Turkish Flag.. Me and Max were discussing this.. actually almost everywhere we go about in Istanbul, we see the Turkish Flag flying in the wind.. and it looks really majestic and nice!

We wonder why this is not set up in Singapore? Even in Dubai, we have this roundabout called the Flag Roundabout because there is this really huge flag pole with a flag of UAE! Looks very nice lor! But maybe cos it rains often in Singapore bah... I would think the flag looks nice in the wind but may not dry easy with frequent rains...

Ah Xiong, Fake Xiong and Xiao Xiong:) wahahahha

Ace found a tulip on the floor.. he says he wants to make dried flowers with it and wanted to bring it back to dubai..

Ace was so happy to see an aeroplane playground! But as we were rushing off to the Grand Bazaar, only gave him 10 min to play in the playground..

The big kid playing with the little kid..

Wah lau, so big liao still try to squeeze into a ginna swing....

Ace and his funny monkey faces..

Walked back to the city main street and Max says the flowers very nice today.. take another pic before we try to find our way to the Grand Bazaar...
