Our little sandy Forrestor is fast approaching the "problematic age" and is starting to show a little bit of wear and tear here and there... and so Max was thinking of "upgrading" to another car and so we went car viewing every now and then when we are free...
Ace always declares tat the car viewings are BORING (read: no toys, no children, no playground, no books) but still seem to enjoy them anyway..
Long time back, I learnt about human behavriourial sciences from one of my mentors and he says that people fall into two categories, they either chase after something to be happy or avoid something to avoid pain...
We also learnt some quick test to roughly know what sort of person a person might be. One of them is this test...
Now if money is not an issue, what sort of car will you buy?
Based on the type and model of the car and why they choose it, you can sort of tell what are the characteristics of a person. For example, a person who is averse to taking too much risks and prefer stability will go for a normal, stable sedan car... a person who is a pursuer who likes to chase after things and chase after results will tend to like a sports car...usually RED:) If the person happens to be a man and likes YELLOW sports car... confirm guarantee chop stamp he listens to women one.. so you want to persuade him to do anything, send a woman to talk to him!:) And if a person likes a interesting car like a mini cooper because it is rare or because not many people have it, then they are mismatcher.. want to get them to do something... cannot say direct one.. cos if you tell them to go left, they are sure to turn right!:) (mummies, learning this will help you negotiate and persuade your children to do things they may not want to do :))
Anyway, I think my son is a pursuer.. but leh, maybe only take calculated risk type because he has been forever talking about buying RED SPORTS car or RED FERRARI... BUT has been saying since going too fast is dangerous, he will buy to keep..
Still, everytime we are in a showroom, he automatically gravitate towards the sports car in sight and will ask me to take picture of him and the sports car...
That is him and the Ford sports car...
Somehow he just knows which are the sporty models even if they are not open top convertible.. he wants to take photo with this Peugeot sports car when we went there the other day...
He pose like tat by himself hor.. I din ask him to... this one is another Peugeot sports car...
And after he ran out of sports cars to take pictures with.. he entertained himself with the tv screen which is also a e brochure of all the cars there..
Then we went to test drive the cars and one of the cars we test drove had a sun screen right at the top.. so you can see the sky.. Ace sat inside and just had this smile on his face throughout...
I think if you asked him what he likes about the car, the only thing he can name is the sunroof:) wahahha
Tadah.. Max driving with the sunroof:)
The other day, we went to Honda to take a look but couldnt see anything we liked and since Volvo was right next to it, we decided to go and see see look look lah...
While we were browsing around, Ace quietly climbed into the sports car and cried out, "Mummy, see, I am driving a sports car!"
When I walked nearer to take photo, he very proudly exclaimed to me, "See, my legs can reach the paddle below. "
His "lao ban" pose...
Anyway, we found out that when buying cars in dubai, you can ask for the Manager's car... they get to change cars once every few mths and because they sometimes stay very close to their workplace, the mileage is very low.. so when they resell the car, they resell at a very good price...
While at Volvo, we were offered a chance to test drive the Volvo S60... and offered a 20% discount on that particular manager's car that was registered in May.. and only had a 3500 mileage.. plus, it was very comfy, leather seat and came with full sports kit...
As there was another person also keen to buy the car going to test drive the car the next day at noon, we made an appointment to try the car at 9am in the morning and finally, we found a car tat all three of us agreed was good.
Max was happy that it has good engine, nice engine sound, good driver handling and looks good.. I was happy that it is super comfy and feels safe (the Peugeot we tested made me feel like our car is flying) and wah lau, it is a volvo leh.. Ace is just happy tat the seats are comfy and that we tell him a Volvo is considered a branded car...
Even more happy is that, this car is selling for S$190,000 in Singapore and we bought it at something like a little less than $36K sing...
The only snag is that Ace cannot pronounce VOLVO and kept calling the car "VOL-VO-LO"... wahahahhaa.. only after like 10 tries did he get it correct!:)
So I guess it is time to say goodbye to our trusty sandy Subaru Forrestor...
And hello to the S60....
BUT leh, now is sedan, cannot go over kerb to change lane liao:) wahahahahahhahah
I made Max promise me not to drink and drive when he changes into this car.. cos i think the driver handling is so good and it is so stable that you dun really feel the speed you are going inside the car... we agree it is very dangerous to drive this car while not so sober...
Anyway, like the true blue hao lian teochew he is, Ace promptly went to school the next day and announced to the whole world that we are getting a volvo..
PS: Our sales rep told us that there is a two day period where we will have to go carless because we wont get our car yet and will have to send our old car for trade in.. so she will arrange for a replacement car for us.. perhaps a CX90?:P
