China Trip Pt 20: Heading for Shanghai and Dubai

Lucky for us, we managed to get a late check out.. so once we are back in our hotel, we started packing up..

Ace did not want to give up any chance of getting his watch back and so he made a note to leave to the people who work there so that they could post his watch to him if they found it...
I must say he is quite determined to get his watch back.. but too bad.. till now no news of the watch. I think we just have to get a new watch:S

I then discovered this really interesting brochure tat our hotel gave to us.. the english translation is atrotious.. dun even understand wat the F they are talking about if I cant read Chinese!

The title "美容美发中心" Means beauty and hair salon.. But the translation in english is "Centre in the US of the Beauty.." Cos hor, google automatically translates the word "美" into US!

And also "服务项目" which means 'services available' is translated to "I follow eye.." What the hell is "I follow eye"??? tamade, who can read?

The japanese translation also equally atrocious.. thank goodness most of their clients are mainland chinese..

After he prepared his note, Ace said he was hungry so I asked him to eat an apple...

And tat is Ace doing his last TV time in the hotel room.. ahahaha:)

But we were still a little early so we hang out at the hotel lounge.. Ace says this chair looks like a king's throne.. so he asked me to take picture of him on the chair... cos he is KING ACE..

We were afraid he will be hungry so we bought some juice and a cake for him to eat.. the box they sent the cake in is cute.. it says, "Happiness is wanting what you already have.." Not easy to do that, my friend.. cos human beings always want what they don't already have...

The mango soda was so so... But Max says the ice coffee FAIL!

And once and again, Ace took out his magic ruler and did MAGIC with it!

We were really lucky lor.. we were told that the latest bus tat gets from Hangzhou to Shanghai leaves at 4pm and they start selling tickets after the 3pm bus leaves, so that we will be sure we will get tickets, we arrive 5 minutes before 3, only to find tat the 4pm bus is actually a detour bus tat takes 4-5 hours to reach Shanghai while the 3pm bus is a direct bus tat takes only 2-3 hours... so we took the 3pm bus instead...

Ace was initially excited and moving around all the time on the bus...

After a while though, he got tired and lay down to rest...

Goodbye Hangzhou...

Anyway, the journey was rather long and the bus had no aircon! They just opened the windows and the rooftop windows of the bus.. as we traveled towards Shanghai where it was much colder and we were travelling at a fast speed.. it got really cold in the bus.. Ace has to wear three layers and Max who did not think he would be cold was shivering so much he actually welcomed my suggestion to share my jacket.. usually he will reject one lor:)

Then there was a toilet break.. i asked if Ace wanted to go toilet and he said NO.. but then once his dad went down the bus and walked far away, he said he is very urgent.. wah lau eh! Next time have to force him to go whenever his dad goes toilet.. so in the end, lao niang me have to carry all our lugguage and bring Ace to toilet... but since I am there, I also went lor.. even though the stench in the toilet is horrible.. eew.. but so far in china only 2 out of the many toilets I went to cant make it.. so already not too bad...

When we finally reached Shanghai and got off the bus, it was super cold both outside of the airport and inside the airport.. so once we went inside the building, we had to open our lugguage to take out our jackets.. hahaaha.. and then because it was too cold while Ace was sleeping, I think he caught a cold cos he started sniffling..

As my experience of the last airplane ride home from Singapore was not too good with Ace falling sick then.. I have since decided tat whenever we take the plane, we have to take 40 VP each.. (VP is this health food I take which is good for increasing immune system and detox). So we also used the chance to take out the VP and feed Ace some..

Saw these while walking into the main terminal.. Interesting art pieces.. this is representative of africa i think..

That is Japan...

See, we are all bundled up!

Then, time for dinner! Interestingly hor, it was easy to find food in the city but tough to find vegeterian food here in the airport!

Initially we went to the Shanghanese restaurant but when we started to order food, they din have this, din have that...
All the vegetarian options were sold out! We told the lady who was serving us that we are sorry but we cant eat here! Cos there is nothing for us to eat!

Hehehe.. but we already unwrapped one of their towels to clean Ace...

So leh, we walked around to find food and saw this italian restaurant.. I dun have high expectations of it lah cos this is China.. and HENG i did not have high expectations..

Firstly, the service staff is very strange one.. after they took our order, we asked if we could have a glass of warm water for Ace (as he was sneezing away badly..)

"I am sorry sir, we do not serve water..." replied the waitress..

"What if I paid for it?" asked Max..

"You cannot pay for or order anything that is not in our system, sir.. we cannot do that..." she replied..

"But I am ordering for my son who is not feeling well.. I will pay for it..."

"I am sorry sir, we do not serve water.. the management does not allow us to serve water..."

But after a while, I think the girl understood where we were coming from and said she will give us only one cup of warm water and it will be free since we cannot pay for it.. but we are not to say anything about it.. Phew..

We ordered mushroom soup for Ace..

Max ordered a beer and was disgruntled to find that it is a super small bottle...

Then I entertained myself by looking out for strange english on their signs... I cant imagine tat Shanghai airport also so cheapo to use google translate instead of getting a proper translator to do this.. I mean, i am very sure there are people in china who can speak and write good english as well.... "caution drop down" kauz... this is an international airport tat served millions during the Shanghai expo!

After dinner, we told Ace we will go to the bookstore to see if there are Xi Yang Yang books we can buy.. Ace asked if we could buy the VCD as well... and I saw THIS! But I din tell Ace.. cos it cost almost a hundred dollars sing.. it is 500 eps of xi yang yang cartoon.. but why pay when there is funshion?:P wahahahaha

Had a chat with the salesgirl at the bookshop and she, like many other chinese people are so impressed tat we speak impeccable mandarin cos she says most singaporeans she met speak with hokkien accent.. i think it is cos she meets mostly the older generation or wat... I told her most of us speak good mandarin and english too:)

I found out from the girl that the Grey Wolf in the cartoon is not considered a bad character even though the premise of the story is always of him trying to catch a goat to eat.. that is because he loves his wife very much and is very good to her.. so this girl who has been watching this cartoon since high school told me that they have a saying among them girls... That when you grow up and want to get married, marry someone like Hui Tai Lang.. hahahahaha

Then we checked in and went inside the departure area.. used the internet to check email for a while and then found a restaurant to sit down and use the on off wifi... it is half fucked but better than no wifi... ordered a noodles to eat as we felt hungry again and the noodle is disgusting lor.. even the noodles I cook at home also taste nicer than this.. and it is very ex lor!

Then leh, as it was my mum's birthday, we Facetime my mum for a while

And then Ace decided to lie down and rest a while.. he was still rubbing his nose but thank god by the time we boarded the plane, the VP kicked in and he stopped sniffling! Yeah!

Saw this interesting artwork when I was going to the toilet..

Anyway, tat was the last pic i took in China.. after tat it was on to the plane and back in Dubai and back to our boring existence.. hahaha:)

I am glad Ace turned out to be such a great companion and it was sort of nice to have him come travel with us too:)
