Life in Dubai has sort of settled down to a routine... Not a week goes by without my son clamoring to go to Mirdiff or Dubai Mall. If it is Mirdiff, it will be because he wants to visit Hemleys and Decathalon... If it is Dubai Mall, then it is the Virgin Megastore and his favourite Kinokuniya...
So when asked where does he want to go, Ace said.. "Mirdiff!" And it is no surprise since I think that is is number one favourite mall:)
When we arrived there, we went to Hemley's and to our surprise, there is actually a smurf workshop starting soon in 5 minutes and so we decided to hang around the shop for a while:)
Ace got distracted by a demo of this drawing reusable drawing board.. he stood there and stared at other people trying out this drawing board and since it was not very crowded.. he got a chance to try it out too...
Ace and the Bart Simpson that he drew ;)
After having played with some other toys, he was finally willing to move inwards to the store.. as we approached the workshop area, we saw some lovely smurfs:)
Angel Smurf...
And Ace smurf!:)
Both of them having as smurfalicious time:)
And then the workshop started.. we were given a picture in black and white and some glitter...
And while Master Ace was bz creating a painting...
Max was bz working... Since he has gotten his iphone, he has gotten even worse... working ALL the time cos it is so easy to check his email now and he is perpetually checking and replying to work email... BORING!
That is the little smurf land in the workshop area..
Ace adding his finishing touches..
While most people were just having globs of glitter all over, my son just used a light touch and after a while, he says he is done!
This is entrance to the workshop area...
After we brought it home, I was a little bored one day when Max and Ace were in school and so I decided to enhance the picture a little.. nice or not?:P
Anyway, after you finish the art work, you can also exchange for three tokens and play hoop the smurf.
Or you can use the ball to try to hit the smurf...
Ace managed to hit one smurf.. but it is just for you to play, no prizes if you hit..
Then we asked Ace to go but he was all entranced by the bubble machine... So he played "catching the bubbles" for about 15 minutes or so:) Kids! hahaha
Max however cannot understand Ace's fascination with the bubbles.. "Aiyoh, 7 years old and still playing with bubbles?" He shot me an incredulous look.. Well, I think bubbles has universal attraction for children of all ages:) Hahahaha.. Perhaps as Max's childhood is only filled with football and basketball, he finds it difficult to understand this:)
Aren't the bubbles beautiful?
Anyway, I noticed that Ace prefers Mirdiff's Hemley's to the one in Dubai Mall. I think it is because the staff here always seem so happy and when they are free, they always take the effort to interact one on one with the children:) Those in Dubai Mall are just forever bz "doing their job.."
I am sure we will be back again .. SOON...
