Playing With The Neighbours

Ace has a new after school routine... playing with the neighbours!:)

I dunno why it took so long for this to happen... After taking the same school bus and going to the same school for 8 months and overcoming their initial imagined "dislike" for each other (Ace complained that the neighbour said he is evil in the first few weeks of school...),  Ace and our dubai neighbour finally warmed up to each other and started playing together!

The first time it happened.. Ace told me they were waiting for the school bus and they started talking and decided that they wanted to play together when they got home.. Ace came up with the theme of airplanes and Juliana, who is two years older was happy to go along as well...

And so started the day where Ace and Juliana used our common corridor as landing strip.. hahahaha...

Ace and his super airplane...

Here is one Ace and Max made from this origami pack we bought from Daiso... the planes are amazing lor! Cos one of the planes can actually fly in a loop!

The kids would run down the hallway and throw their planes and see whose plane can go furthur:)

After a while, Juliana, our neighbour even brought out her skates.. but too bad Ace could not skate.. so he brought out his swing scooter to good use:)

Juliana's younger sister who is 3 also wanted to join in to the fun but as she was too young, she was just following them around.. luckily she was contented to just do tat:)

I stopped them after a while cos I was wary of disturbing the neighbours.. when i told Max after he came home.. he said it should be ok since in the afternoon, most people were out at work and the kids were the only ones at home...

After a few sessions of airplanes, they got bored and the theme changed to SPIES.. Juliana even dressed up like a spy and Ace was more than happy to show off and share all his spy related toys..

Ace told me after one session that he was really happy to play with them.. "It reminded me of the time I play with the mei mei in Singapore.." said Ace, who was referring to our neighbour who loved to play with him...

After a week of spying, they  now have a new theme.. SCHOOL.. but because they couldnt agree on who becoming the teacher and they realized that both of them wanted to be the teacher, they decided that they will both be teachers:) wahahaha...

And they even had desks and chairs and homework assigned..

Because they were mimicking their experiences in school, because this was science week, Ace and Juliana tried to conduct and experiment by mixing oil, water and salt to create bubbles.. hahahaha.. but of cos their experiment was not very successful... except in the area of creating more dirt on his white shirt for me to wash!

And how do they handle the little one? They send her off for badminton lessons or give her unlimited play time.. or detention to get her to go away so tat they can play in peace.. and because irregardless of lessons or play time... the little one still feels included, she is more than happy to "join in"... hahaha

As for me,as a result of the kids playing, I made a new friend too:) Nope, it is not the parents or helper of our neighbor whom I was already acquainted with a long way back:)

Every time the kids were playing, the neighbour opposite us would open the door.. she was an elderly lady who is slightly younger than my mum and she lives together with her husband.. her two kids are all grown up and working or studying in India... and because she was formerly a principal in a special needs school for children, she loves kids:) The sound of theri laughter would draw her out and she would stand by the doorway to chat with me while I kept an eye on them kids...

I have never spoken to her except during fire drills where all the neighbours will open the door..and the husband looks as if he is very anal and has never once smiled at all! I found out later through our chats that he has had some health issues and that is why there is a perpetual scowl on his face.. cos he was constantly in pain... but seems like he had gotten better... I bet the wife told him about our friendly daily chats and when i met him in the lift yesterday, he actually spoke to me and SMILED to me.. I told Max we have to go and buy 4D lor! hahahaha

I am glad Ace is adjusting well to Dubai and enjoying himself...

PS: They are starting to play during the weekends as well.. wahahahaha:)
