Ganma Karen Brings Ace Out To Play

Ganma Karen was having her holidays and so she suggested meeting up and bringing Ace out for some fun.. So we arranged for Karen to drive me to Ace's school and pick him up and then proceed to somewhere else...

I told Ace that Karen would come and pick him up in ZG's car and Ace was really excited..he opened his eyes big and used a high pitch voice to ask me, " Ganma can drive? Ganma pass drving test already?"

And then 3 seconds later, his voice whent 1 octave down and he asked me, "Why you haven't passed?" Grrrrr..

Anyway, in the end, we brought Ace to his favourite Tampines Mall for tea.. and then we walked around a little bit in the toy section... and proceeded to the highlight of the day.. SUSHI DINNER ;) hahaha..

Ace was really happy and even helped us took some photos:)

Thank God For Bumblebee Police

Because Ace finally finished his green assesement 'homework', so i kept my promise and let him choose a toy that he would like to buy.

Because we were in Carrefour and had alot of spare time that day, we walked around the toy section and I realized that all the Transformers there were less than $50. So I asked Ace to choose one that he likes....

He said he wanted a Optimus Prime Transformer toy but I think OP was already sold out... "Is Bumblebee ok?" I asked him.. because there were quitea few model of BB toys...

He said it was ok and so I picked out the three designs for him to choose.

One is a big big box and a big big BB toy which cost $49.90.. an0ther one is a normal BB worth $21.90 and the last one is a normal BB with an extra "alien force" logo on it.... making the BB look like a POLICE CAR... .. and that is also $21.90..

I was thinking he would surely go for the biggest one but still, I was prepared to keep my promise cos I told him he can choose... Anyway, he gave it a very long thought and decided that he would choose the one with the Police LOGO!

I was soooooooooo HAPPY!

Needless to say, Ace was very happy too:)

I Love You No Matter What

We were having our usual "before bedtime talk" the other day and we were takling about how parents always love their children....

So Ace Asked me, "Mummy, you will love me no matter what right?"

"Yes, Ace, I will love you no matter what.. No matter you are a bad boy or a good boy, I will still love you no matter what..."

And Ace said to me, "And I will love you no matter what... No matter you scold me... or no matter you beat me.. I will love you no matter what, mummy..."

"That's so sweet, Ace... I am so happy to hear that..." I told him.

I certainly had a sweet sweet sleep that night...

This just goes to show that all children just want unconditional love from their parents.. and if they are given that, they will also give that sort of unconditional love to their parents.. and their children too:)

PS dear, this one goes out to you too.. me and Ace love you no matter what:)

Ace Has An Abundant Day

The same day that I brought Ace for his makeover, I decided to bring him out for a night of fun since it has been quite a while since I brought him out...

I asked him what he wanted to eat and he said he wanted to eat Mac Donalds.. and so I brought him there for dinner.. after taht, we were supposed to meet ZY Jie Jie and while waiting for her, I finally went to choose the toy that he wanted as a reward for finishing his assesement book...

ZY gave Ace a treat of ice cream and even gave him a packet of snacks.. and also treated us to a drink at Mac..

When we reached home, I was having my usual "before bedtime" conversation with him and I told him that he had a really abundant day.... "Wah, today you got your dream dinner, have two new toys, a new transformer toy... ice cream.. so many days.. you really had an abundant day..."

"You also mah.." Ace said.. "You also got new clothes ah.. (ZY gave a new top to me) and snacks ah..."

"But ZY Jie Jie gave you the snacks.. not to me.." I told him..

"We are sharing mah, so it is also yours...." he replied..

Hahaha.. yes, Ace, I will learn to be thankful of all that I have.. and yes, I AM ABUNDANT TOO! :)

Lego City Airport

Well, dam the toy makers... who love to advertise on TV:)

The other day, Ace saw the advertisement for Lego City Airport and exclaimed that he wanted that for his birthday.. i told him that I will go and check it out first.. thinking that if it fell into my $70 budget, I would buy it for him for his birthday...

Alas, when I finally did find it, the price almost made my eyes pop out of my socket! That bloody toy set.. which can ONLY be made into an airport and nothing else cost like $189.90....

Searching for it on the internet made me realize it was THIS EXPENSIVE no matter where we went to buy it.. so after some discussion with Max, we decided to scrap the idea...

I was secretly hoping that if I just did not mention it again and he just did not see the advert again, he would forget about the whole thing:)

Thankfully, about 2 weeks later, my fellow Lion, Lion Mag gave me two model airplanes... when I brought them home, I told Ace that Aunty Mag gave him a birthday present... when he saw that they were model planes, he was so excited..

"So I don't have to buy Lego City Airport for you anymore right?" i asked him.. "Yes!" he exclaimed excitedly...

And then he took out his own lego set and started building his own airport and told me, "Now I have my own Lego City Airport.. special!"

Hahahaha..

Parents, remember to get creative... when you are creative, so will your child and THAT is always GOOD for your pockets :) hahaha

Car Bread

Because it was a long wkend, I decided to stay over at my mum's place for the weekend. However, it was probably boring to do nothing over the long weekend and so I decided to bring something to my mum's place to entertain Ace..

We arranged to make some interesting sandwhich using the sandwhich moulds that I bought from Carrefourre some time back. So you can make one sandwhich into a car, an elephant, a dog and a dolphin...

Even though we already had alot of food toeat, Ace was still very excited about this... alas, I think he was too full, after eating the car, he was already quite full and so we shared the rest of the bread with the rest of the family...

Why Don't You Pretend To Be Teacher

Just now, I was kind of missing Max and so, I thought about the Hoegarden that he bought before he left... and decided to have a drink...

So I started drinking the beer and Ace watched me in amusement and asked me why I wanted to drink beer when it is not good for me. I told him that I missed daddy.. that is why i am drinking beer... because daddy bought this beer... and I also told him that because I am only drinking a little bit, it is ok, still not too unhealthy. Only people who drink alot of beer is unhealthy...

"I want to quickly grow up and be as tall and daddy then I can drink ALOT OF BEER!" he exclaimed...

I reminded him that drinking ALOT if beer is unhealthy and so he asked me, "S0 you drink only little bit? What about Daddy? He also drink little bit?"

"Nope, "I told him.. "Daddy always drinks TOO MUCH until he vomit.. and that is not a good feeling..."

So he asked me why don't i ask daddy to stop? "Daddy does not always listen to me..and i am also not always beside him.." I explained to Ace...

Ace gave it a thought for about 3 seconds and gave me a GOOD SOLUTION, "Why don't you pretend to be a teacher? You can buy a teng tiao and if daddy dun listen to you and drink too much, you can beat him!"

"Beat where?" I asked him..

"Beat his pi gu lor!" and he laughed.... and then he declared that he also wants to be a teacher... and he wants to buy a teng tiao to beat Daddy's pi gu.. hahhahha.. farnee...

Anyway, some time back, I already decided that it was not true to be a full fledge vegeterian anymore.. so i decided to become a relaxed vegeterian... so while my daily meals were mostly vegeterian.. sometimes when I am out with friends or when I have cravings, I will eat some meat...

But I did not knwo how to let Max and ace know.... after contemplating for sometime, I one day just decided to tell max via email (because he is not in sgp now)... and to my surprise, he just asked me not to eat meat when I am with him and Ace...

Then i wondered how i should tell Ace.. so one day, when we were talking abotu eating healthy.. I asked Ace why he chose to eat vegeterian... "Because it is healthy mah.."

"So one day if mummy choose to eat meat, will you still choose to be vegeterian?" I asked him.

"Yes, because it is more healthy!"

And then a few weeks later, we were having porridge at my mum's place and happened so that my dad bought some char siew for himself and my grandmothers and so Ace asked me what that is...

"That is char siew..."

"I want! I also want!" he exclaimed excitedly, not knowing what it really is...

"Erm... that is meat leh.. do you want to eat meat?" I asked him...

"Oh, then I don't want alraedy..." he replied. "Why you and me same today.. why we never eat meat?"

So I told him I am not eating meat that day because I choose to be vegeterian like him that day...

And I felt it was a good time and so I told him that I am no longer a full time vegeterian... sometimes i will eat meat..

Ace asked me why and I told him that I felt it was time to choose to eat meat again. But because I am also concerned about health, I only eat a little meat and eat mostly vegeterian food still..

"What about daddy?"

So I explained to him that Daddy is still choosing to be vegeterian like him because daddy likes to save more animals... and he exclaimed, "Yeah, yipee! Then i will be like daddy and be vegeterian.. I also want to save more animals... I don't want to eat the chicken or the fish because they will cry if we eat them..."

Hahahaha.. cute boy rite?:)

Creative Ace

It is now quite a joy to watch Ace play.. because he is rather creative when it comes to play...

For example, a simple magic clean mop can in one moment, become the grass cutting machine.. next minute, it is the machine that sprays insecticides to chase mosquitoes away.. yet the next moment, it becomes microphone for Singapore Idol, Ace.. hahaha...

It is amazing how he can come up with so many creative ideas..

And remember his fireman's hat? He actually drew a picture of himself on it and added his name and proudly told us that it has already been TRANSFORMED into a policeman hat.. hahahaha.... No wonder he likes transformers... because they give the possibility of imagination in his mind:)

Ace Goes For Makeover

>

Brought Ace for a makeover shoot the other day... He won the shot because he was one of the first 50 pax to take part in some sort of contest... so he had a free makeover which will give him a COM CARD.. tat's a card you use to enrol him as a model for advertisements and stuff...

But the process of getting this done was kind of filled with challenges.. we were first informed about his win and asked to go to suntec to take photos.. we went there only to find that they changed their minds last min and will want us to take photo at their studio...

I called and made appt with the studio and went there only to fin that there was no one there.. I waited for about 15 min and decided to call to complain and just as i was complaining, the photographer came back...

So we finally did the shots.. these are pics I took with my camera and because I could not use flash, the photos came out grainy.... but well, it is just a preview.. will post the actual com card when I get it.. but I only get 3 photos out of the 20 tat he took.. many were very nice cos Ace was in happy smiley mood...

Afterward when we went out for gai gai, he even continue to pose the few poses that he was taught to pose...

Anyway, Ace overheard my conversation with someone about the com cards and I was saying that if we post the com cards to ad agencies, then we might be able to earn some extra income if he gets to "pai guang gao"...

And he got all excited..."Can I pai guang gao?! I love it!" he told me.. i told him it remains to be seen but he can manifest for it to happen...

And then after photo shoot, Ace asked me, "Mummy, can I pai xi or not?"

"Do you mean you want to become an actor? But I thought you want to be a policeman?"

"I want to be actor and act as a policeman.." he said..

So I asked him why he prefered to be an actor than a policeman... "I love to pretend to be somebody different from me..." Wah... I am amazed tat a 5 year old will say that... chances ah, this one will enjoy taking part in Singapore Idol or Star Search when he grows up.. hahahaha

Maybe time to send him to drama lessons?:P hahahahaha.....

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Had a long talk with Max about how we are going to live our lives in the next few months till he comes back..

After the discussion, there is one thing we have firmed up..that is that Max will be back for a week in august... so I told Ace that daddy confirmed will be back in August for a week...

And so Ace did a little dance and "Yeah" around the living room.

And then I told Ace that end of the year, we would go over to Dubai to spend some quality time together with Max and Ace was even MORE happy because he has been looking forward to spending time in Dubai with Max and so he did a dance around the living room....

He looks so cute when he is happy...

Calling Daddy

The other day, it happened to be a public holiday in singapore and a wkend in Dubai... so we arrange do talk on the computer..

Ace was excited to be talking to daddy again and he was all cheeky initially... and he even told me, "I know how to type already.. I can type to daddy!"

But when we started the MSN conversation, he was as usual engrossed in all the winks and smileys.. and so he played with it...

And then we had a good time chatting with each other and Ace was really farnee... His Dad used the WRITE function to write words and Ace would try to recognize them and write them out as well... and when Max wrote the word, "Money", Ace copied and wrote, "Money" and then added that must add "$".

And then because he was grumpy because he had not enough sleep, he started to cry over no good reason... and so I told him Daddy wrote "Shame Shame.." and asked him not to cry because he is a big boy already.. if he is tired, he can go and sleep...

So he went to the bed, lie down a little and ran out of the room. He came back with my digital camera and started taking pictures of his dad... and he was so happy that he got a good shot.. I guess he is really missing his dad alot..

PS: I Miss You ALOT too, dear.. Happy 6th wedding Annivesary!

Max Loves Ace

The one will bring tears to Max's eyes...

The other day, we were on our way to school in our car.. my dad was driving and Ace was in the front seat.

Suddenly, he felt inspired to draw and he searched around and found a pen and a receipt and asked me if he could draw on it.. so I said yes..

And then he started fiddling with this small scrap of paper that he also found and I exclaimed, "What's that? Oh, it is Daddy's name tag when he went for a seminar..."

And then Ace started copying and writing Max's name.. and then added his surname to it because his teacher told him that he shares the same surname as his father... and after that, he started to add a face, legs and hands to it... and he showed the drawing to me..

I laughed... and said it is very cute...

And then he started to draw again and this time.. without any external influence, he wrote down MAX LOVES ACE...

Aw...... sob sob...

I Am A Kiasu Parent!

Oh my god! I am a kiasu parent! I just went to popular and bought $30+ worth of assesement books for my 5 year old!

I bought books for english, math and chinese... and I bought K2 stuff and even Primary one stuff.. even one problem solving math assesment! Hahahahah....

My tuition teacher friend who went with me assures me it is ok... dun have to worry about being too kiasu cos a good foundation is important. If the child does not have a good foundation, they would struggle through their primary one...

Thank goodness, when my son saw me with that bag of books, he jumped up for joy and said, "Yeah, got so many homework!"

I told him if he did a little a day, he can finish them.. and asked him if he would like to get a small present for every book he finished or a big present for finishing all the books. "Big present... I like big presents..." he said.

He was so excited that that day, he broke record and did 20 pages worth of homework! And all done and coloured VERY NICELY LOR!

Anyway, my purpose is not really to push him.. but really just to expose him to higher level of work so that he is not caught by surprise during the transition to the next level... I remembered how, when asked to cut at age 2... he turned out to master it rather quickly and it has helped him in his motor skills such that he can write and colour very nicely:)

The next day, Ace was eating his breakfast and he seemed to be thinking about something. After a while, he told me very happily and excitedly, "Mummy, when we go to dubai, let's bring all the homework over.... and then I will do so much homework and then Daddy can buy me more presents! Yeah!"

Hahahaha... GOOD... now he will be happpy to do work when we go over to dubai.. cos that was part of what I had in mind too.. to bring some assesements for him to do when we are over there for a visit so that when Max is at work, we wun be bored.... :) I certainly dun want to do Tom and Jerry and swimming EVERYDAY:) hahahaha..
