Singapore Art Museum

Sometime in July, I watched Good Morning Singapore and they were interviewing some people from the Singapore Art Museum about this Children's Garden thingy.. so I made a mental note to bring Ace since he seems to have a keen interest in art and craft...

But we were busy.. and then before I realized it, it was august already.. and the good news is that in the month of August, so that we can celebrate Singapore's birthday, SAM gave free entry to all Singaporeans and PR:)

So we finally made a day and went down the SAM to view the art pieces...

Ace at the big bunny installation art right outside the SAM. According to my friend who works nearby, they actually deflate this rabbit everyday at the end of the day and inflate it again the next day.. wahahah:)

The first part of our visit, we spent about an hour looking at art work by some chinese artiste and some artwork about nature by a group of singaporean artistes.. then we spent some time going to another pop art exhibition etc.. by the time we were done, it has already been an hour plus! (I somehow lost all of the photos I took at the pop art exhibition).

Then finally, it was time to go to the Children's Garden.. alas, as we had made appt to meet up with Ganma Karen, it would be a mad rush inside the garden...

These are flowers tat will move left and right when the sun is shining on it:) Was a little tempted to buy one to put on Max's car in dubai:) wahahahahah

Somehow, the first thing we came across when we walked into the building is some sort of cartoon and animation tat they were showing.. most of them are short clips and we were very heng lor.. saw the one tat is a 30 min animation.. but it was quite good lah:)

We left a little bit before in ended since we were in a hurry and Ace insisted on going into the workshop room to make clay flowers tat we exchanged for our tickets...

Guess which one is made by who?:)

Then Ace wanted to draw....

After that, I asked him if he would prefer to continue his tour and keep ganma waiting or he would prefer to go meet ganma now... he said he will meet ganma now (phew) and I told him that we will come back again for him to explore the children's art garden fully since there were a few other exhibits we did not have a chance to see!

On the train home...

I was a little worried that Ace may not have enjoyed himself since most of the time was spent in the adult part of the art museum which may have been a little boring for him... But well, I think it was a different exposure to him lah:)

Anyway, true to my promise, on another day, I brought him to the Children's Art Garden again:)

This is his favourite wall in this room filled with stencils...

When we watched the video tat showed how they made the room then we realized tat the room was intitially filled with flower stencils of all colours.. but by the time we went there, there were so many pple who went in and out of the room and so the floor was a mesh of light colours.. we couldnt see the flowers anymore.. sad..

Ace wanted to watch the cartoon AGAIN and so we spent some time watching cartoons again.. wahahaha:)

Then we went to decorate a box for display..

Ace's design...

I dressed him up!:)

Then we came to this place with a glowing squid...

There you could learn to make origami and put it into this glow in the dark garden.. of all things you can choose to learn (flower, buttefly or leaf), my son chose to learn to make a leaf!:) wahahahah

Ace placing his leaf inside the garden...

And I placed the flower tat I made beside his leaf:)

Ace wanted to stay there forever since he loved origami and folded many different things...

Then it was time to decorate our clay flower again already:) wahahah

Not bad.. with experience and more time, Ace is more creative this time round:)

I also entertained myself with colouring a tree ;)

That is Ace's masterpiece:)

And then it was time to go again.. Ace was super happy tat we got a chance to visit the children's garden.. I hope they have something similar next year we come:)
