Ace's Class Assembly Performance

Last year, Ace's class was one of the last few to do the school assembly... this year however, their class was one of the first few classes to do so:)

This year, their theme is about Deserts and Rainforests and they used Indiana Jones as the person to introduce the differences between the two...

The children are divided into the RAINFOREST BLOCK... which means they have to be in GREEN. We were informed sort of last minute and luckily, Ace as a SUPER SMALL GREEN LABTEN Tshirt that one of Max's friends made for him that he can still sort of squeeze into...

Then there is the DESERT BLOCK that has to be in yellow...

Here is Indiana giving a introduction...

I must say their presentation is quite interesting:)

THis one talks about where the rainforests and the deserts of the world are...  did you know that most of the world's rainforests are located in South America?

And there are alot more deserts in the world than I thought:)

This one about how deserts and rainforests grow are really interesting.. the children used green cloth to make a canopy of sorts so that they can take turns to be below and feel how it feels like to be inside a rainforest.. very fun right! I wish Singapore's education gave more room for learning in such interesting ways:)

I think you dun need to guess also know that Ace will volunteer for the JOKE SEGMENT right?

He presented a joke that he wrote himself...

His joke went like this:
Q: What do camels love to eat?
A: Desserts... (because it is similar to the word desert)

This part is also very interesting.. they were separated into teams and each team is given and ipad and they will go and interview the children in OTHER CLASSES and ask them what sort of animals they will find in rainforests and deserts and also take pictures of animals they think might be found there.. how fun!

I took these pics to show Ace lah.. on stage dun let whole world see that you very bored. so ugly.. why never inherit his mother's STAGE SENSE at all!!!

Some facts about animals found in the rainforest and deserts...

This part is also very interesting.. two of the students had pets at home.. one had a chameleon and the other a guinea pig and a parrot.. and they both made videos to show off their pets and talk a little about what conditions the pet has to live in and how they feed... very interesting..

THis one.. they interviewed the floor and asked about what happened if there were no rainforest...

And they rounded off with a song It's A Wonderful World about what they wish for their future.. one round leh.. i remember that Ace's very first assembly they also sang this song:)

Mr M providing LIVE music accompaniment:)

Principal, Mrs S praising them for their very well done assembly...

The woman who made all these possible ;) Ms R ;)

THen it was time to read out the names of pupils who have done well for the week.. they are going to recieve some "award" for doing certain things well... and the whole school will sing the WELL DONE song to them :)

These boys are the reading champions.. (somewhat like a library squad).. I think they are formed to inspire and encourage more boys to read:) Apparently, boys dont like reading as much as girls and so teachers try to inspire  them to read more by using comics etc as well..

Time to give out medals to the match champions.. notice tat the 3 math champions here are all INDIANS? Wahahahaha

Anyway, one of them is Ace's friend, Z.. Z says he always gets a medal when I am in school to fetch Ace.. I told him maybe I should go fetch them more often.. hahahaha

And finally, I have a clue of the use of housepoints.. hahaha. cos weekly, they actually do calculate house points and see who gets to keep the cup..

These are students volunteering to go find the soft toys hidden in the assembly hall.. each toy has the total points of each house...

The captains of the winning house.. can tell the children are really excited when their house wins..

Then time to go fetch Ace already lor :)

For the benefit of Max who couldnt make it because he was working in Singapore, I have videoed the whole performance. Unfortunately, as I had to handle both the video and the camera.. so is a little lopsided :) wahahaha..
