Oman Trip 1: Long Drive To Oman

Our Dubai friends said since there was a long weekend, we should plan for something.. one idea lead to another and eventually, we decided to drive to Oman :)

So as to beat the crowd at the customs, we decided to meet at 7am at a petrol kiosk and look for some breakfast while we plan our journey.

Early morning Burj Khalifa looks extra nice:)

The sunrise was beautiful:)

That is us waiting around at the petrol station.. we reached the petrol station and realized finally that there was no mac donalds here.. wahahahah :)

Max went to discuss our plans with the others while me and Ace camwhore in the car... in addition, Ace told me I have to lock the car because there were so many man standing around us... it is very dangerous.. wahahahaha:)

Max say very cold.. so he put on his beanie.. i said to take photo.. but he give me this sort of face.. so I say have to RETAKE.. wahahah:)

Ace had a beanie too:) wahahha..

Sun is rising..

The initial plan was to continue on till we find a mac and then sit down and eat and plan... BUT we drove for a long time and could not find any! So we parked the cars by the side and had a meeting.. as you can see.. it was freeeeeeeezing cold.. wahahah :) I just sit in the warm car to take photo:) wahahah

We drove past this part of the desert which was really cute.. and has lots of little trees.. hahahah

Then eventually we drove past the red sand desert...

The skies were turning dark.. and I thought it wouldnt rain here!:) wahahha..

Cannot help but be in awe of the beautiful mountains... reminds me of the mountains in australia that I visited many many years ago..

Still inside UAE terrain.. apparently, we will pass through Oman.. then go into UAE again.. and then drive into Oman again because this portion of Oman is in between UAE... And there were flags along the way to tell you where you are..

As we continued to drive, Max says the sky is very beautiful..

There were rays of sunlight shooting out from the clouds.. looks like the heavens reaching out to earth..

Took many photos cos Max kept saying very nice:) wahahaha

I must say we were lucky the heavens were very kind to us... cos we saw lots of beautiful clouds and sceneries :)

I forbade Ace to play with his ipad... cos the scenery so beautiful right.. and the purpose of travelling is to take in all the sights and sounds... not to watch videos on youtube or play ipad games!:) wahahahaha...

Thankfully after a long time, we found a petrol kiosk that sold food and hot drinks so we gathered to go toilet lah. eat some breakfast lah... and get ready to be on our way:)

There were taken outside that petrol kiosk...  so pretty right.. my friend WL told me that we were lucky. It is because it has been raining a few days ago that there are green shoots growing out from the mountains and that is why they are green instead of just brown...

Breath-taking!

Driving back into UAE in Hatta again...

Taken behind the UAE customs in Hatta.... pretty!

Heaven on earth!

These were taken as we approached the final Oman custom... so pretty..

Oman is a very mountainous region and has lots of beautiful mountains.. and we also saw some goats grazing on the mountains...

After that was a long long drive.. I took out my pillow and started to zzzz :) wahahahaha

When we arrived in Oman, we found out that unlike UAE, they had lots of greenery.. probably cos they rained more often and had climate nearer to that of Singapore.... and the government is very cute.. they also grow flowers like Dubai to beautify the roads.. But the flowers are all grown haphazardly without any particular sequence or design.. just some colours here.. some colours there.. hahahaha :) Or maybe it is their sense of beauty and I dun understand it:)

The Eiffel Tower of Oman?:P

As Oman is a different country altogether, we need to pay roaming when using the phone here.. so we brought along the walkie talkie Kerr gor gor gave to Ace to use as communication between cars..

And he had such a fun time... cos Ken and Michelle lent us their GPS.. and our car was the lead car... and they were following last.. so we passed them the walkie talkie.. and Ace kept talking to them... saying silly things and asking silly questions.. and because Ken is a good sport, he just entertained Ace and went along with him :) wahahahah

There were many plantations and farms in Oman as well.. this is one of them tat we passed...

Photo I took from our side mirror.. our 3  cars in a row...:) hahahaha... Just nice can see a little bit of everybody:)

We drove for a very very long time and couldnt find any place to have lunch! It was Friday and most shops were closed...

Finally found an indian shop that served food!

Ace looking hungry...

WL just happy that we can have food now!:)

We ordered this to share... the portion very scary.. the cup there gives you an indication of how big the plate is lor! We couldnt finish and had to tabao to eat as dinner as well!:)

Saw a picture of a fort in the restaurant.. so took.. in case i cannot get a good picture later:)

View outside the restaurant...

Our next place we were supposed to visit is the Nakheel Fort.. BUT BUT.. the GPS brought us HERE! Cannot see any fort at all! wahahahahahah

So just take photos lor..

And then we met a nice man who offered to lead us there in his car... Omanis are super friendly people leh!:)

Following behind the friendly Omani and driving towards the majestic mountains... feels.. SO GOOD!
